GAUGE:
16 hdc + 12 rows = about 4 in. (10 cm).
When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern andthe materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in thepattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from personto person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller sizehook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
Making a Gauge Swatch
NOTES:
1. Three strips are worked separately, then sewn together to make the Afghan.2. A border is worked around the outside edge of Afghan.3. To change yarn color, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and drawthrough all loops on hook to complete st. Proceed with new color. Cut old color, leaving a long tail to weave inlater.
