From the Pastorrsquos Heart
Greetings Southside Family
We are so glad you chose to join us for worship today Our prayer is that you will be greatly blessed as we encounter the presence of the Lord in our worship time together Please stop by our guest table at the end of the service if you would like further information about our church
Next Sunday is ldquoKICK-OFF SUNDAYrdquo We are going to incorporate our new church year with the start of football Next Sunday we are go-ing to encourage everyone to wear their favorite team apparel We will also have a time of ldquoCHRISTIAN TAILGATINGrdquo on the softball field starting at 500 pm The church will provide sandwiches drinks and plenty of games The whole concept behind this great event is to bring someone with you to church on August 28th We are on the great-est team ever and that is team Jesus May God use this day to add to our team here at Southside
We are going to have some special services on Wednesday night in the month of September More information will be coming next week I am very excited about what God may have in store for us during our mid-week service in September
This afternoon we will start back with our ldquoOUTREACH BLITZrdquo We will meet in the fellowship hall at 500 pm Corporately we will go out together each month on the third Sunday at 500 pm For those that are not physically able to canvas the neighborhoods you may stay and write cards of encouragement to those who are inactive

What wonderful services we had last week as God poured out His Spirit among us Thank you Daniel for allowing God to use you to bless us with your testimony Your faith is evi-dent and it serves as an inspiration to us all
As I was reading one of my devotions this week I was reminded of this verse ldquoBut those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength They will soar on wings like eagles they will run and not grow weary they will walk and not be faintrdquo Isaiah 4031 There is nothing that brings me more peace than Godrsquos Word
Ladies we will be making more prayer blankets on Tues Sept 13th at 900 am If you would like to be a part join us in the fellowship hall and bring 1 frac12 yards of a solid color and 1 frac12 yards of a plaid
We still need nursery workers for Sunday morning and evening If you can help once a month we would appreciate it Also we still need a 3rd-5th grade Sunday School teacher for this church year I would urge you to prayerfully consider serving in these ministries
Sr Adult Game Day is this Fri Aug 26th from 1000 ndash 200 pm It will be a covered dish luncheon Sr Adults who signed up to go with us to eat at Redrsquos Little Schoolhouse we will leave at 300 pm this Saturday Sr Adult Luncheon will be Tues Sept 20th at 1200 pm Tickets will go on sale the first of September
Children in grades 1st ndash 6th we will be going to Adventure Land on Sept 9th from 500 ndash 730 pm The cost will be $1000 Please let me know if you plan to attend

Over the last few weeks the students have been going through 1 John on Wednes-day evenings During this study many of the passages have made us stop and take a deeper look into our walk with Christ One of the thought provoking statements made by John is ldquoBeloved I am writing you no new commandment but an old commandment that you had from the beginning The old commandment is the Word that you have heardrdquo (1 John 27 ESV) Here John is writing to a body of believers in Ephesus and before his exile to Pat-mos that the overarching principle of living for Christ is love
John in reference to the old commandment is recalling Deuteronomy 65 ldquoYou shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mightrdquo And also Leviticus 1918b ldquohellipbut you shall love your neighbor as yourselfhelliprdquo John in his writing is also recalling the words of Christ in Matthew 2237-40 Christ ex-hibited His love on Calvaryrsquos Cross ldquoWhile we were still sinners Christ died for usrdquo (Romans 58b ESV)

Good morning
Over the last few weeks the students have been going through 1 John on Wednes-day evenings During this study many of the passages have made us stop and take a deeper look into our walk with Christ One of the thought provoking statements made by John is ldquoBeloved I am writing you no new commandment but an old commandment that you had from the beginning The old commandment is the Word that you have heardrdquo (1 John 27 ESV) Here John is writing to a body of believers in Ephesus and before his exile to Pat-mos that the overarching principle of living for Christ is love
John in reference to the old commandment is recalling Deuteronomy 65 ldquoYou shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mightrdquo And also Leviticus 1918b ldquohellipbut you shall love your neighbor as yourselfhelliprdquo John in his writing is also recalling the words of Christ in Matthew 2237-40 Christ ex-hibited His love on Calvaryrsquos Cross ldquoWhile we were still sinners Christ died for usrdquo (Romans 58b ESV)
