“Skimming” is a common tool used by fraudsters to obtain your debit and credit card information. One routine target for such theft is gas station pumps. In this, a skimming device is inserted at the gas pump in order to record card numbers on a memory chip. Once the skimming device is removed, the data is downloaded giving fraudsters your card information. To protect yourself against skimming, please be sure to pay inside the gas station and not at the pump.
