CONC 002 OULALA FESTIVAL 24/06 – 15/07 FEST/ENVI 18+ 10 VOLS SPECIAL WORKCAMP ‐ Tri national France‐Germany‐Italy Conditions: Travel expenses will be refunded up to 161 euro. Project: Oulala L’Asso establishes this year the fourth edition of the Oulala Festival between 8th and 10th of July. The aim of the organisation is to propose an equal access to culture for all. A Concordia workcamp was organized during the editions of 2005, 2006 and 2008. Happy with the intercultural aspect brought by the volunteers, the organizers wanted to repeat the project. In addition to concerts, different animations are planned as well as meetings with the artists. The purpose is also to raise awareness about sustainable development. Several animations will take place during the festival and the workcamp. Work: During the workcamp you will be integrated into a group of 200 volunteers in order to participate at the logistics and all the practical tasks concerning the festival: before (building the stage and stands, decoration), during (welcoming people, cleaning, distribution of refreshing stuff and tickets) and after (cleaning up the area). Furthermore several activities linked to the sustainable development will be proposed. Accommodation: In a common shelter, at Luriecq (10 km from Saint Marcellin en Forez). Language: English and French. Location: Saint Marcellin en Forez is a medieval town located by the Monts du Forez and Massif Central, at 25km from the North‐East of Saint‐Etienne. Terminal: Bonson train station. Special requirements: Bring working gloves, good shoes, warm clothes, good sleeping bag, and a backpack. Bring your instrument if you are a musician. Working during the night can be possible during the festival. A minibus will be sometimes available to facilitate the moving and to discover the region.
CBF02 Cormery 10/07/2011 to 30/07/2011 RENO/ENVI 12 vols SPECIAL WORKCAMP ‐ Tri national France‐Germany‐Italy Conditions: 100% travel reimbursement. Creation of a natural and relaxing place in the village Project : after 2 successful workcamps in 2009 and 2010, the municipality wishes to host a workcamp again this summer. This time the volunteers will create a place downtown building wood benches and little stone walls. The place will be next to the Indre river. The materiel that you will use to work will be ecological materiel in order to create a natural public place. Work : traditional masonry and joinery (woodwork). Location: Cormery is situated in Indre‐et‐Loire, 250 km south from Paris and 15 km from Tours. The workcamp is next to a river and is 500 meters from the accommodation (municipal campsite). CONC 008 AIGUEBELLE 1 08/07 – 22/07 ENVI 18+ 15 VOLS PROJECT: This is the second year we have a partnership with the village of la Charbonnière. The « Charbonnière » rock is a place located in the county of Aiguebelle, in the region of the wonderful high mountains. You can find here the historic medieval site with the Charbonnière castle, an old fortress from the XIth century. Nowadays we can discover the past prints through the ruins and the relics. Not very well‐known by the inhabitants, this site is still hiding a lot of mysteries that we suggest you to discover. Partner on this international youth exchange project, Animation of Canton d’Aiguebelle Association (AACA) will take advantage of this opportunity to meet the international volunteers during the work camp. Accompanied by local youth, the AACA supervisors will coordinate the exchanges and work on the thematic of the youth international mobility. Beautiful international friendships are waiting for you! WORK: For the moment the site is covered by the vegetation. So you will revamp the site to make it accessible for the public. You will also take care of the renovation the paths. A skidding activity will be offered time to time during which the donkeys will help you to take the shrub and the brushwood down during your working time. A technical supervisor and a mountain guide will supervise you along your work and he will share with you his knowledge of nature during your work camp. This work camp is for hiking and nature lovers!!! ACCOMODATION: 10 minutes away from your working place, under tents. CONC 011 SAINT‐MURY‐MONTEYMOND 15/07 ‐ 29/07 RENO/ENVI 18+ 15 VOLS PROJECT: The village of Saint‐Mury‐Monteymond (350 inhabitants) would like to emphasize some of its built heritage and its environment. Collaborating the first time with Concordia, this workcamp will offer the opportunity to the volunteers being involved in a project that will provide two distinct types of work. Volunteers will have the chance to discover the Belledonne and live many exchanges with the local