Lion Brand® large-eyed blunt needle ADDITIONAL MATERIALS Circular knitting needle size 7 (4.5 mm), 36 in. (91.5 cm) long GAUGE 20 sts + 26 rows = about 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. STITCH EXPLANATIONS ssk (slip, slip, knit) Slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time, to right hand needle; insert left hand needle into fronts of these 2 sts and knit them together – 1 st decreased. yo (yarn over) An increase that also creates a small decorative hole (eyelet) in the fabric, worked as follows: 1. Bring yarn to front, between the needles. 2. Take yarn to back, over the right needle. This creates the new st. You are now ready to proceed with the next st as instructed. NOTES

1. Afghan is worked in one piece beginning at lower edge. 2. A circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches.

Work back and forth in rows on the circular needle as if working on straight needles.

3. The Unicorn design is worked from a chart. When working from chart, read RS rows from right to left and WS rows from left to right.

4. The borders are worked from stitches picked up along edges Afghan. AFGHAN Cast on 120 sts. Begin Chart Beg with Row 1, work Rows 1-190 of chart. Bind off.






FINISHING Horn Cast on 6 sts. Row 1 (RS): Knit. Rows 2-4: Continue in St st (k on RS, p on WS). Row 5: Slip 3 sts to cable needle and hold in front, k3, then k3 from cable needle. Row 6: Purl. Rows 7-18: Rep Rows 1-6 . Row 19 (Decrease Row): K2tog, k2, k2tog – 4 sts. Rows 20-22: Work in St st. Row 23: Slip 2 sts to cable needle and hold in front, k2, then k2 from cable needle. Rows 24-27: Rep Rows 20-23. Row 28: Purl. Row 29: Ssk, k2tog – 2 sts. Row 30: P2tog. Bind off. Sew horn to Afghan. Note: A border is worked along each side of Afghan. The shaped corners of the borders are sewn together. Side Borders From RS, pick up and k145 sts evenly spaced along one side edge of Afghan. Row 1 (WS): Purl. Row 2: K2, yo, k3, *p3, k3; rep from * to last 2 sts, yo, k2 – 147 sts. Row 3: P3, *p3, k3; rep from * to last 6 sts, p6. Row 4: K2, yo, k4, *p3, k3; rep from * to last 3 sts, k1, yo, k2 – 149 sts. Row 5: P4, *p3, k3; rep from * to last 7 sts, p7. Row 6: K2, yo, k5, *p3, k3; rep from * to last 4 sts, k2, yo, k2 – 151 sts. Row 7: P5, *p3, k3; rep from * to last 8 sts, p8. Rows 8: Knit. Row 9: Purl. Row 10-15: Rep Rows 2-7 – 157 sts in Row 15. Bind off. Rep along opposite side edge of Afghan. Top and Lower Borders From RS, pick up and k121 sts evenly spaced along top edge of Afghan. Work Rows 1-15 of side borders – 133 sts when all increases have been completed. Rep along lower edge of Afghan. Bind off.






Sew shaped corners of borders together. Weave in ends.
