You asked for it so here it is...the recipe for that wonderful breakfast casserole dish that Paula Benham brought to our workshop on February 4th.

Thanks, Paula! Brunch Egg Bake [ 12 servings] Ingredients: 1 [ 13 x 9 ] inch baking dish [ 3 quart] 12 oz [3 cups] shredded cheddar cheese 12 oz. shredded mozzarella cheese 1 [ 4.5 oz. jar] sliced mushrooms, drained. * 1/3 cup sliced green onions ½ medium red bell pepper, chopped ¼ cup margarine or butter 8 oz. cooked ham, cut into thin julienne strips* * ½ cup all purpose or unbleached flour 1 ¼ cups milk 2 T chopped parsley 8 eggs, beaten *** Directions Combine the cheeses in a bowl and sprinkle half of the cheese mixture into an ungreased baking dish. In medium skillet cook mushrooms, green onions, and red bell pepper in margarine until onions and peppers are tender. Arrange vegetables over cheese. Arrange ham strips over vegetables. Sprinkle remaining cheese over ham. [ To make ahead, prepare to this point; cover and refrigerate.] Heat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. In large bowl, blend flour, milk, parsley and eggs; pour over layers in baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes or until mixture is set and top is lightly browned. Let stand 10 minutes; garnish with chopped fresh parsley and red bell pepper if desired. * I choose to use fresh mushrooms. I get the pint container and use about half. ** I choose to use Eckrich Polska Kielbasa instead of ham. I like the turkey sausage, but I noticed that the one I chose last time had pork, turkey and beef in it. The Eckrich package is 16 oz., so I use one of the two sausages. Dice it up and add it to the veggie mixture in the fry pan and cook it altogether. ***Also – the cheese can tend to make the strata heavy so I add one more egg to lighten it up. Recipe taken from The Pillsbury Family Christmas Cookbook, , Copyright 1991, The Pillsbury Company. ISBN # : 0-385-23866-5

Ginny’s Scholarship Fund Ruth McDonald and I have served on the Committee

for the above this past year. We created (along with a

former PCDP member) an application that I submit-

ted to Flagler County Schools and made available to

both Flagler Palm Coast High School and Matanzas

High School students. The deadline for turning in

the applications was January 31st. I have checked with

our liaison at the School Board Office and I’m sorry

to say that we didn’t have any applicants.

We will submit our information to the School Board

Office in charge of scholarships again this coming fall

and hope that we get some responses! If anyone

would like to serve on this committee, please contact

me.

From 1st Vice President—Workshop Chair—Linda Doup

We had a great time at our February session. Cheri’s Zentangle Angel was fun. Cheri

was a great instructor and provided us with a great instruction package for ease in com-

pleting and for future projects. Amazing how we all did the same thing and the results

were all different and all beautiful.

Our March class is “Paradise” to be taught by Pat Smelkoff. Members signed up for

this class are: Jane VB, Ruth Mc, Judy H., Marylou P., Lana R., Mercedes P., Barbara

J., Jan N., Paula B., Karen R.

Please bring your usual paint supplies, i.e. brushes, water container, etc. Pat is provid-

ing a prepared canvas and paints. Don’t we love the projects that we can just go and

have fun?

Our National Convention brings an opportunity to take classes from nationally known

artists and to put our best foot forward in recruiting new members. April’s session will

be a “free paint” as we prepare for the Convention. Volunteers are needed to assist

during the convention. You can volunteer to assist an instructor and/or the Market-

place and Lana has a sign-up sheet.

We had an opening in our July schedule for a project. Lana presented a sample of a

Penny Webb project at our February meeting. It is a miniature clipboard mountain

scene in Acrylic. Penny Webb, who is a member of Decorative Artists of Jacksonville,

has agreed to teach us the Mountain Stream painting at our July 8th class. Penny can or-

der the clipboards for us from AC Moore for $1.00 each (or close to that). The clip-

boards make a great gift.

We have a wonderful selection of projects for 2017 and hopefully you will participate

in every session. And how about bringing a friend or someone just wanting to meet a

friendly group and learn new techniques?

We still need a few people to bring snacks and volunteer for set-up and cleanup. If you

have a little extra time during our sessions, please volunteer. Need to try out a new rec-

ipe? We will be your best critics!

Thanks to all for February’s snacks and set/up, clean/up.

Linda
