Donald Trump's father started TheTrump Organization, and wasmoderately successful selling realestate, and the son followed inthose footsteps.
As Trump tells the story, he knewhe would need access to wealthyclients to swing large deals, so theyoung Trump wangledmembership in an "exclusive" NewYork social club, to makecontacts.
He made contacts, made deals,and kept coming out ahead. As his
fortune grew, Trump built theGrand Hyatt (the biggest hotelconstructed in New York since the1950s), and the Taj Mahal casino,and Trump Tower, and TrumpPlaza, etc.
