Friends Newsletter We were very excited to hand over 4 blankets to John Wilemsen at the end of October for the Link Shoebox appeal. They will be packed around the shoe boxes as an exta gift for those in need. Special thanks go to Teresa Dickie, Lesley Hummerston and Audrey Hogston for the amount of squares they produced between them and all the sewing up they did. Also to Wendy Rutterford for all the wool she supplied. We are now nearly fully booked for Christmas lunches. At the time of writing we have just 7 spaces left at 12.15pm on Tuesday 9 th December, 5 spaces left at 12.15pm on Wednesday 17 th December and a quite a number of spaces available on Thursday 4 th December 12.15 & 1pm or Wednesday 17 th December at 1pm. If you have booked please make sure you have paid your £5 deposit and told us your menu choices by November 17 th . We will, very shortly, be making a start on the volunteer’s rota for December and particularly the Christmas lunch days. It may mean that our normal shift pattern will need to change and we definitely will need more staff on a Christmas lunch day. Do please consider if you are able to do an extra shift on 1 st , 4 th , 9 th , 12 th or 17 th and let us know ASAP. On the subject of Volunteers, Bethan has been organising the Saturday rota for next year and there are still a few gaps. For those of you who don’t know, the Saturday rota is on a 6 week rotation so each team only works 1 Saturday in 6. You can volunteer for as little as 2hrs once every six weeks, to as much as a whole day, 10am-3pm. If you have never volunteered with us before or it’s been a while, we are more than happy to give training/ refresher training. In the run up to Christmas, we will be taking a selection of Cornerstone stock to a number of events in the local area. On 22 nd November 2.30-4.30pm, we will be at St John’s Autumn Fair and on 5 th December we will be at Wantage Dickensian Evening. Please do pray that our stalls will be successful, not just in sales but in promoting the Cornerstone. If you are available to help at either of these events, do let me know. Our main meal this month will be a Roast Dinner on Wednesday 26 th November. Do look out for posters in the shop and on our website for more information. Don’t forget our Prayer Breakfast this Saturday 8 th November. I won’t be able to make it, I’m afraid, but I will be with you in spirit. God Bless Sarah Shewring

We were very excited to hand over 4 blankets to John Wilemsen

at the end of October for the Link Shoebox appeal. They will be

packed around the shoe boxes as an exta gift for those in need.

Special thanks go to Teresa Dickie,

Lesley Hummerston and Audrey

Hogston for the amount of squares

they produced between them and all

the sewing up they did. Also to

Wendy Rutterford for all the wool she

supplied.

We are now nearly fully booked for Christmas lunches. At the time of writing we have just 7 spaces

left at 12.15pm on Tuesday 9th

December, 5 spaces left at 12.15pm on Wednesday 17th

December

and a quite a number of spaces available on Thursday 4th

December 12.15 & 1pm or Wednesday 17th

December at 1pm. If you have booked please make sure you have paid your £5 deposit and told us

your menu choices by November 17th

.

We will, very shortly, be making a start on the volunteer’s rota for December and particularly the

Christmas lunch days. It may mean that our normal shift pattern will need to change and we

definitely will need more staff on a Christmas lunch day. Do please consider if you are able to do an

extra shift on 1st

, 4th

, 9th

, 12th

or 17th

and let us know ASAP.

On the subject of Volunteers, Bethan has been organising the Saturday rota for next year and there

are still a few gaps. For those of you who don’t know, the Saturday rota is on a 6 week rotation so

each team only works 1 Saturday in 6. You can volunteer for as little as 2hrs once every six weeks, to

as much as a whole day, 10am-3pm. If you have never volunteered with us before or it’s been a

while, we are more than happy to give training/ refresher training.

In the run up to Christmas, we will be taking a selection of

Cornerstone stock to a number of events in the local area. On 22nd

November 2.30-4.30pm, we will be at St John’s Autumn Fair and on

5th

December we will be at Wantage Dickensian Evening. Please do

pray that our stalls will be successful, not just in sales but in

promoting the Cornerstone. If you are available to help at either of

these events, do let me know.

Our main meal this month will be a Roast Dinner on Wednesday 26th

November. Do look out for

posters in the shop and on our website for more information.

Don’t forget our Prayer Breakfast this Saturday 8th

November. I won’t be able to make it, I’m afraid,

but I will be with you in spirit.