population. WORK: The workcamp offers two technical interventions. The first is the renovation of a forest house once used by forest rangers and wood cutters. You will rebuild the wood cladding, repair the wooden floor on the first floor and construct some parts of the interior of the house (masonry work). The second intervention is in the middle of the forest nearby. The work will consist on cleaning and rehabilitating hiking paths. ACCOMODATION: In a common shelter, 4km from the village. You will have to walk every day because the place where you will stay will be between the village and the work area. The living place is out of the village. Hikers and nature lovers, this workcamp is made for you! CONC 036 CDC ARTOLIE 15/07‐29/07 ENVI 18+ 12 VOLS PROJECT: The council of Artolie was created in 2000 and is now composed of 9 villages which are all dynamic and involved in the local and sustainable development. The island of Raymond sur Garonne, place full of biodiversity where you will work, is one of them. This island which was recently bought by the district is few metres away from the bank, linked to it by a bridge. The district has on the island a tourist, environmental and agricultural project. In order to realise it, the workcamps will be welcome this summer to clean the excess vegetation surrounding an old farm. A sheep breeder is already settled and once the farm is clean, they will be able to create an information centre about environment and organise hiking for the public to discover the local fauna and flora. WORK: Led by a technical leader, you will take part in the cleaning of the excess of vegetation surrounding an old farm. ACCOMODATION: You will live next to the technical building of the district (you will sleep and cook under tents on a ground cloth and use dry toilets). The conditions of life will be summary and the temperature can go down during the night, so think to bring warm sleeping bed. LANGUAGE: French and English. LOCALISATION: 25 km from Bordeaux in a rural environment with a wonderful quality of life in the area called “Pays coeur entre deux mers”. TERMINAL: Podensac train station. SPECIAL REMARKS: The Island Raymond sur Garonne is close to an isolated village with very few transport options. For nature lovers and those who like walking! CONC 044 SADIRAC 05/08‐26/08 RENO/ENVI 18 + 15 VOLS PROJECT: For the eighth year the village of Sadirac wants to host a workcamp thanks to the enormous contribution of the previous in terms of relations between the local population and the international volunteers. This town is a good place to meet new people, to have a walk in the countryside and to discover the art of pottery (tradition in this village since the 18th century, some traces of pottery activity from the Gallo‐Roman antiquity have been found too). This year, the work will be on a pottery oven. WORK: Managed by a technical leader, you will take part in the restoration of different washing places in the village: work of traditional masonry and small environmental work.
ACCOMMODATION: In a building (very basic collective living conditions). LANGUAGE: French and English. LOCATION: Sadirac is a small commune of the area “l’Entre Deux Mers” (the main town of the canton is Créon), located 25 km south‐east of Bordeaux. TERMINAL: The train station in Bordeaux Saint Jean. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Bring a sleeping bag, working clothes, sport shoes, warm clothes and solid waterproof boots as you will sometimes work with your feet in the water. SPECIAL REMARKS: The village is crossed by a cycle track which goes from Sauveterre de Guyenne to Bordeaux. If you can, bring along your bicycle so you can discover this track which surrounds the entire area. No public transportation: for those who like nature and walking. CONC 217 OUPIA 2 01/08 – 22/08 ENVI 18+ 14 VOLS PROJECT: This is a new big project (Terre de Vie – Terre de Vignes) in partnership with three little towns organized specifically by the little village call Oupia. The purpose is to create a path that will be used by tourists and walkers from the area. This path will be in the middle of many vineyards, woods and Mediterranean scrubland. WORK: Clear the vegetation, create some stairs with wood and make some building renovation in dry stone. LANGUAGE: English LOCATION: You will live in the little village call Olonzac, 3 kilometers from where you will work and will have many opportunities to discover this part of south of France call Le Minervois. ACCOMMODATION: Under tents in the stadium (if you have one, you may bring it.) TERMINAL: Lézignan Corbières train station CONC 001 CUBLIZE ‐ LAC DES SAPINS 08/06 ‐ 29/06 ENVI/SPORT 18+ 