Fixed IssuesThe following sections summarize the issues fixed in Enterprise Manager 2014 R1.

Fixed Issues in Version 2014 R1.2The following issues are fixed in Enterprise Manager 2014 R1.2.

    Issue Description

CQ00354776 When NFS is selected in the Run Diagnostic dialog box for the FluidFS cluster File Accessibility Diagnostics, if you leave the CIFS Share Name field blank, an Invalid format for String error appears. The CIFS Share Name field should not be required when NFS is selected.

CQ00353978 If you change the FluidFS cluster secured management Restriction drop ‐down menu from Restricted to Unrestricted without closing the Edit Settings dialog box, secured management is not disabled.

CQ00353900 A FluidFS cluster cannot be added to Enterprise Manager if there is only one iSCSI fault domain. If there is one iSCSI fault domain, a Must select iSCSI ports for all 2 NAS Controllers error appears if you attempt to advance past the Select Storage Centers page of the Add FluidFS Cluster wizard.

CQ00353673 In environments that use a remote Data Collector, SRM recovery and test recovery ignores the SRM

Selectable Replay drop ‐down menu in Enterprise Manager.CQ00352930 Automated report emails always include reports in PDF format in addition to the selected format.

CQ00352910 Automated reports display sizes in blocks instead of megabytes, gigabytes, or terabytes. One block is 512 bytes.

CQ00352801 After deleting a FluidFS cluster administrator, the administrator is still displayed on the Administrator Users tab.

CQ00352592 After creating or deleting a NAS volume, a FluidFsNasVolumeStatus not found error appears.

CQ00352512 Adding multiple NAS appliances to a FluidFS cluster at the same time should not be allowed in the Add Appliances wizard. If you attempt to add multiple NAS appliances to a FluidFS cluster at the same time, subsequent FluidFS cluster management operations will not be possible using Enterprise Manager.

CQ00351904 If you leave the Path field blank in the Run Diagnostic dialog box for the FluidFS cluster File Accessibility Diagnostics, a Failed to run FileAccessibilityDiagnostic diagnostics error appears. The Path field should be required.

CQ00351740 When multiple storage types are defined on a Storage Center, the free space for the first storage type is incorrectly reported for all storage types.

CQ00350944 When an incorrect host name or IP address is entered in the Add FluidFS Cluster wizard, an Unable to connect to NAS ‐ could not identify version error appears. The error message should be clarified to indicate that the issue is due to Enterprise Manager being unable to connect to the host name or IP address.

CQ00350600 When a Storage Center running version 6.3–6.4 is managed by Enterprise Manager, the Storage Center repeatedly logs error messages. These errors can safely be ignored.

WARNING - Daemon - GPB Received error in response from storage center.Error code[26], Msg[]

    WARNING - Daemon - APIManager Error code[10] Summary[14APIMethodErrorInvalid/expired session handle @ apiMgmt/apiManager/scObjects/general/apiConnectionObject.cpp 179]

WARNING - MCShim - Invalid MCShim request. Failed to validate session.

CQ00350330 Comparison charts on the Charting tab are labeled megabytes per second (MB/s) but incorrectly display data in kilobytes per second (KB/s).

Fixed Issues in Version 2014 R1The following issues are fixed in Enterprise Manager 2014 R1.

CQ00350207 After the FluidFS cluster joins or leaves an Active Directory domain, the old settings are displayed on the Active Directory tab. After modifying the external user database settings, the old settings are displayed on the External User Database tab.

CQ00349275 After adding a FluidFS cluster to Enterprise Manager, although Enterprise Manager can communicate

with the FluidFS cluster, Enterprise Manager sometimes marks the FluidFS cluster as down and a Reconnect to FluidFS cluster option appears.

CQ00349136 After creating a client network for the FluidFS cluster, the new client network is not displayed in the Network node.

CQ00349131 When restoring the NAS volume configuration, the Restore Volume Config dialog box displays null:IDLE null:RUNNING instead of a status message.

CQ00348547 The NAS volumes associated with a NAS volume administrator cannot be changed.

CQ00347043 The FluidFS cluster Status section of the Summary tab does not contain any data when the file system is down.

