Creative wall design in changing times
Our creative products not only ena-
ble imitating historic wall surface
designs or natural materials, such
as marble, granite or sandstone.
They also allow very individual,
unique motifs, including in particu-
lar the implementation of current
fashion trends, such as metallic
wall designs. With products like
Creativ Lucento 83 and Creativ Me-
tallico 76, you can create metallic
effects perfectly.
Mineral wall designs also enjoy
great popularity these days. As an
additional advantage, techniques
based on natural materials provide
for good indoor climate control.

sed concrete imitations to rustic
wall designs. Creativ Sentimento
78 is a powerful, trend-oriented
product with an almost unlimited
range of applications.
Creative wall surface design has a
long tradition. In the past, only the
wealthy could afford this luxury
due to the high requirements and
costs involved. Nowadays, however,
creative wall design is available to
a wide range of customers. Brillux
offers a wide spectrum of modern,
innovative creative products which
enable efficient application and
realization of surface designs which
come very close to the old originals.

Mineral wall designs
Wall designs with nature-based
products such as chalk and marble
powder are very popular due to
their numerous positive features:
They are free from preservatives
and have a positive impact on the
room climate thanks to the use of
selected natural raw materials. The
high alkalinity of chalk-based pro-
ducts provides no breeding ground
for mold spores.
With Creativ Algantico 70 combined
with the Venetian filling technique,
you can create changing color sur-
faces with a fine marble character.
Originally this sophisticated way of
surface design was developed in
Italy to imitate polished, fine-crystal
marble. The changing effect which
is a typical feature of marble is ob-
tained by multi-layer filling using
Creativ Algantico 70 and final com-
pacting of the surfaces.
The Stucco version with Creativ
Algantico 70 is ideal for designing
connected harmonious, well-
balanced walls and ceilings. This
technique comprises three filling
layers and forms the basis for other
Venetian filling techniques, e.g. the
Stucco version.

The Sasso version is additionally
divided into stone formats. The in-
dividual stone blocks are processed
in their direction patterns, which
allow modeling of the characteristic
features of marble in an efficient
way.

modern straight architecture.

rough-textured substrates. A first
work step using Creativ Sentimento
78 with a trowel or brush texture
is recommended. The roughness of
the texture obtained in this way is
now filled completely with Creativ
Algantico 70. After final compacting
the surfaces will exhibit their fine-
rustic appearance with a changing
surface gloss. The Rustika version
is ideal for visually accentuating
individual surface sections.

Creativ Sentimento 78 is a chalk-
based fine plaster containing mar-
ble powder for natural, creative wall
designs. The surface texture can be
fine or coarse, relief or antique as
well as a trendy exposed concrete
appearance. The surfaces are highly

diffusible and do not provide a
breeding ground for mold thanks to
their natural alkalinity. Thus Creativ
Sentimento 78 makes a valuable
contribution to healthy living.

When designed with a coarse tex-
ture, Creativ Sentimento 78 exhibits
its fine-rustic side with a slightly
cloudy surface. In this technique,
the second material layer is felted
completely using a cellular rubber
float. A fine-grained, slightly smooth
matt surface is obtained, which
emphasizes the natural character of
the product.

Mineral wall designs
You can design patterned surfaces
with Creativ Sentimento 78, with
the relief texture in any direction
you like. Depending on the object
situation or as required by the cu-
stomer, you can achieve a horizon-
tal, vertical or wave-like orientation.
In order to emphasize the gloss of
the raised areas and to accentuate
the siliceous natural mica contained
in the product, the relief texture can
also be superficially compacted.
The compacting step increases the
depth effect.
Relief texture
For exclusive surfaces with a rustic
flair, we recommend an antique tex-
ture. With this technique, even large
surfaces can be created efficiently
and the surface will have a more
dominant appearance than a fine-
textured surface, due to the coarse
surface texture. Creativ Sentimento
78 is roughened in the second deco
step using a Venetian smoothing
trowel and then smoothed superfi-
cially after a short settling time.

In interior room design the purist
character of concrete surfaces is
becoming more and more popular.
Wall surfaces with an exposed con-
crete appearance convey a flair of
robustness, thus creating a unique
loft character. Compared to genuine
concrete, the application technique
with Creativ Sentimento 78 has the
advantage that individual inscrip-
tions or logos can be implemented
using high-low techniques.
The closeness to original exposed
concrete is additionally emphasized
by the execution of joints.
The Creativ Sentimento 78 color
chart provides a wide range of
concrete colors as well as a neutral
gray series for this style of wall
design.

Glazing techniques
The dispersion glaze Creativ Viviato
72 is particularly user-friendly,
thanks to its long open time, and
is therefore suitable for consistent
large-surface design of representa-
tive rooms. With a total of 72 colors,
the Creativ Glazing Techniques
color chart offers a wide range of
individual design possibilities on
white and colored substrates.
Creativ Viviato 72 in various
application techniques
As semi-transparent coatings,
glazes have a much lower impact on
the appearance of the existing
substrate than covering coatings.
The original character is maintained,
at least partly. The color effect,
however, is freshened. In addition to
application on white substrates,
beautiful glazing effects can also be
obtained on colored substrates. The
intensity of the glazing effect is
influenced by the color contrast
between the basecoat and the
glaze.
Creativ Viviato 72/glazing technique on brush-on plaster
The most common application of
Creativ Viviato 72 is in combination
with brush-on plasters. Semi-
transparent glazes are particularly
effective with individually textured
substrates. Deeper surface areas
appear darker with a more intensive
color. Raised areas are lighter.

The Farfalla technique is de-
rived from the filling technique:
Significantly greater, overlapping
filling strokes on smooth substrates
create an enormous depth effect.
Farfalla technique
This slightly plastic surface owes its
unique appearance to a crease-like
texture. A main color normally forms
the basis, but you can also use
accent colors. The special texture

Stone imitation techniques
Imitating precious natural stone
has formed an integral part of the
art of room painting since ancient
times. Today this artistic style is
frequently used in combination with
modern furniture and materials like
glass and stainless steel. Following
historic examples, but applied in an
efficient way, modern stone imitati-
on techniques achieve the required
character.
Sandstone technique
Sandstone is a sedimentary rock
which owes its specific color to
the embedded minerals. The color
spectrum ranges from light beige/
yellow to brownish, grayish and
reddish colorations. With Creativ
Granulato 71 and matching glaze
and covering colors, this type of
stone can be imitated perfectly.

Effect techniques
Effect techniques show what you
can achieve with dispersion
materials and offer inspiration for
your own design ideas. Whether
smooth or textured they are ideal on
specific surface areas and make
attractive accents in otherwise
rather plain room designs. Effect
techniques imitate known
appearances or create their very
own effects.
This modern filling technique is
applied on smooth substrates using
Latex Plastic Matt ELF 904. Using
a plastic or metal filler knife you
can produce the typical, relief-like
surface.

smooth marble technique. Disper-

The classic wrapping technique
with dispersion paints was origi-
nally developed as an alternative
to wallpapering. Today it is exactly
the other way around: The wrapping
technique is the higher-quality
alternative to industrially produced

wall coverings. By using different
textiles such as jute, linen or
synthetic materials, individual, lively
surfaces are produced. A piece of
cloth is wetted with dispersion paint
and then - folded up to form a ball
- rolled over the surface. By using
coating materials with different
gloss grades you can create the
so-called damask effect.