15 VOLS PROJECT: It is the local mission of Tarare, which is working on the social and professional integration of young people of the territory of Amplepuis‐Thizy that made the first partnership with Concordia in 2008. They are in cooperation with the local actors who work on youth topics and whose goal is to enable local young people, often away from international mobility opportunities, to participate in international exchanges offered by Concordia’s workcamps. In 2008, 2009 and 2010, several young people were integrated successfully in the group of international volunteers. This is why we hope that this year local young people interested to open to the world will live this rewarding human experience. Many actors of the youth policy of the country are mobilized to make sure that the exchanges between young people from nearby villages and the international volunteers will be a success. If you like human and social relationships and you get on well with people, this workcamp is for you. It will be a 4th edition full of meetings, fun and learning. WORK: You will help in the logistics of the 15th edition ot a triathlon organized by the Lac des Sapins Tourism Office. They receive every year around 1000 competitors coming from all over the France. Before the triathlon, you will build up the stands, clear the path and prepare logistical and practical issues. During the triathlon you will make some animation works and you will keep the food stand. After the triathlon you will remove the stand and clean up the path. You will work on
the project from to beginning to the end. The triathlon will be the 18 and 19 of june. You will also do some environmental works to make attractive the area of the Lac des Sapins. LOCATION: The lake called “Lac des sapins” is located in the middle of a leisure base, in a wonderful wooded place at 440 meters of altitude and 65km away from Lyon in the North West. A lot of leisure activities will be proposed during all your stay. CONC 061 CHANTELLE 1 14/06 – 4/07 RENO 18+ 17 VOLS PROJECT: The General Council of Allier, manager of the natural areas of the “Gorges de la Bouble”, undertook to protect and enhance the ecological and cultural heritage of these Gorges (river canyons) surrounded by forest. In this context, the renovations of the small built heritage were begun. They are part of an overall plan for the reopening and maintenance of land which have been gradually abandoned and invaded by vegetation. The site, which stretches for 4 km, kept a true wilderness. In addition, exchanges with associations and local people are on the agenda: meetings, visits and events will be on the schedule of your workcamp! WORK: near an abbey classified as an historical monument, you will renovate a shed (roof and walls) and part of the boundary wall that reflects the ancient agricultural practices (grazing, vineyards ...). You will use traditional masonry techniques: work with lime mortar, use of old techniques and materials (stone, lime, wood, traditional tiles ...) LOCATION: Chantelle (1060 inhabitants) is located in the heart of the Bourbonnais in Allier county, 70 km north from Clermont‐Ferrand and 15 km north from Gannat. The heritage of the region offers a rich historical and cultural diversity: many castles, Romanesque churches, natural sites are present on the territory. ACCOMMODATION: two places tents, (bring your sleeping bag) and collective tent for the group life. TERMINAL: Gannat train station. Airport: Paris. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: SCAFFOLDING CERTIFICATE. CONC 222 FRONTIGNAN 08/06 – 29/06 FEST + 18 20 VOLS PROJECT: The Youth Service of Frontignan calls the volunteers of Concordia for the eighth time. The project will be done in link with a team of 10 young people from Frontignan who will be very good guides in the discovery of the region and in the leisure time. The purpose is to help to organize a festival called FIRN which is an international festival about crime novel and thrillers.