CQ00346255 After modifying the access time granularity settings for a NAS volume, the NAS volume Edit Settings dialog box shows the old settings.

CQ00341440 After creating, modifying, or deleting local users or local groups for a FluidFS cluster, the root of the System tab navigation pane is displayed instead of a refreshed view of the Local Users tab.

CQ00340779 After disconnecting a CIFS connection from the FluidFS cluster, the root of the System tab navigation pane is displayed instead of a refreshed view of the CIFS Connections tab.

CQ00337312 When performing a service pack upgrade for version 3.0, a Timed out waiting for operation to complete (Request ID: 2233) message appears. This message indicates that Enterprise Manager lost communication with the FluidFS cluster during the upgrade. However, the upgrade process should continue to run in the background.

CQ00327345 If a virtual machine that belongs to VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) protected group has a heavy workload, multiple Replays are repeatedly created when an SRM recovery plan is test activated.

CQ00295860 Adding a FluidFS version 2.0 cluster to Enterprise Manager can take significant time to complete if the FluidFS cluster and Storage Centers are located at a remote site with high network latency.

    Issue Description

CQ00353718 Saving restore points during disaster recovery activation prevents some volumes from being activated.

CQ00351122 The Data Collector stops responding and fails to restart after the SSL certificate for Enterprise Manager is changed.

CQ00350386 When mapping a volume to a server, selecting the Use the next available LUN if specified LUN is

unavailable check box ignores the value in the LUN to use when mapping to Volume field and uses the next available LUN on the server.

CQ00347123 Data Collector Manager allows an Enterprise Manager user to be created with no user name.

CQ00342765 Storage Center Volume Manager or Reporter users are incorrectly allowed to modify the Allow User to Modify Preferences check box for their own accounts.

CQ00341636 In some cases, values entered in the Min Amount Before Swap field for Live Volumes are not properly validated.

    Runtime

    Environment

    (JRE)

    from

    1.6

    to

    1.7

    or

    downgrading

from 1.7 to 1.6 creates an issue that prevents SCVMM 2012 from discovering the Dell Compellent SMI‐S provider.

Workaround :1 Stop the Data Collector service.2 Delete the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Compellent Technologies\Compellent Enterprise

Manager\msaservice\Pegasus.3 Start the Data Collector service.4 Recreate the SMI‐S user.5 If the Data Collector is configured to use HTTPS for SMI‐S connections, associate the SSL certificate

    with the SMI‐S user.

CQ00292578 If the password for the SMI‐S user account is longer than 8 characters, SCVMM 2012 fails to discover the

Dell Compellent SMI‐S Provider.Workaround : Create passwords that have 8 characters or less.

CQ00254350 Mapping volumes from Microsoft SCVMM 2012 to a cluster uses server mappings instead of cluster mappings.

Workaround : After provisioning a cluster volume with SCVMM 2012, use Enterprise Manager to promote the server mapping to a cluster mapping.

CQ00222093 When using scripted PowerShell cmdlets to perform management operations on large numbers of objects, SCVMM errors might occur.

    Workaround :

    • Update Microsoft SCVMM 2012 by installing Update Rollup 1 for System Center 2012.• If you cannot install the update, insert delays between operations to avoid SCVMM errors.

    Storage

Centers running version 5.5 or earlier, ESX hosts at the recovery site fail to mount VMFS5 datastores and log the error Host does not support ATS or ATS initialization has failed in the local vmkernel.log file.

Workaround : Disable HardwareAcceleratedLocking (ATS) for each ESX host at both sites as described in VMware Knowledge Base article 2006858, then recreate the replications.

CQ00201044 SRM 5.0 crashes during the Change Recovery Site Storage to Writeable step during failback.

Workaround : Upgrade SRM to version 5.1 or later.

CQ00198375 SRM 5.0 process crashes when creating a recovery plan on a recovery site after a protected site disaster.

Workaround : Upgrade SRM to version 5.1 or later.

CQ00198020 Storage Center version 5.5.4 or earlier: When a reprotect is not performed promptly after recovering

from a planned migration with VMware SRM 5.0, hosts running VMware ESX 4.1 Update 1 attempt to write to LUNs that are read ‐only, causing /var/log on the hosts to begin filling up. Eventually the hosts become unresponsive and disconnect from VMware vCenter.

