HE FAST TRACK TO COLLEGEhe Leadership Scholar Program (LSP) can assist qualified Marines/Sailors to gain acceptance at some of the finest colleges and universities in the

ountry. These institutions have agreed to a fast track of admission for LSP screened candidates. Originally launched with the California State Univty System, the program has grown and been formalized Marine Corps-wide. Currently, the LSP has over 190 institutions in 39 States participatinith a long-range goal of having at least two colleges/universities in each state. LSP applicants are active duty, reserve or veteran Marines/Sailorho are planning to attend a school as a freshman or transfer student. Applicants, who are active duty Marines/Sailors, must:Be honorably discharged prior to the beginning of the school semester in which they plan to enroll.Be a high school graduate.

Possess a minimum combined score of 70 or higher on the Armed Forces Qualification Test and a General Technical score of 115 or higher.pplications are screened to ensure they meet the requirements of the institution to which the Marine/Sailor wishes to apply and then forwarded tohe admissions office for a final decision. Academic Institutions set their own requirements for admissions and may vary from place to place. Aca-emic Institutions may require SAT or ACT scores as part of admission. ORTUNE magazine has been conducting innovative programs for young women from around the world for the last six years. This year they are intrucing Notebook Mentoring, a new high school program that's focused on daughters of U.S. service members. The event will begin in October with apecial afternoon/evening at FORTUNE's annual Most Powerful Women Summit in Laguna Niguel, California, followed by dinner and a reception.

ORTUNE's top editors will open the session with a lesson on the Art of the Interview, a discussion of the importance of developing strong questioninkills that can guide these young women through their studies and career. The high school mentees will then watch a live interview with three top feale leaders. The f inal forty minutes will be used to connect the high school women directly with the mentors in the room. The mentors will be selec

om the Most Powerful Women conference attendees, a group that includes the country's most successful women in business, entertainment and grnment. (Previous mentors include women like Sally Ride, Billy Jean King, Geena Davis, and fashion designer Tory Burch.) The mentees, armed withheir notebooks, will get the chance to interview four different global leaders. The mentees will be offered the opportunity to write about their inter-ews in a blog or printed format after the session. The experience will continue with a chance to join the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit opeg reception and dinner, where the high school women (mentees) will meet leaders from all over the world.
