DESCRIPTION

In 2011, a group of Americans went to Tanzania on safari, and to celebrate the opening of a clinic for Maasai women and children. We stopped at the Children Concern Foundation (CCF), a small orphanage located on the road to the Serengeti, where 36 children were living in a small, cramped, rented house. No electricity, no place for the children to play, and only two small bedrooms where children slept two and three to a bed. We were very impressed with the two directors of the orphanage and their dedication, and of course, we fell in love with the children. Several of us vowed to do what we could to make a difference in the lives of these children and to help the orphanage develop a sustainable future. In 2012, KC Cannon and Betsy Collard established Friends of Children Concern Foundation (FCCF) and it has been an incredible journey ever since. We operate 100% on donations, and have done amazing things in only a few years. Help us continue this amazing work...Donate Today!

!Dear Friends, It’s incredible to think that it’s now been two years since Friends of CCF was founded. Over these two years, we have been awed and humbled to see a tremendous growth in the community of friends who have come together to help support CCF and the 36 children it serves. We were delighted this fall to see CCF recognized by the Tanzanian National Torch March and honored as one of the country’s outstanding organizations. Because of your support, we have been able to keep CCF running another year, in addition to some pretty exciting accomplishments:

• We built two dorms, a dining/multipurpose building, and a two-room preschool house, enabling CCF to move into a permanent home. Now every child has a bed of their own, safe water to drink and safe places to play. A truly wonderful accomplishment!

• 400 trees were planted to provide shade and reduce wind and dust. There is an

impressive chicken coop with chicken and eggs and a vegetable garden that provides the children with a better diet, and helps CCF build greater future sustainability.

• We installed blackboards and purchased desks for the students and teachers at the

local government school to reduce the number of children sharing a desk and create a better learning environment.

• We established an after school enrichment program at CCF to supplement the local

government school’s curriculum, and we started a small library in the multipurpose room with books in both Swahili and English.

• We helped pay for the medical care for all 36 children that includes a visiting nurse

twice a week. This year FCCF funds paid for the treatment of more than 18 cases of Malaria, an outbreak of measles, regular inoculations, and the ongoing treatment of children with special needs.

We feel incredibly blessed to have come this far. However, the work has only just begun…

Now that the children have a permanent and safe home, we are able to move our focus to the ongoing operational needs of the orphanage: support for food, education, medical needs, and the loving care for the children. When you consider your charitable giving this holiday season we hope it will include a gift to FCCF. As always, 100% of money we raise will go directly to support the children at CCF. This year we are delighted to announce that we have been given $10,000 in matching funds, enabling your gift to be matched dollar for dollar if we receive it by December 31, 2014. You can contribute either by returning the enclosed envelope…or by going to our website, childrenconcern.org and clicking on the DONATE button. Wishing you much happiness this holiday season and best wishes for a happy 2015! With tremendous gratitude from the CCF / FCCF Team, KC, Betsy, Andrew & Peter
