CONTRACTORS Kings Pointe has many Contractors (hereinafter the word "Vendor" will no longer be used) with their own specialties coming into the park. I am keeping track of all the Contractors that do a great job and also those that have been taking advantage of our residents. Residents using a Contractor need to continue to return completely filled out (Contractor's name, address, telephone number[s]and contact person), along with your rating of them with any notes you want to add so that I can run a file system and keep it current. The Contractor Forms that are not filled out legibly, clearly, completely, will not be used. If they have a business card, staple it to the Contractor Form and put it in the box. Please make sure all Contractors are insured/bonded for your peace of mind. Contractor forms should be returned to the Activities Bulletin Board where there is a mail box so that I can update the list every six months. To get the best referred Contractors, with the greatest ratings, you can contact any Board Member who has the updated, complete list. Give me a call with any other questions; I will be glad to help!! Thank you in advance, Bob Pelletier

EDITOR’S NOTES Barb Van Epps ([email protected])

If you missed the Halloween party, you missed a good time. I’m still amazed by the amount of creative minds living in our community. The Halloween costumes were evidence of this, as was the craft sale.

It’s going to be very busy this month, but take time to slow down and enjoy the season. My best wishes to all of you for a happy and joyous holiday season.

My thanks to Pam Pullen for proofreading this Newsletter.

The cutoff date for the January Newsletter will be December 15, 2014.

TRADING POST FOR SALE TO HIGHEST BIDDER The 47 inch Samsung TV set that was in the clubhouse is available for purchase, as is where is, to the highest bidder. Please submit your bid to Rosalie Francese at 863-409-7381 by December 15th, 2014

THANK YOU NOTES I want to thank everyone who sent me a sympathy card for my mom. God Bless You.

Anna Bellizzie

My heartfelt THANKS to my friends & neighbors for all the "well wishes" that I have received during my recouping from foot surgery. They were greatly appreciated. As you all hear over & over again, "This is a great community to live in!" Rosalie Francese

SAD NEWS

On November 9, 2014, Marie Venton's brother, Bob Wood, passed away at the age of 69. He had been fairly healthy up until recently when he suddenly had a couple of heart attacks, 2 strokes as well as 2 more strokes the day he died. Our condolences go out to Marie and other members of her family.

Cathy Arcarese, former resident of Trade Wind Court, passed away up in NJ on October 25, 2014. She had been ill for quite a while and she and Joe moved back to NJ to be with family. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Joe and the rest of the Arcarese family.

Jack Benson, former long-time resident of Club Hill Road, passed away on November 3, 2014 after some age-related illnesses. He was very active in our Veterans organization and his wife, June, who predeceased him several years ago, was very involved in Activities here in the park.

BOOK CLUB Yvonne Fitts The Book Club will meet on Dec. 3rd at 11:30 at the clubhouse for discussion on the book DISCLOSURE by author MICHAEL CRIEGHTON. After discussion, we will be traveling to Tanners Lakeside Restaurant on Lake Howard Drive, Winter Haven for lunch. Just a heads up; the book suggested for January will be A MAN TO DIE FOR by author EILEEN DREYER and lunch will be at Langs Restaurant. If you are not a reader but would like to join us for lunch, please meet us at the clubhouse at 12:00pm.

MATELESS WONDERS Pam Pullen & Sue Seymour

The Mateless Wonders did not meet during November. Also, our October gathering ended up being held at Applebee's because the Harborside Restaurant had not reopened as scheduled. Our December gathering will be at the clubhouse for a pot luck dinner and Christmas gift exchange on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. If you plan to attend, please sign your name on the sign-up sheet posted in the clubhouse, indicating what you will bring as a dish to share. Please contact Pam or Sue with any questions.

BIBLE STUDY Shirley Sanders

Just to let you know that we will NOT be having Thursday 2pm Bible Study until after January 1st. Time will be posted in the clubhouse for anyone interested. Thanks

LADIES LUNCHEON

We are having our Christmas Ladies Luncheon at the clubhouse and each attendee is asked to bring a dish to pass. Lunch is at 12 noon December 10, 2014. Instead of exchanging gifts, we may either bring a gift for Toys for Tots or a donation for the Humane Society of Lake Alfred. I will post more information about the Humane Society as I get it. Please join us. Michael McCraney is going to DJ for us and, hopefully, entertain us. Any questions, please call Sue at 956-0525.

GARDEN CLUB Nancy Higgins The Garden Club held a plant exchange on November 12th. Jannie Taggart hosted the event. The Garden Club also participated in the craft and bake sale with a plant sale. We offered great prices and will have another sale in the spring. We also welcomed two new members. December 10th we are taking a field trip to Leu gardens in Orlando. The club will also make their fresh green centerpieces in December.

HANDICRAFTERS Phyllis Wiepert

Handicrafters of Kings Pointe have done a wonderful job of making special hats for the babies at Heart of Florida Hospital for the Holidays. Thanks to all who are contributing to our project, using scraps of yarn to make knit or crocheted blocks. We have completed 5 blankets with these. Thanks also for a donation for yarn fund from Ron Chaisson, son of Lionel and Jeannie Chaisson.

EARLY RISERS BREAKFAST CLUB Yvonne Fitts

The Early Risers will meet at Lake Alfred Café on Dec.18th at 8am for breakfast, friendship and great conversation. Join us please.

CITIZEN ASSISTED PATROL Dick Cross

This month CAP completed 210 patrols for a total of 575 volunteer hours.

Anyone interested in joining the CAP Program, please call Dick Cross at 863 956-0067. Thanks to all our volunteers.

TEXAS HOLD-EM Sal LoBianco

I don't think we are ever going to have a Tournament of Champs. In order to have that, we need seven different winners for each month we play. Well, Lou has won the last three times we played. But on a different note, nice playing Lou. This month we will have some new blood in the game. Let’s see what happens. I'm hoping to get 21 players in the next few months. New players are always welcome, so try your luck. It’s a fun 3 hours of playing cards. Our winners this month were Lou Schuitema, first; Steve Mayforth, second and Larry Young, third. Our next game is on Dec. 6th so sign up and I'll see you all then.

Please, all wives of our Veterans Organization, join us. Sal and Jaye will provide a very nice breakfast for you. We will be discussing our Annual Dinner to be held on Jan 24, 2015. Who Do You Call? With so many repairmen out there, how do you decide who to call when you need some work done? We want to give you a place to start your search. The Kings Pointe HOA would like your input to help compile a list of contractors who have done work for homeowners in the park. Sometimes a contractor’s work is excellent and we want to tell everyone about it. Sometimes their work is not up to par and we want to tell our neighbors about that, too. Below you will find a form to use to give us your feedback about contractors you have used. This should also include people within the park (non-businesses) who have done work for you. Please take a few minutes to fill it out, telling us the good, the bad and the ugly. Return your completed form to the box in the clubhouse lobby. If you need additional forms, they will also be available there.

KINGS POINTE CONTRACTOR RECOMMENDATION FORM

Please take a few moments to let us know about contractors you have used over the past few years and let us know about your experiences with them. Fill out a section for each contractor you have used. Rate them from 1 star (not very good) to 5 stars (excellent work). Add any comments (pros and cons) you wish to explain your rating.
