Connected to its sister islands by water
and by air — the landing strip sits atop
Motu Mute, one of the reef’s islets —
Bora Bora remains relatively unspoiled
by the modern world.
ABOUT LE TRUCKSLocal transportation in French Polynesia isby island bus Le Truck. The buses are verybasic — there is no air-conditioning andoften no PA system. If you ride aboard a LeTruck, and you have a bad back, take atowel along to help cushion the ride.
VAITAPEAmong the sights of this quaint villageis the tomb of French navigator AlainGerbault, who solo circumnavigated theglobe during 1920.
MARAESRuins of ancient Polynesian open-airtemples are found throughout theFarepiti, Faanui and Anau districts.
WORLD WAR II RELICSBora Bora was a U.S. supply base duringWorld War II; naval gun sites can still be seen.
PAOPOA POINT AND MATIRA POINT
Spectacular viewpoints on the island.
Majestic mountains sculpted by ancientvolcanoes, a shimmering lagoon and abarrier reef dotted with tiny motu, or islets—welcome to Bora Bora, perhaps the moststunning island in the South Pacific.
Only 4,600 people live a seemingly idyllic lifestyle in the main
villages of Vaitape, Anau and Faanui. No wonder those
generations of travelers — including novelist James Michener —
regarded Bora Bora as an earthly paradise.
Note: Bora Bora is an anchorage port. Transportation from the ship to shore will be viathe ship’s tender service.

on the Bounty, who could blame the men of HMS Bounty for
abandoning their ship in favor of basking in paradise? And what

Q. DO THE TOURS INCLUDE MUCH WALKING ANDSTAIR CLIMBING?
A. All of our excursions involve some walking and some excursionsinclude more walking and stair climbing than others. Walking may beover uneven surfaces such as cobblestone city streets or the rockypathways of ancient ruins. On many tours, it is necessary to negoti-ate stairs. Pleaserefer to our tour symbols following each tour description for moreinformation and guidance.
Q. WHAT DOES PRINCESS DO TO ENSURE MY SAFETYWHILE I’M ASHORE?
A. Our primary concern at Princess is your safety and security. We are in continuing contact with authorities concerning anytravel advisories that might impact our cruises. If the U.S. StateDepartment advises against travel to specific locations we visit,we would make the necessary changes to the published itinerary.
Although such itinerary changes occur infrequently, please under-stand that these changes are for your own safety and securityand are beyond our control.
Despite all of our efforts and in light of recent world events, weremind all of our passengers that they must ultimately assumeresponsibility for their actions while ashore. In this regard, wewould like to remind you of some common sense precautionswhen visiting ports of call:
• Stay in the normal tourist areas and don’t travel to out-of-the-way places without the benefit of a guided tour.
• Do not leave any of your belongings unattended inpublic areas.
• Be generally aware of people and activities around you.
• Do not accept packages from anyone you don’t knowpersonally.
• Keep a low profile — dress and behave conservatively.
• Be careful when eating and drinking ashore.
We thank you in advance for following these recommendations, which we believe will enhance the enjoyment of your cruise.
Q. WHAT ELSE SHOULD I ANTICIPATE IN PORTS?
A. Keep in mind that some sites you’ll be visiting are extremelypopular among both tourists and locals. Therefore, you mayencounter crowded conditions, whether participating in one ofour tours or sightseeing on your own. Regrettably, we have nocontrol over this situation.
With regard to photography, some venues may prohibit the use offlash cameras, so fast-speed film is recommended. In some places, photography may be prohibited altogether or a fee may be imposedfor the use of cameras or video cameras. We ask that you observeany restrictions and, if in doubt, ask your guide for assistance.
Q. WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR PHYSICALLYCHALLENGED PASSENGERS?
A. Our answer, of course, depends on the type and degree ofthe disability. In general, if passengers are able to walk on theirown, we recommend those tours that we designated as requiringa moderate level of activity (see Tour Symbols section inside thefront cover). The transport on some tours may be able to accom-modate a collapsible wheelchair stored below the bus; scooters ormotorized wheelchairs are often too large to be stored on thetransports used for the tours. If passengers are non-ambulatory, wegenerally recommend independent transportation for their comfort andconvenience. Our Shore Excursion staff can provide them with sug-gested tour itineraries. We also recommend that non-ambulatorypassengers be accompanied by someone who is able to assistthem throughout the duration of the tour.
For more information on the terms and conditions for AdventuresAshore, please refer to the Special Information section.
Every effort will be made to accommodate all passengers onthe tour of their choice but, tours are operated by independentlocal companies and not by Princess. The final determination tolet any passenger participate is made by the tour operator andtherefore if, in the judgement of the tour operator, the safety orcomfort of any passenger is in question, guests may be deniedparticipation. This evaluation may not be able to be determineduntil meeting directly with the local tour operator. Guests whoneed any special accommodation (wheelchair use, etc.) shouldcheck in with the Shore Excursion Manager once onboard tocommunicate their needs so advance arrangements may bemade with the tour operator.

