FOREWORD

This August brings about the grand finale sale on behalf of Harold and Pat Crapper who have

been on the holding at Cross Birches Farm for a family tenancy of nearly 60 years. The sale

comprises 21 superb Pedigree Birchcross Holsteins together with the full range of equipment

from the farm.

As many of you will know Harold and Pat have been absolute stalwarts of the Holstein Breed,

showing regularly every year with their Birchcross Holsteins. This has always been done with a

smile and a few friendly words which is why they are so popular wherever they go.

Most recently this has been at Bakewell and Ashover Shows where in the last 3 years they have

won Heifer Champion also winning Supreme in 2013 and 2014.

After two Herd sales in 1990 and 1995 and also a machinery sale the time has finally come for

Harold and Pat to truly retire, the tenancy of Cross Birches Farm having been relinquished.

Friday 19th August is essentially D-Day for the two of them when all machinery and sundries

will be sold along with the 21 final Birchcross animals. There is no doubt that this will be a

bittersweet day for Harold and Pat however their intention is to celebrate a lifetimes work and it

will, like everything they do, be done in absolute style.

The sale features 3 calved animals, a second calver and 2 heifers, 6 In-calf Heifers and 11

Youngstock and includes a number of superb pedigrees, descendants from some of the many

choice purchases Harold and Pat have made in the past.

The 3 calved animals are milking well with Glitter (Lot 6) only in the last 2 weeks taking the

breed Champion Heifer at Bakewell Show. The In-calf heifers, as you would expect are showing

strength, power and a tremendous amount of promise. Virtually all are In-calf to sexed semen so

the almost certain guarantee of a stylish heifer calf is a great attraction to any potential purchaser.

The 12 youngsters also show a great deal of promise and will certainly have the show potential

and quality for anyone seeking a prospect for the showing scene.

Lovely sires feature throughout and include Maple-Downs-I G W Atwood, Zelgadis, Toc-Farm

Duplex Glauco, JK Eder-I Control with the most recent crop of heifer calves being by Crackholm

Fever and Bertaiola Mincio.

This is a most tremendous opportunity to purchase some fantastic animals with attendance and

inspection on the 19th August a must.

The sale also includes a lovely range of machinery and sundries that have been immaculately

kept.

The John Deere 6120 4WD was purchased new onto the farm in Autumn 2002 and is in superb

order having undertaken under 2000 hours.

The Haybob together with other items are extremely well cared for with many items in superb

order.

Page 3: From the Highly Respected BIRCHCROSS Herd of Harold & Pat ... · your left. From Dronfield take the B6158 towards Coal Aston and travel into the village and down past The Chequers

Specific items relating to the rural cattle showman include the Steel Metal Showmans Stall

Arrangement together with show boxes, show collars etc and there is a large and varied range of

small workshop equipment including generator, hot water washer, workshop compressor etc all

in very good order.

Perusal of the catalogue will also reveal that Harold and Pat are now de-registered for VAT and

therefore all items of machinery, sundries and effects will be sold free of VAT.

Purchasers should attend and bid with confidence at this very genuine sale as the tenancy has

now been relinquished and Mr and Mrs Crapper are moving to another local village.
