fresh start scholarship foundation

Fresh Start Scholarship Foundation began 24 years ago, giving one scholarship to a homeless woman who was living in her car when she started. She graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Accounting with a 4.0 GPA and was able to go on to build a career in the financial industry. Since that time, we have given an additional $1.1 million in scholarships to hundreds of women. We now have the gratification of claiming over 140 Fresh Start graduates! The second half of our fiscal year was unusual, hard, unpredictable, scary, and cruel to so many. Our scholars were no exception, but despite all of the uncertainty and pivoting to online platforms, nine of our 37 scholars graduated as planned last spring. They figured out how, and got it done! We salute them and all of our scholars for all of their hard work and perseverance in normal times, but many of them are now working from home or have lost their jobs, are needing to help their children report for online learning, all while trying to continue their own school work. As always, the Fresh Start Mentors are there to encourage, help, and cheerlead. We hope all of you were able to tune in for our virtual annual Rising Stars fundraising event in October, but if you missed it or would like to see parts of it again, please search for “Fresh Start Scholarship Foundation” at YouTube. com. We have also posted the 2020 Rising Stars Scholar video there where you will see the stories of five of our scholars in their own words. It is very powerful and moving, and they will remind you why we do what we do to help them get to the graduation finish line (and beyond)! We thank you, our Fresh Start Family, for all that you do to support our organization, and, more specifically, our fantastic scholars!
