Kingdown Week Friday 18th January 2019 Number 16, 2019 On Friday 25th January, Kingdown is launching its first ever ‘Plastic Free Friday’. We want to raise awareness amongst students and the wider community about our aspiration in school to avoid using single-use plastics in the future. We are therefore asking all students and staff on this day to: • Bring a reusable drinks container to school, and not use single-use drinks bottles • Ensure packed lunches or purchased food items are not wrapped in disposable plastic materials • Bring a container to school (and cutlery where required) for hot drinks or takeaway food items purchased from our food outlets. Remember that this also offers a discount on the price of these products! We hope very much that you will support us in this approach, which is part of a range of initiatives underway at Kingdown to raise awareness of our impact on the environment. If you have any further ideas for ways we can improve the Kingdown environment, or ideas for reducing our environmental footprint, please do feel free to get in touch. Mr Locke Headteacher Star Of The Week! This week’s star is Mim Gray (Year 7 Wembley), who has achieved the most reward points of any student in the last week!
