This season will be Lew Buckley’s tenth season with MetWinds, and we will celebrate with one of the most exciting seasons we have ever presented. Our Fall Concert, “Frank and Igor,” will feature the music of just two composers, Frank Ticheli and Igor Stravinsky. Ticheli gets the entire first half, concluding with the world premiere of his eagerly-awaited Acadiana, commissioned jointly by MetWinds, UMass Lowell New England Youth Wind Ensemble, and MIT Concert Band. Then, following the intermission, we will take on perhaps the biggest, most difficult piece we have ever played, Merlin Patterson’s superb wind transcription of Igor Stravinsky’s famed Rite of Spring. This will be musical grandeur personified and will represent a rare opportunity. Don’t miss this one!
