About Ladies of Charity – Lake Travis Thrift Shop
(“Thrift Shop”)
The Thrift Shop was started by the Ladies of Charity in 1991 to provide financial support to Lake Travis Crisis Ministries (“LTCM”) our local food bank and crisis center. We continue to be the largest funder of LTCM.
Ladies of Charity is a 400 year old international organization with the mission “to serve, rather than be served”. Each chapter is independent. The Lake Travis chapter is the second largest in the U.S. in terms of aide provided and volunteer hours.
Our Thrift Shop is the largest provider of aid in the Lake Travis ISD area having provided over $3,000,000 in financial support and over $3,000,000 in In-Kind donations.
We provide funding for several shelters for the homeless including Mobile Loaves andFishes Community First! Village, Mary House Catholic Worker and Saint Louise House. In addition to LTCM we support the food bank/crisis centers in Briarcliff and Spicewood.
The Thrift Shop has partnered with the Lake Travis/Lakeway Rotary Club to provide education scholarships, for LTHS Seniors.
The Thrift Shop is staffed by a very ecumenical group of volunteers from Lakeway, Bee Cave, Steiner Ranch, Cedar Park and other surrounding areas. The volunteers donate over 36,000 hours of service each year.
Local chapters of National Charity League and Young Men’s Service League learn the value of community service by volunteering with us.

What We Do
The Thrift Shop resells, re-distributes, repurposes, and recycles donated items.
The proceeds support twenty five plus 501(c)(3) ‘boots on the ground’ charities. We provide operating costs so they can do the work they need to do.
Why Do We Need to Build?
We have outgrown our third location due to sustained growth and success.
Our leasing costs continue to rise. We have limited space for sorting & selling.
We need your help to get from here: Providing $250,000 in financial support each year.
