PresentacinEl Ave Mara de Franz Schubert es, sin duda, una de las canciones religiosas ms odas. Pero hay otras piezas musicales de Schubert que no se conocen tanto. Entre las religiosas --adems de las misas (Mass No.1-Mass No.6) y los cuatro Kyries, los ofertorios y graduales, etc ) --, hay que destacar las Salve Regina (varias), el Stabat Mater en G menor (D 175) y el Magnificat (D 486). Aqu vamos a recordar su Letana: Franz Schubert: "Letanei" D 343, 1816 E flat Major (MI bemol Mayor) ...con una modulacin en Do menor. La partitura, para voz y con acompaamiento de piano, ha sido escrita sobre el texto de un poema de Johann Georg Jacobi. Los orgenes de las letanas se remontan a los primeros siglos de la cristiandad. Las letanas eran splicas dialogadas entre los sacerdotes y los fieles, y se rezaban sobre todo en las procesiones. Aunque al principio eran dirigidas slo a Dios (en splicas) se aadieron con el tiempo invocaciones a santos y sobre todo a la Virgen Mara (en intercesiones) usadas a partir del siglo VII. En la liturgia oriental se usaron desde el siglo III. La composicin de letanas marianas sigui la lnea de las generales y de las de los Santos. En stas se invocaba a Mara de tres modos: Sancta Mara, Sancta Dei Genetrix y Sancta Virgo Virginum. A lo cual sigui una serie de reflexiones y elogios de los santos padres orientales que constituyen el germen de las futuras letanas marianas. El germen hall ambiente en la popularidad del Oficio de la Virgen Santsima que se cantaba en algunos monasterios. Este "Oficio" no era fijo y tena variaciones segn la orden religiosa que lo cantaba; stas variaciones fueron abolidas por Po V cuando estableci el "Oficio Parvo de la Virgen" reformado. Lo cierto es que entre las variantes que existan haban ciertas letanas que se parecan a las futuras Lauretanas. Las ms antiguas letanas a Mara propiamente dichas se encuentran en un cdice de Maguncia del siglo XII titulado Letania de Domina Nostra Dei genenetrice Virgine Maria. Ora valde bona, cotidie pro quacumque tribulatione dicenda est, con alabanzas largas y en cada verso repitiendo el Sancta Mara. En el siglo XV y XVI las letanas marianas empezaron a multiplicarse. Por el ao 1500 fueron creadas una serie de letanas en el santuario de Loreto hechas para el lugar. Hacia 1575 surgen unas nuevas letanas lauretanas conocidas como "modernas" con alabanzas puramente bblicas, que se hicieron tan populares que las primeras versiones fueron pasadas a segundo plano. Sixto V las aprob en 1587 e incluso les dio indulgencias. Hacia el siglo XVII la situacin se hizo exagerada, en Loreto se tena una letana para cada da de la semana y no era el nico caso. En 1601, con el decreto Quoniuam multi del 6 de septiembre, el Papa Clemente VIII prohibi todas las letanas que existan con excepcin de las incluidas en el Misal y el Breviario y tambin las del santuario de Loreto, aquellas letanas ya eran llamadas como lauretanas. Paulo V, en 1503, orden que se cantasen en la baslica romana de Santa Mara La Mayor en festividades de la Virgen Mara.