WORK: You will help to organise the festival. It means that you will support the festival staff and the artists, organising the welcoming of the public and helping on the logistic. LANGUAGE: English LOCATION: Frontignan is 20 Km south‐west of Montpellier. There, one can visit the vineyards and the hilly hinterlands. You will live in a place welcoming groups near the sea under tents called Les Aresquiers. ACCOMMODATION: Under tents (if you have one, you may bring it.) TERMINAL: Frontignan train station CONC 014 29/08 ‐ 19/09 GRAND PARC MIRIBEL‐JONAGE ENVI/FEST 18+ 12 VOLS PROJECT: For some years, the suburban Park of Miribel‐Jonage leads an animation and preservation program in order to enhance the value of its natural environment. At the same time, the park develops a project in the field of cultural politics, in order to organize some events for the urban community of Lyon. Concordia is in contact with the Park of Miribel‐Jonage for 5 years. During 4 years, each summer, volunteers worked on environmental projects (construction of a wall on rammed earth, creation of a pedagogic pond…). This year, you will also get involved in an environmental work. Volunteers will also have the chance to participate in the organization of the “Woodstower” Festival. If you like contacts with people and nature, this camp is for you!!! WORK: The first week, volunteers will participate in the logistic of the Woodstower festival. You will get involved with the team of volunteers in the event. Then you will work in natural areas of the park. The exact missions are still being defined but could include the conservation of protected species, the fight against invasive plants in some areas, maintenance and development of the shoreline flora. ACCOMODATION: Under tents. You’ll have a farm just beside with showers and toilets. Kitchen under a big tent. LANGUAGE: English and French. LOCATION: The Park of Miribel‐Jonage is situated in the Northeast of Lyon agglomeration. Come on to discover, with the Park’s employees, the fauna and flora in the wetlands of the park and of course, the exceptional gastronomy and historic heritage of Lyon and its surroundings. CONC 015 PNR VERCORS – PONET‐ET‐SAINT‐AUBAN 02/09 ‐ 16/09

12 VOLS PROJECT: The Vercors Natural Park is one of the first Natural Parks created in the Alps. There are 2500 km of hiking paths in this wonderful area. They are exposed to some important degradation caused by erosion, climate changes and hikers. Five workcamps have already taken place there between 2005 and 2009, and it was a big success every time. The Vercors Park is really enthusiastic
to restart the experience. This year it is the village of Ponet‐Et‐Saint‐Auban (120 inhabitants) who will welcome you. Hikers and adventurers, this workcamp is for you! WORK: Like in the previous years, you will work on the rehabilitation of one of the damaged paths. The main work will be to clear the brushwood, lay out some paths, rebuild a wall and a bridge that cross the Izarette brook. You will also restore a stone alley. ACCOMODATION: In a communal cottage in Die, at 7 km from Ponet‐Et‐Saint‐Auban. LANGUAGE: English and French. LOCATION: Ponet‐Saint‐Auban is a small village of 120 inhabitants located in the south of the Vercors Natural Park, at 7 km from Die and 65 km of the south‐east of Valence in a beautiful setting surrounded by mountains and forests. This site is for nature and hiking lovers. TERMINAL: Die train station. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Bring working gloves, good walking and working shoes, warm clothes and sleeping‐bag. Nights can be cold!!! Be careful: some work will be done with feet in the water. You have to bring your own waterproof boots. CONC 094 PLOUGRESCANT 02/09‐16/09 RENO 18+ 17 VOLS Project: The project consists in the renovation of municipal heritage, more precisely some old washhouses dispatched all along the countryside. Work: masonry: replace stones, repair stony walls and paving stones. Language: French, English. Location: Plougrescant is one of the most impressive sites in the beautiful Brittany. Behind Pink Granit Coast, you will find an old and very nice landscape. The city is small but touristic and you will discover a rare harmonious mix of stones, wood and water. Accommodation: Under tents in a camping, in front of the sea. Terminal: Guingamp train station. Airports: Rennes, Nantes or Paris. Special requirements: bring warm and waterproof clothes.
CONC 194 AVRICOURT 02/09 – 24/09 RENO 18+ 15 VOLS PROJECT: This is the 12th workcamp in Avricourt…..! This small village of 200 inhabitants wants to preserve its little church and so always welcome warmly the volunteers… Meals with inhabitants, vegetables, cakes and jam as gifts are typical in Avricourt… Many exchanges and meetings in sight… Beside the work in the church, you will organize and participate in activities with the young people of the village. At the end of the workcamp a concert will be celebrated in the church. Work: This year you will work outside the church: you will restore the joints of the northern wall. The work will consist in extracting old joints from stone walls and change some bricks. Location: Avricourt is located 15 km from Noyon in the north of the Oise County. Accommodation: in the second floor of the city hall and using the local public hall’s facilities. Meeting Point: Noyon train station.
