EFFECTS   Loss of life Environmental destruction Floods

Typhoon

Page 3: Francisco javier garcia uscategui

EFFECTS Drag solids Extensive water covered area Intense erosion Proliferation of organisms Damaged homes Interruption roads Loss of life Crop losses Sediment deposits Diseases Food shortages Water pollution

Flood

EFFECTS

Loss of biodiversity of forests and woodlands

It alters the cycle of nutrients in the soil and the atmosphere

Disappearing various species of plants and animals

Many species are shown to be in danger of extinction

Increase in the concentration of greenhouse gases that lead to global warming

Deforestation

EFFECTS   Temperature increase Increased rainfall Loss of glaciers Flood Increases in flow streams Decrease in agricultural

production

Global Warming

EFFECTS Surge Strong Winds Intense rainfall Landslides and floods Deglaciation Rise in sea level

Hurricanes

EFFECTS Lack of potable water Decreased flow of rivers and streams Depletion of groundwater Overcrowded cities. Death of different species Loss of soil Diminution in agricultural production (crop loss) Price increase in food Economic Crisis Increased fire frequency Increased temperature and aridity

Drought

Identify areas of flooding, and evaluate the experience in previous flood chaos.

Analyze the threat and risk through geological or socio-

geographic ..  Develop hazard maps at the community level.  Limiting excessive paving and leveling of the land, in order to

reduce runoff in wet weather.  Development of conservation programs including environmental

sound management of solid waste and create awareness in communities to keep clean rivers, streams, ditches and drains.

2. Possible solutions to flood

Page 12: Francisco javier garcia uscategui

The conservation program development environment including proper management of solid waste and also creating awareness in communities to keep clean rivers, streams, ditches and drains, as the cause of having clean rivers, streams and different bodies aquifers will have a normal water flow, thus avoiding the possibility of flooding in heavy winter seasons, so it's important to make people aware to make the proper management of solid waste, because otherwise the different bodies streams of water will be contaminated and clogged with garbage and solid waste generated generating floods and various problems in society.

Geothermal technology is a source that would avoid energy dependence on fossil fuels and other nonrenewable resources. Furthermore, this technology does not require dam construction, logging, and construction of pipelines or tanks for storage. On the other hand the waste it produces are minimal and cause less environmental impact caused by the oil and coal, also reduces the emission of CO2 and other greenhouse gases. Finally it should be noted that geothermal resources are greater than the resources of coal, oil, natural gas, this leads us to think that is an almost unlimited resource.
