The most prestigious of the awards given at the assemblies are the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) Citizenship Awards. Two recipients are selected from the eighth grade class and two from the senior class to receive the awards. The awards are given to the girl and boy who have proved to be the most outstanding citizens of their school. The KSHSAA only gives two awards to each school, one boy and one girl, each year.
