The CIA collects and evaluates information on foreign affairs and national threats. This intelligence is relayed to the president, Congress and other federal agencies so they can make informed decisions. His wife Rosario was also arrested. Suspicions were aroused because his lavish lifestyle did not match his income. It’s im- portant to check with your parents and get permission before watch- ing a show. Working The CIA employs many experts, not just spies. They hire ana- lysts, doctors, lawyers, scientists, engineers, geographers, linguists, mathematicians, computer spe- cialists, administrators, librarians and others. Selection for agency employment is highly competitive, and employ- ees must successfully complete a polygraph test, a medical exami- nation and a background investi- gation before being hired. If you are interested in a career with the CIA, you should work hard, keep your grades high and perhaps study a second or third language. Recruits are trained at a military reserve in Virgina known as the CIA farm. The farm teaches future agents the skills they will need in the international field. Kryptos is a sculpture by Ameri- can artist Jim Sanborn. Located on the grounds of CIA head- quarters, this encrypted artwork has four messages. Three of the encryptions have been solved, but the fourth remains one of the most famous unsolved codes in the world.
