FRONT COVER SCREENSHOTS

I started off my front cover with placing the image in the centre of my page with the eye-line in the hotspot. This would create a basis for my front cover and would allow me to work around the image, making sure I don’t cover the main image with any cover lines etc.

Next, I placed the masthead above my main image. I created a mask (by drawing round the image with the lasso tool and selecting the mask tool) so that it would appear behind my image

After placing the masthead on my page, I inserted the header across the top. It was important to place this on my page next so I could ensure I had left enough room at the top for it to go on

I then inserted the text inside the header. I placed names of famous artists/bands in pink text to draw the readers attention to it, and this would appeal to them if they listen to these particular artists. The next thing I placed on my page was the pug. The text inside it says ‘First ever Edition’. I chose to place this inside the pug because the pug will draw attention as it is an individual cover line and I wanted to make it clear to my reader that this is the first ever edition so they would be keen to buy it.

My cover lines were the next feature of my front cover that I created. I made sure the cover line that was about the model on the front page anchored the image, so that it is clear it is about her. I also made sure I left plenty of room to include my main cover line as this would need to be a lot larger and bolder than the rest, in order to make it obvious to the reader that this is the biggest story and the most important

The final feature I added to my front cover was the barcode and the price. I left this till last because it is the least important in terms of attracting my audience. A barcode always goes in dead space as this isn’t valuable space, therefore I simply left room in the bottom left hand corner, and placed it there at the end, along with the price of my magazine.
