FREE disability support worker trainingCHC33015 Certificate III Individual Support

The Disabil ity Trust in the l l lawarra region are seeking to prepare, train and trial potential individual support worker trainees across a person-centered, caring and inclusive environment. In collaboration with the Wesley Vocational Institute, a vocational and non-accredited training program is being offered to a group of eligible, suitable and genuinely interested young people aged between 19 and 24 years looking for a career opportunity at The Disabil ity Trust. This exciting l l lawarraYES program brings together Training Services NSW Smart and Skil led funding and Department of Jobs and Small Business Launch into Work funding to provide eligible youth job seekers in the l l lawarra region with a tailored and supported pathway into employment.

IllawarraYES program benefits:

• Complete 5 accredited units of competency in the areas of:

~ HLTAID003 Provide First Aid

~ CHCDIV001 Working with diverse people

~ CHCLEG001 Working legally and ethically

~ HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care

~ CHCDIS007 Facilitate empowerment of people with a disability.

• Complete workplace specific training and employability skills development (non-accredited):

~ Participate in life skills development in the areas of financial health, physical health, mental health, social interaction and workplace culture and communication.

~ Undertake client centred training in the areas of medication management, abuse and neglect, infection control, behavioural support and values in action (VIA).

• Complete supervised placements with an experienced supervisor and trained mentor:

~ Participants are to commit to the 12 week program including fulfilling all training attendance, assessment and placement requirements across various sites in the Illawarra region.

Are you eligible?• Aged Between 19—24

• Minimum P1 Provisional Drivers Licence

• Willing to undergo a Working with Children Check and Criminal Record Check.

• Caring and empathetic with a willingness to empower people with a disability.

• Eager to gain a part time traineeship completing a Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) on completion of the program.

• Job seekers on the jobactive, Transition to Work and ParentsNext.

• Travel to various locations in the lllawarra is expected for both the training program and upon employment.