CONDITIONS. In selling tickets (including
coupons or vouchers) or otherwise promoting
or making arrangements for Shore Excursions
— whether for air, land or local water
transportation; tours; sports or any other
recreational activities; shore accommodations
or meals or for any service, facility or activity
other than onboard our cruise ships —
Princess acts only as agent for the independent
tour operator supplying such excursions or
services. Participation by a passenger in Shore
Excursions is conditioned upon such
passenger’s acceptance of the terms and
conditions set forth in the Passage Contract
contained in the Cruise Ticket, the Shore
Excursion Ticket, and, depending on the
activity, other documents which, among other
things, expressly release Princess from any
liability for such participation. Participation
may also be subject to the independent tour
operators’ own terms and conditions.
EXCURSION TIMINGS. Departure times for
each tour will be listed on the Tour Order
Form, which you will receive onboard. These
have been published according to information
from our agents, but are subject to change
should the vessel’s arrival time at any port
be delayed, or the itinerary for any particular
excursion be amended. Prior to arrival at each
port of call, the departure times of each
excursion will be confirmed in the Princess
Patter. Please note that the time shown will be
the time the last tour vehicle leaves the pier.
Passengers are requested to report to the
specified departure location (either onboard
ship or pier-side) at the designated time, as
delay on your part can interfere with the
pleasure of your fellow passengers.
EXCURSIONS WITH LIMITED
PARTICIPATION. Shore Excursions may be
purchased in advance of your cruise depar-
ture or onboard ship on a first-come, first-
served basis. Many of our excursions have
limited participation and reservation forms
will be processed in the order received.
When excursions are fully subscribed, addi-
tional requests will be placed on a waiting
list in the order received.
PERSONAL POSSESSIONS. Coats, wraps,
umbrellas, cameras, handbags, traveling
bags and similar personal articles remain
at all times through the tour under the
passenger’s custody and control. Be careful
that you do not leave your possessions
unattended at any time in the car or coach
in which you are traveling.
PRICES. The prices for the Shore Excursions
are in U.S. dollars and subject to adjustment
without notice. All quotations made include
conveyance according to the itinerary and,
where applicable, meals, refreshments, guides,
and entrance fees, unless otherwise stated.
Children, other than infants in arms, will be
charged full fare unless noted otherwise.
SHOPPING. Where possible, time for
shopping has been allowed within the
framework of some excursions. However,
excursions are not primarily designed for
shopping, and time allowed for this purpose
may be limited.
REFUNDS. No refunds can be made on any
ticket, coupon or voucher unless notice of
cancellation is given before the closing date
indicated on the booking form for the
excursions involved. The times when bookings
will close will be published onboard. In the
event of any excursion being canceled for
reasons beyond our control, a full refund
will be made. However, should any
excursion have to be abandoned through
force majeure or difficulties en route, the
best possible refund will be arranged
according to the circumstances.
TRANSPORTATION. Passengers should
appreciate that standards of transport vary
considerably throughout the world.
Air-conditioned coaches are not available in
many areas, and in some, local buses are the
best available. Cars or taxis are also used at
some ports where coach or bus transportation
is not available or limited. Where excursions
are operated by car, four to eight passengers
are allocated to each car. Passengers wishing
to travel with friends should all leave the
ship together, as this will help the Tour Staff
to allocate them space in the same vehicle.
For the comfort of all passengers, smoking is
prohibited aboard the sightseeing vehicles.
VEHICLE HIRE AND DRIVING OVERSEAS.
Before hiring cars, motorbikes or mopeds
at any of the ports of call, we ask you to
carefully consider your own driving experience
and skills in the context of the traffic
conditions and driving standards that you
are likely to encounter. In addition to
making sure that you are correctly licensed
and insured to drive a vehicle, you should
also satisfy yourself regarding the condition
of the vehicle to be hired and standards to
which it has been maintained.
WITHDRAWAL OF TOURS. The Tour
Operator reserves the right to withdraw
any excursion through lack of demand and
to make any alterations that they may
deem advisable for the comfort of the
passengers, bearing in mind the convenience
and best interest of each group.
ECOLOGY & ENVIRONMENT. It is our
policy to maintain a positive and proactive
position in relation to the environment.
We realize that there is much work to be
done to achieve our company goals. To
this end we are continually striving to
increase awareness of any environmental
issues that are likely to affect any of the
excursions we offer. We work closely with our
local agents to convey any environmental
messages in our shore excursion programs
and therefore ask you to support us in our
efforts by respecting the cultures, customs
and environmental issues of the various
destinations we visit.