Requirements: please bring a picture of yourself to add to the «facebook» of the Avricourt workcamp, and if you are a musician feel free to come with your instrument. The Noyon Harmony is ready to invite you to play with them for the final concert in the church. CONC 005 08/07 ‐ 29/07 CRUZILLES‐LÈS‐MÉPILLAT RENO/ENVI 18+ 12 VOLS PROJECT: The village of Cruzilles‐Lès‐Mépillat is really looking forward for the new workcamp coming in 2011. The one of 2010 was such a success that there is no doubt, the local population will be glad to welcome you. The partnership with the local youth service will allow you to do a lot of activities. You will also have the opportunity to discover the region: the Beaujolais, the famous ponds of the Dombes… We deeply hope as last year, that this workcamp will be full of meetings, exchanges and workshops. WORK: This year you will work on two distinct places. First you will work at the “Empellement des Sires” and the after at “Pont des Grandes Vignes” (the continuation of the work started in 2010). In addition, you will renovate an old building located in the center of the village. You will change some elements on the roof and you’ll put new tiles. You will also participate in the development of a small leisure park for children. ACCOMODATION: You will stay in common rooms. The shower will be in a gym. LANGUAGE: English and French. LOCATION: Cruzilles lès Mépillat is one of the 12 villages of the “Pont de Veyle” village community. It is a rural village of 800 inhabitants located in the “Ain” department at 13km from the South of Mâcon, at 40km from Villefranche sur Saône and 70km away from Lyon. TERMINAL: Macon TGV train station SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: SCAFFOLDING CERTIFICAT (certificate for working at heights). Bring with you working gloves, good walking shoes, warm clothes, good sleeping bag, a torch and your swimming suit, a backpack. Be careful: You must be able to ride a bike that will be provided to facilitate your move. CONC 006 LA TERRASSE 08/07 – 29/07 RENO 18+ 15 VOLS PROJECT: It is the second year that a workcamp is organised in partnership with the village of La Terrasse. The idea is to keep the goal set in 2010: the village wants to emphasise the international exchanges between people. During all the workcamp everything will be done to multiply the exchanges with the local population of this nice village located in the mountain. Hiking and a lot of other activities will allow you to discover this nice place and its beautiful nature. WORK: You will rebuild a retaining wall using the traditional method of dry stone, a construction made without mortar. The wall is located on a road situated 3km from the village in a beautiful area surrounded by the mountains and waterfalls. We will take the bike every day to get to the wall on a hard and sloping way. Good physical condition is required. ACCOMODATION: Under tents in an international camping close to a lake, 10 minutes by bike to the centre of the village. LANGUAGE: English and French LOCATION: La Terrasse is located 35 km north‐east from Grenoble and 40km south from Chambéry close to Chartreuse Massif within a beautiful highland. The town is based on the right
side of Isere river, in the middle of Gresivaudan Valley. TERMINAL: Bus stop in “La Terrasse” town center. Airport: Paris or Chambéry‐Savoie. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Bring with you working gloves, good and comfortable walking shoes, a torch, swim suit, a good sleeping bag and warm clothes: nights are cold in the mountains! CONC 007 LA MOTTE SERVOLEX 08/07 ‐ 29/07 RENO 18+ 15 VOLS PROJECT: 10 years! It has been now for 10 years that the town of La Motte‐Servolex sets up each summer a workcamp. For the City Council, workcamps are really important, as the warm and friendly welcome to all volunteers. This year, the city Council offers the opportunity to volunteers to contribute to the development of social life in the town. You’ll have the opportunity to discover a lot about this region and to take part in several activities. You will have the occasion to learn different kinds of professional techniques. WORK: This year again, your work will be supervised by Lionnel, who works for the technical services of the Town Council. You will finish the works that we started in 2007: the realization of a facing stone on a retaining wall located on the site of the ʺButte de l’Eglise”. You’ll also realize 2 frescos using the technique of mosaic in the Henry Dunant Park next to the city center. ACCOMODATION: Under tents in a football stadium. Kitchen and bathroom are provided in a room just besides. LANGUAGE: English and French. LOCATION: In Savoie, a few kilometers from Chambéry. You can do hiking in the Bauges or Chartreuse, swimming in the Lake du Bourget or d’Aiguebelette, visit the old Chambéry, Annecy, Aix‐les‐Bains, the Abbaye de Haute‐Combe, the vineyards of Savoie ... Servolex La Motte is a town of about 12,000 inhabitants. Be careful: You must be able to ride a bike that will be provided to facilitate your move. CONC 010 SAINT‐PIERRE‐D’ALLEVARD 08/07 ‐ 22/07 ENVI 18+ 15 VOLS Project: Before moving to Lyon, Concordia’s regional delegation of Rhône‐Alpes was located in Saint‐Pierre‐d’Allevard. That is why the town hall and its inhabitants are waiting for a new international workcamp with pleasure. Several places of the village (marshland, arboretum, alpine pastures, gardens and hiking trails) have already been preserved and developed by ancient groups of volunteers. This year, you will have the opportunity to continue the work on the marshland and the trail. Work: You will work will consist on cleaning the « Marais de Sailles », a sensitive natural area classified since 1997. You will have to clean the brook, including take off the rubbish, cut back the trees around in order to get a revitalization of the nature. You will also work on the nature trail in order to emphasize the heritage from the 19th century. You will have to do some felling, cleaning
