Advice for bus users

How to use the bus

• At the stop or shelter please indicate clearly to the bus driver that you intend to get on the bus.

• When you get on the bus please tell the driver where you are going.• If you can give the exact fare, please do so.• When you are getting close to the stop where you want to get off

please ring the bell once, then stay in your seat until the bus stops.• Smoking is not allowed on any buses.• For the safety and security of passengers all bus stations, some bus

stops and some buses are fitted with CCTV equipment.• In country areas where there are no bus stops, DalesBus services will

stop anywhere it is safe to do so. Again, please indicate clearly to the bus driver that you intend to get on the bus. Avoid waiting near bends or narrow sections of the road where it would be unsafe for the bus to stop.

• Please note that DalesBus services 74A, 821, 874 and 875 operate on a limited stop basis in West Yorkshire – see page 62 for details.

Every care and attention has been taken to ensure the accuracy of the information contained in this publication, however West Yorkshire Combined Authority, North Yorkshire County Council and the Dales & Bowland Community Interest Company accept no responsibility for any inconvenience or loss caused as a result of alterations or inaccuracies.

Using our bus stations safely

When using Metro’s bus stations in West Yorkshire:• Directional signs and notices are there for your safety,

please follow them.• Please follow instructions given by the station staff in the event

of an evacuation of the bus station.• Do not walk in the bus area at any time.• Ask one of our customer advisors or security staff if you are unsure

where to go.• Follow any safety announcements or directions given out

over the bus station public address system.• Do not leave luggage unattended. Keep your own belongings

with you at all times.
