FRS Community Outreach Grants Available As part of its ongoing commitment

to rural communi es across the country, the Founda on for Rural Service provides annual grants for communi es served by NTCA members. The goal of this program is to support local eff orts to build and sustain a high quality of life in rural America. Grants will be concentrated in four major areas:

Business Development Community Development Educa on Telecommunica ons

FRS grants allow rural communi es to take that fi rst step towards a project or plan that can help be er the lives of those around them – whether it is smart boards in schools, be er agricultural equipment for farms, start-up money for young entrepreneurs, or basic computer classes. These funds, from $250 to $5,000, help rural Americans invest in their communi es in meaningful ways.

The Founda on will give priority to proposals that foster collabora on among diff erent community agencies, and local government, refl ect a comprehensive approach to community development, promote community par cipa on and engagement, and make rural communi es a be er place to live and work.

The Council Grove Public Library is holding their annual book sale beginning Thursday, Sept. 21 from 5–7pm (open to Friends members only). Memberships will be sold at the door. Friday, Sept. 22, the sale is open to the public from 9am un l 6pm and Saturday, Sept. 23, the sale con nues from 10am un l 2pm. We have a large number of mysteries, westerns, romance, science fi c on and lots of non-fi c on books. This sale contains all new dona ons! Bargain hunters can take home all the books they can fi t into a bag for $3 the week of Sept. 25th through the 29th during regular library hours.

The Hospital Auxiliary is having a linen sale at the Morris County Hospital to raise money for the Emergency Room Expansion Project. Stop by the Front Lobby on Monday, Oct. 9 from 9am – 4pm. New Ultra Plush Blankets, Sherpa Throws, Blankets, Quilt Sets, Comforters, Bamboo Memory Foam Pillows, and Sheet sets will be available for purchase. Cash, credit/debit cards, and checks accepted.

The Rolling Prairie Senior Center in White City is sponsoring a bus trip to the Prairie Band Casino on Oct. 19. The bus will leave the center at 7am and will make a stop in Alta Vista.