brushwood activities and possibly some masonry works. As every year, Annaïck, from the Environment Service of the city, will be happy to share her knowledge with you! Accommodation: Under tents close to the nursery school in the village centre. Toilets and showers are in the gymnasium next to the nursery school. Language: English and French. Work in wetland: rain boots are essential. CONC 031 VANXAINS 1 08/07 – 29/07 RENO 18+ 15 VOLS PROJECT: Vanxains is a little village in Dordogne, well known for its local fauna and flora. It counts few swamp sites, important for the diversity of the flora, ideal for nature lovers. The partnership with the village is always very advantageous for all: restoration of the small local inheritance, enriching exchanges between international volunteers and local population, warm welcome assured … It is to perfect this dynamics that two workcamps will be welcomed again this year, in order to continue the restoration of the wall surrounding some parkland which belong to the village and is used for cultural events in the summer months. WORK: Led by a technical leader from Concordia, you will take part in the restoration of both faces of a stone wall surrounding parkland. CONC 032 SORGES 08/07‐29/07 RENO 18+ 15 VOLS PROJECT: A small village of the Périgord, Sorges is regarded as one of the capital of truffle, and shelters the ecomuseum devoted to this famous mushroom. Two years ago, the municipality welcomed Concordia in order to rehabilitate a wall surrounding a pond situated in one of the hamlets composing the village. During the workcamp the technical realisation and the relations between local population and international volunteers went so well that everybody wanted to start again this experience. WORK: Led by a technical leader, you will take part in the restoration of the wall of the cemetery. Traditional masonry work.

CONC 034 DURAVEL 08/07‐29/07 RENO 18+ 15 VOLS PROJECT: Old Gallo‐Roman city, Duravel was called DIOLINDUM and was created by the Roman to become a military station on the way from Bordeaux to Lyon. Unfortunately, the vestige of this time disappeared with the religion wars in 1596. From this past, Duravel kept a very interesting patrimony: a roman church of the XI century which contains the mummified relics of the three saint bodies: Saint Hilarion, Saint Agathon and Saint Poemon. Wonderful square crypt, one of the rare pre‐roman monuments in France, the relic of the Saint Avit chapel classified like an historical monument, old houses, manor, capstan, wash house, and 160 meters of ramparts of the XIII century. You will work on a part of those. Last year, the council visited the Concordia camp that was welcomed in Biron, and they decided to work with Concordia in order to combine traditional restauration and exchanges between local population and international volunteers WORK: Led by a technical leader, you will take part in the restoration of the ramparts: reconstruction of the bit which is broken and waterproofing of the site. CONC 035 HAUX 08/07‐29/07 RENO 18+ 15 VOLS PROJECT: Partner since 2000, the council of Haux repeats its involvement with Concordia for the intercultural workcamps. Cordiality, spontaneity and good moods are what the workcamps in Haux are known for…This village, situated in the Entre 2 Mers area, is famous for its raw, its castle, for its church with a porch classified as a historical monument. The welcome of the inhabitants is friendly and it becomes an example for volunteers from all over the world. WORK: Led by a technical organizer, you will take part in the restoration of the stone wall of the church. ACCOMODATION: In the local village hall (collective living conditions). CONC 037 VERDELAIS 15/07‐29/07 RENO 18+ 12 VOLS PROJECT: Verdelais is a little village situated in the department of Gironde in the hearth of the vineyards. It has been several years that we are partner with holidays and leisure center (CVLV). This year, there are two aims to welcome workcamps: the first week will be the “kermestival La Vallée” (you will help to organise this event and take part in the logistic aspect. You will present the workshop about the intercultural training; the form and the content will be decided in majority during the workcamp). The second week you will work on the optimization of the habitation surface of CVLV. Verdelais is a place where you will meet the local population, friendly and welcoming. The intercultural relations will allow you to approach the way of life of