Using the magic wand tool in Adobe Firework, I removed the background from the font so it became transparent.

I placed the image I wanted as the central image of my front cover onto the document on Adobe Indesign and then selected ‘fitting’ to fit the image to the frame.

I placed the masthead in large font and at the top of the cover so that it would immediately grab the attention of the target audience.

I found a barcode on Google images and saved it as an image to place it onto my cover as the majority of magazines have a barcode on their cover. I also began to add the cover lines, using a colour scheme of white, black and purple as I felt these would appeal to the target audience and were associated with the indie rock genre and they were all in the central image.

Instead of the previous look, I rotated and enlarged the main coverline, much like the NME example I was looking at. I also moved the barcode to the bottom to seem more discrete.

I decided to change the main font colour to electric blue as it stood out more against the central image and fitted more with the fun, light-hearted feel of the magazine.

I also added other coverlines and plugs to the cover and a list of bands and artists also featured, often used by music magazines as the musicians are the main feature.

Creating my contents page:

I placed the image I wanted to use from my documents into the document and fitted it to fill the top half of the page, much like the Kerrang example.

I drew a long, thin rectangle along the bottom of the image and filled it in black, also done in the kerrang example, to separate the text from the image.

I used the main colour of purple as it was also in the central image and created the text boxes for the sub-headings and page numbers in that colour.

I also placed a graphic feature of one of the feature band members, with a black outline around it.

Finally, I added a couple more graphic features of photos I had taken that were relating to the articles listed in the contents.