Workaround : Upgrade Storage Center to version 5.5.6 or later.

If you cannot upgrade your Storage Center:1 Run reprotect as soon as possible after running recovery. The reprotect fails to complete.2 If the ESX host disconnects from vCenter, perform the following steps:

a Check /var/log partition space and delete unneeded vmkernel logs if necessary.b Reconnect to the ESX host with vCenter.

3 Run the reprotect again with force clean ‐up selected.4 Restore placeholders for the ESX 4.1 update 1 host virtual machines.

5 Delete the *‐tmp placeholders from the new recovery site.

Upgrading to Enterprise Manager 2014 R1Upgrade the Data Collector, Clients, and Server Agents to version 2014 R1.

Prerequisites The Data Collector being upgraded must be running version 5.4 or later. The server that hosts the Data Collector must be running a 64‐ bit operating system. If the Data Collector is

installed on a 32‐ bit server, see Migrating a Data Collector from 32‐ bit to 64‐ bit on page 13 . Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.7 must be installed on the server that hosts the Data Collector and the

    computer(s) that host the Client.

For each managed Storage Center, the Storage Center certificate must contain the host name or management IP address used to add the Storage Center to Enterprise Manager. For instructions on regenerating an SSL certificate, see the Storage Center Administrator’s Guide.

If you are upgrading from version 5.x, all reports that you want to retain must be exported to PDF and saved externally. Reports generated by version 5.x are not viewable in the Client after upgrading to version 6.x or later.

Steps1 Download the latest Enterprise Manager Data Collector software from the Knowledge Center by

logging on to the customer or partner portal (from support.dell.com/compellent ).

2 Upgrade the primary Enterprise Manager Data Collector.a Unzip the Enterprise Manager Data Collector Setup file.

b Run the Enterprise Manager Data Collector Setup file to upgrade the Data Collector.

c If you upgraded from a 5.x version, delete the old Data Collector Manager desktop icon and Start Menu item that were left behind by the upgrade.

3 If you are using a remote Data Collector, repeat Step 2 on the server that hosts the remote Data Collector.

4 Upgrade all Enterprise Manager Clients on Windows workstations.

a Use the Enterprise Manager Client to connect to the upgraded Data Collector.b When you are prompted, download and install the new Enterprise Manager Client.c If you upgraded from a 5.x version, delete the old Client desktop icon and Start Menu item that were

    left behind by the upgrade.

Note: Dell Compellent recommends upgrading the Server Agents. However, previous versions of the Server Agent continue to work with the new version of the Data Collector.

Note: If the Data Collector is running version 6.3.4 or earlier, the host server must have JRE 1.7 Update 20 (or earlier) installed. When JRE 1.7 Update 21 (or later) is installed, the Data Collector cannot be stopped, started, uninstalled, or upgraded.

Note: You do not need to uninstall the previous version of the Data Collector.

Note: If Remember Password is selected when you start the updated Client, clear the Password field and re‐enter the correct password before you connect to the Data Collector.

5 Upgrade the Enterprise Manager Server Agents on all Windows servers.

a Download the updated Server Agent Installer from the Data Collector website. Do not use the CHECK FOR UPGRADE option in the Server Agent Manager to perform the upgrade.

b Run the Server Agent Installer to install the updated version.

c If you upgraded from a 5.x version, delete the old Server Agent desktop icon and Start Menu item that were left behind by the upgrade.

Migrating a Data Collector from 32-bit to 64-bitA Data Collector that is installed on a 32‐ bit server cannot be directly upgraded to version 2014 R1 because Enterprise Manager 6.3.1 removed Data Collector support for 32‐ bit operating systems. To upgrade to version 2014 R1, install the Data Collector on a 64‐ bit server, and then migrate the data from the old Data Collector to the new Data Collector.1 On a 64‐ bit server, install the same Data Collector version that is running on the existing 32‐ bit server.2 Migrate the Data Collector configuration from the 32‐ bit server to the 64‐ bit server. For specific

instructions, see the “Data Collector Management” chapter in the Enterprise Manager Administrator’s Guide.

3 Upgrade the Data Collector on the 64‐ bit server to version 2014 R1.
