New Delhi: On the occasionof the 2nd International Day ofYoga celebrations at Chandigarhon 21st June, 2016, the Hon’blePrime Minister had announcedthe institution of awards for thepromotion and development ofYoga. The Ministry of AYUSHdeveloped the guidelines for theawards. Two committees wereconstituted, viz., ScreeningCommittee (for preliminaryevaluation) and EvaluationCommittee (Jury), so that atransparent process is followedin finalizing the awards.Nominations for the awards wereinvited through openadvertisement.

The Screening Committeechaired by Secretary (AYUSH)drew up a shortlist from the 79applications as well as theCommittee’s own inputs. TheJury chaired by the CabinetSecretary, with the AdditionalPrincipal Secretary to PrimeMinister, Secretary (East, MEA),Secretary (AYUSH), Dr. HansaYogendra, and Dr. JayantYeshwant Deopujari asmembers, examined therecommendations of theScreening Committee, and alsomade its own analysis of thecontributions made by theinstitutions and individualsshortlisted. The selection wasdone after considering 79nominations received underdifferent categories.

The second majorreason for coming here was thatthe relationship between Ranchiand healthcare has been recordedin the pages of history. On 23September last year, on theoccasion of the birth anniversaryof Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, welaunched the Ayushman BharatScheme from Ranchi. Today, theworld's largest healthcare scheme,the Pradhan Mantri Jan-ArogyaYojana has become the greatestdeal for the poor in a very shorttime.

Prime Minister’s Awards for Outstanding Contributionfor Promotion and Development of Yoga -2019

New Delhi: On the occasionof the 2nd International Day ofYoga celebrations at Chandigarhon 21st June, 2016, the Hon’blePrime Minister had announcedthe institution of awards for thepromotion and development ofYoga. The Ministry of AYUSHdeveloped the guidelines for theawards. Two committees wereconstituted, viz., ScreeningCommittee (for preliminaryevaluation) and EvaluationCommittee (Jury), so that atransparent process is followedin finalizing the awards.Nominations for the awards wereinvited through openadvertisement.

The Screening Committeechaired by Secretary (AYUSH)drew up a shortlist from the 79applications as well as theCommittee’s own inputs. TheJury chaired by the CabinetSecretary, with the AdditionalPrincipal Secretary to PrimeMinister, Secretary (East, MEA),Secretary (AYUSH), Dr. HansaYogendra, and Dr. JayantYeshwant Deopujari asmembers, examined therecommendations of theScreening Committee, and alsomade its own analysis of thecontributions made by theinstitutions and individualsshortlisted. The selection wasdone after considering 79nominations received underdifferent categories.
