Reminders & Information

After school clubs for children attend-

ing April and May sessions start next

week—please ensure they are collected

promptly at 4.15 p.m.

Please remember others when parking

outside school—we have already

received calls from our neighbours

reporting that driveways are being

blocked by parents bringing children

to and, collecting them from school.

You will remember that earlier in the

year, we informed you that we would

not telephone home for things that

children had forgotten to bring to

school e.g. PE/swimming kit, home-

work etc. The reason for this is that

we try to encourage children’s

independence and for them to accept

responsibility for their actions; this is

particularly important for children in

Year 6 in preparation for transfer to

senior school.

Breakfast club starts at 8.00 a.m. and

children should arrive no later that

8.15 a.m. in order to have sufficient

time to be served and eat their break-

fast. As numbers at breakfast club are

growing, please ensure that you book

your child in with the office at least

one day in advance. Current cost is

£1.40

Please remember to inform school of

any changes in contact details for use

in case of emergency.

Thank you for your continued support!

Summer Dress Code

As the warmer weather approaches we would like to remind you of our summer dress code: Girls — blue gingham dresses with cardigan or sweatshirt bearing school logo or grey or navy school shorts with school polo shirt or white blouse with school cardigan or sweatshirt. Boys—Grey or navy school shorts with white polo shirt and sweatshirt bearing school logo. Polo shirts can be ordered via the school office. Please also remember that your child needs to bring his/her school PE kit on Mondays. Again PE kits can be obtained via the office.

Luke Base 8 will have his name included on the fin of the Bloodhound SSC jet and rocket powered car when it attempts to break the 1,000mph land speed record in two year’s time. KS1 Class News

The children in Base 1 have been extremely busy this week; they

have made invitations to the Queen’s birthday party and flags to

celebrate St George’s Day. They are also very excited as they have

some caterpillars in their class and they have been studying them in

order to retell the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

In Base 2, as well as making information booklets to send to Sam from the

Exotic Zoo, the children have made and sent birthday cards t the Queen.

They have also undertaken science experiments this week; they had fake mini-

beasts frozen in ice cubes and were developing ways on how to make the ice

melt ~ this was a very enjoyable activity.

Sam’s visit also impressed the children in Base 3 as they too, have been

writing reports about the animals they saw. This led in nicely to their P4C

lessons when they discussed whether or not to have a pet and what they

need to do to look after it. In geography, the children have been making

maps of Katie-Morag’s Island.

The children in Base 4 have carried out research about the Queen this week.

They have written a letter to her, made a fact-file and created a time-line

about her reign.
