CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK FOR DESIGNING STRUCTURE

• Organisational design is the process through which

meaningful hierarchical structures, decision centres or

authority, information networks, process for coordination,

and control, and governance systems are created to

subdivide and group the essential tasks carrying the

organization’s strategies.

• The main function of the organisational structure is to facilitate

achievement of organisational objectives.

• Structure is a means to an end rather than an end itself.

• Structure is derived from the organisation’s strategy

• The nature and form of an organisation structure is determined by the

organisation’s design philosophy.
