From the Pastor’s Heart VOLUME 2 August 17, 2014 NUMBER 33 “We have chosen the way of truth.” Psalm 119:30 Greetings Southside Family, We are so glad you chose to join us for worship this morning. Our prayer is that you will discover the presence of God as we worship today. Psalm 122:1 says, "I was glad when they said to me, "let us go to the house of the Lord." I pray that we reflect this attitude of excitement and expectation as we gather in the name of Jesus today. Next Sunday kicks off our revival with our guest evangelist Don Whitt. As I stated last week, genuine revival can be brought only by God. Collectively, let's pray fervently this week for a mighty move of God during our time of scheduled revival meetings. Prayer is the most significant aspect of revival meetings. Last week I shared with you that another critical aspect of revival is publicity. The most effective publicity is a personal invitation to attend. We will have "church on the streets" this afternoon beginning at 6pm. For those that are physically able to walk and hand out revival flyers, we will leave the church at 6pm to depart to different neighborhoods to distribute flyers. We are also providing a service in the sanctuary for those that cannot go out canvass- ing. A time of worship in song, Word, and prayer will be provided at 6pm. Next Sunday is also our annual "Kick-Off-Sunday". We encourage everyone to wear your favorite team apparel if you so desire. We have also scheduled a family fun-filled afternoon on the 24th beginning at 4:30pm. Water slides, games, and food will be provided. We will also be blessed once again to have the Dothan High Band performing for us at 5pm. It's going to be a great day of faith, fellowship, and fun. Please be in prayer for our Worship leader search team. The team consists of Lamar Glover, Steve Henderson, David Brannon, Amanda Barron, and Pam Ellis. Personally, I look forward to working with this team as we seek the man that God has in store for Southside. Love you church, Bro. Stacy

Good Morning Southside Friends,

I wanted to share some thoughts from a revival I went to this week. The pastor said, "Is your church a church where consumer appetite reigns? Do you leave church saying, I didn't get any-thing out of that? Church should be a place that people sense the need to know God. It is not about whether or not we enjoyed it, but rather did God enjoy it?" Something to think about.

Our CDC has gotten off to a wonderful start! It is exciting to see children around the campus during the week. Melanie is doing an outstanding job! If you see her, let her know how much we appreciate all of her hard work in getting things ready. It was a huge task on her part!

I know many of you like the old hymns so you will want to take advantage of the opportunity to hear many voices rising together in worship and praise on Sept. 18th from 10:00 - 12:00. The cost is $10.00 which includes lunch. I will need your money by Sept. 3rd. I only have 2 places left on the bus for our trip to the Ocean Club in Destin on Fri., Aug. 22nd. We will leave the church at 1:00 p.m. If you would like to go, please let me know today. I will confirm the reservation number this week.

Children, I am in the process of working on our annual Children's calendar of events. I think you will be excited about the things coming up. Watch the newsletter for the announcements. Wed. night, Sept. 3rd will kick off our brand new programs for the children. We will rotate Team Kids and Choir as we have done in the past. We have all brand new teachers. Please plan to bring your children or grandchildren. I think they will love it!

I will be away today to support Jerry as he leads a one day revival in Chatom, Alabama with Jerry and Monica Roberson and Debbie Wolfe. Please pray for us and the church today as well as our traveling mercies.

Love you church, Mrs. Rhonda
