It was her variaon of a poem that inspired her. Above the poem it stated, “For the Children of Calcua”. People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered; Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; Succeed anyway. If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; Be honest and frank anyway. What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight; Build anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; Be happy anyway. The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; Give the world the best you've got anyway. You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God; It was never between you and them anyway. In Love and Service, Greg

The mission of Ellisville First United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ through worship, spiritual growth, and service.

From the Pastor ... October 2016

As I mentioned a couple of Sunday’s ago, I have always had great admiration for

Mother Teresa. She was a person that had a lasting impact on the world. She

devoted her life. However, I wonder what impact we could make if we just

faithfully devoted some time. What would happen if we devoted some time for

our faith, time for our families, time to serve in church and time for others? What

would the effect be on our lives and the lives around us? In a world that needs

love seemingly now more than ever what would it do? I hope that you will ask

yourself these questions. I hope that it will challenge you to become more

engaged in your faith, family, church and the world around you. The following

poem was found on the wall of Mother Teresa’s room after her death. It was her

variation of a poem that inspired her. Above the poem it stated, “For the

Children of Calcutta”.

At the 2016 Session of the Mississippi Annual Con-ference, Bishop James E. Swanson Sr. announced the conference would be contributing to Imagine No Malaria, the United Methodist church-wide effort to overcome malaria in Africa and eliminate deaths caused by this preventable disease. Swan-son set the goal for the Mississippi Conference Mission Focus to provide 100,000 mosquito nets for Imagine No Malaria by the 2017 annual con-ference mission offering. Ten dollars will buy a mosquito net that will prevent the bite of the ma-laria-spreading mosquito since it feeds only at night. Four people are able to sleep under a single net, so each $10 gift goes a long way. Charity Gor-don will be speaking about this mission project on Wednesday, October 19 after the 6:00 p.m. sup-per meal. An offering will be taken after her presentation.

The church picnic will be held on Sunday, October 23 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at DiLar Pines, Larry and Diann Walters’ farm. See the map be-

low for directions. Bring a football, a baseball and glove, a fishing pole or whatever you want to bring, and don’t forget your lawn chair. We are also asking that you bring a side dish or dessert. Hamburgers and hotdogs will be provided and grilled by the United Methodist Men. We hope you will join us for this afternoon for food, fun, and fellowship.
