Dear Donors, Contributors, Supporters, and Volunteers: Frederica Academy had a record-breaking fundraising year because of your generosity and commitment during the 2016-2017 school year. This report details the results by category and recognizes every individual, family, friend, and foundation who made last year’s impressive results possible. What we cannot truly capture in this report is the passion and dedication of all of our wonderful volunteer chairs: Kristi Harrison, Advancement Committee Chair; Riley & Alfred Sams and Anne & Tim McGlaughlin for the Annual Fund; Leigh & Daniel Veal and Myra & John Wetzler for Derby Day; Joel Arline for Apogee; Trey Brunson for our Friends of Frederica program; Julie Beimler and the Parent Association Board; and David Yarborough and the Booster Club Board. We recognize them all with grateful hearts. We are also thankful for the countless others who helped support them in their efforts. Each gift impacts every student because our fundraising efforts close the budget gap for the entirety of the school’s annual operating budget since tuition only covers about 80% of our operating revenue. From field trips, to physics, to the Fifth Grade play, we are able to do more because our supporters provide that opportunity. Our students are the problem solvers of the future and a thriving Frederica Academy serves these students well in maximizing their potential for that future. Each donor and each gift makes a statement that you believe in what Frederica Academy is doing to inspire its students to pursue academic excellence, develop character and prepare for success in their future academic pursuits and life. 2017 APOGEE GEORGIA SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Frederica Academy has significantly increased its need-based student financial aid budget because of its partnership with the Apogee Georgia School Choice Scholarship Fund. Frederica Academy has raised $2.1 million in Apogee financial aid funds since the program started in 2009.

The Georgia Tuition Tax Credit Scholarship program allows Georgia taxpayers to receive an income tax credit for donations to registered Student Scholarship Organizations (SSOs). Once approved by the Georgia Department of Revenue, participating taxpayers make a donation to a registered SSO. When making the donation, the donor designates a participating independent school to receive the funds. Frederica Academy selected the Apogee Georgia School Choice Scholarship Fund to be its primary SSO partner.

A donor must be a Georgia taxpayer and must designate one of the following filing statuses:

We salute St. Simons Bank & Trust for its ongoing support and steadfast devotion to helping fund Frederica Academy’s need-based financial aid program. As a C-Corporation, St. Simons Bank & Trust is eligible to participate in the program by making a donation to the scholarship fund and, at the same time, reducing its Georgia tax liability in the amount of the donation. We would also like to thank Ouida & Hunter Maclean for its ongoing support as a C-Corporation donor.

In August of 2016, Frederica Academy opened the Nash Academic Center. From the first day of school, the space became the epicenter for collaborative and individualized learning for upper schoolers on campus. Students enthusiastically used the area during all hours of the school day. The Nash Center affirms Frederica Academy’s commitment to serving the learners of this generation.

Special thanks to the Stuart and Eulene Murray Foundation for providing the lead gift for the Encompass Capital Campaign which launched the Academic Center initiatives, Jessie Been ’11 for donating her interior design services for the project, and Hank Rowland for serving as construction project manager. We, of course, also express our appreciation to all of the other Encompass donors who supported the other components of the campaign…and to the A New Standard of Excellence Capital Campaign donors who funded the original Corn Hall construction project more than a decade ago.
