The Journal of Research ANGRAU, University level publication is indexed with Indian Citation Index (ICI) for citationsfrom scientific and student fraternity.Webcasting of Hon’ble PM address during 3 rd Global Potato Conclave is arranged by all KVKS. KisanMelas in various zones are conducted to create awareness on latest technologies. Extension scientists of the university From the Vice-Chancellor's Desk (V. The Orientation meeting on crop diagnostic bulletinspreparation was held at RARS, Lam on 09.1.2020.Dr. P. Rambabu, Director of Extension presided themeeting. In his remarks, he stated that the crop diagnosticbulletins are serving as ready reckoners for the farmersand field extension functionaries. Maize, Redgram,Bengalgram and Millets (Sorghum, Bajra and smallmillets) bulletins will be published, he added. Dr.S.B.S.Narasimha Rao, Principal Scientist andDirectorof Research representative said that the bulletins shallinclude latest information of pests and diseasesandcontrol measures that are time tested and proven infield conditions. Dr. G. Sivanarayana, PAIO, AI&CCsaid that the focus of the team members should be onthe symptoms of damage pertaining to pests, diseasesand nutrient related problems in the identified crops.Group Coordinators identified for the four crops - Dr.

Review Meeting of the “FarmingSystem for Nutrition (FSN) toaddress nutritional deficiencies inIndia” programme implemented inthree KVKs (KVK,Rastakuntubai; KVK, Reddipalliand KVK, Undi) of ANGRAUfunded by MSSRF, Chennai wasorganized on 07.1.2020 atRARS, Lam. Dr. B. Vijayabhinandana, PS & UniversityHead (Agril. Extension) invited the participants and statedthe objectives of the review meeting. Dr. P. Sports, Games, Cultural andLiterary Meet for Teaching FacultyAgricultural College, Mahanandi hosted the AnnualSports, Games, Cultural and Literary Meet for theteaching staff during 22nd to 24thJanuary, 2020. Sri T.V.Muralinatha Reddy, Member, Board of Management,ANGRAU was the Chief Guest. In his address, he saidthat Sports Meet is a recreational activity for teachingstaff from daily routine. Dr. S.R. Bangalore imparted first day training on STATCRAFT.

BoM, ANGRAU was the organizing secretary for the

workshop. The workshop is a self-financing event and

52 applicants were accommodated in the two-day

workshop. Faculty and students from various Universities

(Andhra University, Yogi Vemana University, JNTU,

Acharya Nagarjuna University, YSRHU and ANGRAU)

participated. The participants were trained on Descriptive

Statistics, Chisquare, ANOVA, t- test, correlation, logistic

regression, graphs, etc using both R and STATCRAFT.

One day Orientation Meeting on the Farming System forNutrition programme was organized on 11.2.2020 at RARS,Lam. Dr. V. Damodara Naidu, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor &Chief Guest stated that the main purpose of FSNdemonstration models is to design strategies for nutritionalsecurity that could be adopted at farmer level and 1.5 lakhrupees have been allotted to each of the three implementingKVKs in 2019 and 2020.Dr. R.V. Bhavani, Director ofAgriculture, Nutrition and Health Programme, MSSRF,Chennai stated that FSN demonstration programmes areimplemented in Orissa, Maharastra, Tamilnadu and AndhraPradesh and the main objective is to free rural familiesfrom nutritional deficiencies. Dr. P. Rambabu, Director ofExtension said that FSN models aims at combating caloriedeficiency, protein deficiency and nutrients deficiency of ruralfamilies. Dr. L. Umadevi, Dean of Home Science said thatthe FSN model aims at nurturing nutrition security at

QRT Team Reviews A.P. KVKsQuinquennial Review Meeting for the period of

2011-12 to 2018-19 for KVKs of Anantapur, Chittoor,Kadapa, Kurnool, Guntur, Nellore and Prakasam districtswas organized during 3rd - 06th of February, 2020 at RASS-KVK Vanasthali, Chittoor district. A team of Scientistsconstituted by Indian Council of Agricultural Research(ICAR) for QRT of A.P. KVKs- Dr. S.N. Puri, Chairman,QRT Team, Former Vice-Chancellor, CAU, Imphal andthe members Dr.A.M.Narula, Former Director, ATARI,Ludhiana; Dr. H. Philip, Former Director of Extension,TNAU, Coimbatore; Dr.N.Sudhakar, Former Director,ATARI, Hyderabad; Dr. N. Nagaraja, Former Director ofExtension, UAS, Bangalore and Dr. B.T.Rayudu, MemberSecretary, Principal Scientist, UAS, Bangalore visited andreviewed the activities of KVKs of Southern AndhraPradesh.

On Day 1, the QRT team visited Deendarlapalliand Chittecherla Villages to review the activities carried outby the RASS - KVK under NICRA Project. The teamvisited demonstration units of NRM activities. The teamalso participated in interaction meeting with farmers to obtainfeedback about climate resilient activities and know theimpact of NICRA interventions. On Day 2, the team visitedRASS-KVK, Vanasthali demo units at KVK Farm. Later,

they participated in stakeholder meeting with universityofficials and ATARI Scientists. In the afternoon, the teamreviewed the progress of all the participating KVKs whoseProgramme Coordinators delivered PowerPointPresentations. On Day 3, team visited instructional farm ofKrishiVigyan Kendra, Kalikiri and offered suggestions. OnDay 4, team visited Demonstration Units at instructionalfarm of RASS-KVK. They visited Seed Production units,Medicinal Plants nursery, vegetable nursery, pendal System,Soil Testing Lab, Ayurveda nilayam, Nutri garden, vermi-compost unit and mango orchard.

All the Krishi Vigyan Kendras of A.P. conducted one dayawareness programme on “Energy and water conservationmeasures on demand side management in AgriculturalSector” from 19.2.2020 to 07.3.2020. ProgrammeCoordinators briefed about the programme and explained

about the importance of energy saving in Agriculture sectorto the farmers and use of renewable energy sources.Otherspeakers stressed about the effective use of Pump sets,Motors and other electrical equipment in agriculture tocontrol transmission losses and to reduce tripping motors,pumpsets, generators and other electric equipment used inAgriculture. Engineers of Irrigation dept. being the resourcepersons explained about the conservation of rain waterthrough farm ponds, water harvesting structures, landlevelling practices to recharge the ground water and waterlevels. Officers of line dept. participated in the programme.A total of 100 farmers participated at each KVK andinteracted with the resource persons and Scientists regardingEnergy saving options and increased efficiency of existingPump sets.
