• Lion Brand® pom-pom maker • Lion Brand® large-eyed blunt needle GAUGE 16 sts = about 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. STITCH EXPLANATION K1, p1 Rib (worked over an even number of sts) Row 1: *K1, p1; rep from * to end of row. Row 2: K the knit sts and p the purl sts. Rep Row 2 for K1, p1 Rib. NOTES 1. Hat is worked flat in one piece and then seamed. 2. Pom-pom is made separately and then tied to top of Hat. HAT With A, cast on 62 (70, 78) sts. Work in K1, p1 Rib for 9 rows. Change to B and work in K1, p1 Rib as established for one row. BODY OF HAT With B, and beginning with a RS (knit) row, work in St st (k on RS, p on WS) for 3 rows. Repeat last 8 rows until piece measures about 7 in. (cm) from beginning. Last Row: *Knit 2 sts together; rep from across. Cut yarn, leaving a long yarn tail. Thread tail into blunt needle, then draw needle through remaining sts. Pull to close top of Hat and knot. FINISHING Sew sides together to make Hat.
