A TIME TO FIX OUR LIVES

WELCOME TO OUR WEEKLY PARISH BULLETIN! Our Collaborative’s Carnival party last Saturday went very smoothly. It was a family cultural time of relaxing and rejoic-ing as we try to move forward in getting ready for the up-coming season of Lent. Since the end of our last fundraising where we collected an amount of US $35,264.10 for the installation of a new carpet at Saint Angela’s church and other capital improvements, many parishioners have been waiting patiently for the beginning of the installation work. I once again take great pleasure in thanking all and each one of you who have helped us raise that fund. As good news, I can now inform you that very soon we will begin working to provide Saint Angela’s with a new carpet that will definitely enhance the beauty of our church. Doing such a work dur-ing Lent can be a good sign to help us envision that season as a time of renewal to also fix our lives. For Lent is our an-nual forty-day retreat to renew ourselves in faith and pre-pare for the joy of Easter. It is a season to ponder the fol-lowing questions: what have we done with our lives so far? What is truly worthwhile? Where do we invest the most in our lives? Being too busy and wrapped up in the idols of the world makes many ignore God, neglect their families, and even themselves. There’s a choice to make. Lent is a time to affirm and confirm our choice. The desert is now before us, a necessary step to the Promised Land. There’s no Promised Land without a desert! There’s no Easter without Lent! There’s no Resurrection without Crucifixion! There’s no glory without the cross! Pope Francis invites us to make Lent ‘the time to bring God’s mercy into the human desert.’ HAPPY LENT TO EACH OF YOU! Fr. Breneville

That our gifts to the Catholic Appeal will enable its many ministries to spread the Gospel message and give aid and comfort to those in need here at SAINT ANGELA/SAINT MATTHEW and throughout our Church. That through supporting the Catholic Appeal, we may be strengthened in unity as we work together to help all of us here at SAINT ANGELA/SAINT MATTHEW live our faith together. February 29/March 1 Next weekend, we will officially launch the 2020 Catholic Appeal in our parish. Each year, we are called to make a gift to the Appeal so that we can support the Archdiocese and the many Central Minis-tries that make our parishes, schools, and communi-ties stronger. This is our Church and every gift to the Appeal makes an important difference in the lives of so many. If you would like more information, or to make an early gift online, please visit the new and improved Catholic Appeal website at bostoncatholi-cappeal.org. Thank you in advance for your generosi-ty!

Fr. Massillon

March 1 ~ The First Sunday of Lent Jesus was like us in all things but sin. In today’s gospel, Jesus is tempted over and over but does not give in to the temptations. This first Sunday in Lent is a good time to look at our lives and to ask ourselves what tempts us away from God and from the light of Christ. There are three spiritual practices of Lent that are intended to help us im-prove our relationship with God: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Which of these practices will be most helpful to you in avoiding temptation this Lent? Don’t wait. . . start today!

Premye Mas ~ Premye Dimanch Tan Karèm Jezi te menm jan ak nou lan tout bagay, sèl peche li pa t konn fè. Lan Bòn Nouvèl jodi an, Jezi tante konbyen fwa, men li pa tonbe anba tantasyon yo.