Girondins, the traditions and the history. WORK: You will take part in two different missions: the first week will be about the logistic of the “kermestival” (assembly of festival tents, installation of barriers…) and the prepartion of workshop about intercultural training (that you will lead with the participant). Be careful, it is necessary to point out that the kermestival is far from the logic of festival (event for visiter on the way), but it is a manifestation “with a project behind” : From 19th to 23rd of july : The “kermestival” with “The valley of children” one day for nursery school and another one for primary school and animatons for leisure centre from the area and all public, one week of project for the 12/18 which will lead to “24 hours of the youngness” and one week of residence and artistical result for time and space of expression in the hearth of the village. The second week will be dedicated on the optimization of the habitation surface of CVLV, installation of insolating in the cellar, cleaning in the garden and laying of concrete if you have time. French will be an asset. CONC 038 DOMME 15/07‐05/08 RENO ENVI 18 + 15 VOLS PROJECT: Domme is a 13th Century medieval fortress town which knew how to defend against invaders. When you go through the doors, one of the most famous is “la porte des tours” with the graffiti’s templar, from which you can admire the splendid and exceptional town which offers the best view over the Dordogne River of any place in the surroundings. Beneath the pale golden stone of its buildings lie natural caves with stalactites and underground pools which are well illuminated. Last year, a Concordia workcamp worked to clear unwanted vegetation from the Château du Roy and to consolidate its ramparts, following what has been done in the past years by previous camps. This workcamp is an opportunity to experience for three weeks this magnificent site in the heart of the historic Dordogne region. WORK: Managed by a technical organizer, you will take part in bringing general improvement to the site of the Chateau du Roy: traditional masonry to consolidate some stone walls .You may have to clean the surroundings (wood cutting and removal of excess vegetation). CONC 063 CHANTELLE 2 06/07 – 26/07 RENO 18+ 17 VOLS PROJECT: The General Council of Allier, manager of the natural areas of the “Gorges de la Bouble”, undertook to protect and enhance the ecological and cultural heritage of these Gorges (river canyons) surrounded by forest. In this context, the renovations of the small built heritage were begun. They are part of an overall plan for the reopening and maintenance of land which have been gradually abandoned and invaded by vegetation. The site, which stretches for 4 km, kept a true wilderness. In addition, exchanges with associations and local people are on the agenda: meetings, visits and events will be on the schedule of your workcamp! WORK: near an abbey classified as an historical monument, you will renovate a shed (roof and walls) and part of the boundary wall that reflects the ancient agricultural practices (grazing,
vineyards ...). You will use traditional masonry techniques: work with lime mortar, use of old techniques and materials (stone, lime, wood, traditional tiles ...) LOCATION: Chantelle (1060 inhabitants) is located in the heart of the Bourbonnais in Allier county, 70 km north from Clermont‐Ferrand and 15 km north from Gannat. The heritage of the region offers a rich historical and cultural diversity: many castles, Romanesque churches, natural sites are present on the territory. CONC 064 GIAT 06/07 – 27/07 ENVI 18+ 12 VOLS PROJECT: Giat is a town situated in the heart of Combrailles, small mountain area traversed by numerous streams and dotted with ponds. Among these, “Ramade” has an area of 82 hectares. Used mainly for fishing, fauna and flora are protected. The municipality wishes to renovate facilities to discover the site and surroundings (pathways, observatory). This work will be the opportunity to welcome a first international workcamp. The volunteers will discover the richness of the landscapes and meet inhabitants during the numerous local fairs. WORK: You will participate in the renovation of wooden facilities which allow to discover the site: a wooden footbridge on a humid area and an ornithological observatory near the pond. Other small tasks may be planned, as the renovation of fences. LOCATION: Giat, is a town of 1000 inhabitants of Auvergne in the heart of Combrailles and near the Regional park “Plateau des Millevaches”. 60 km east from Clermont‐Ferrand. It’s a small mountain region with a rich natural heritage. ACCOMMODATION: two places tents, (bring your own sleeping bag) and collective tent for the group life. CONC 066 NOVACELLES 06/07 – 27/07 RENO 18+ 12 VOLS PROJECT: Within Novacelles Commune, Issandolanges is an historic medieval village built more than 1000 years ago but it has been deserted for 70 years. The heritage preservation work started has enabled the discovery of a bread oven, a chapel, a fortified castle site, a mill, a race… For the second consecutive year this site and the Arlanc village’s community will welcome an international workcamp. The exchanges with the local youth and the inhabitants, historic enthusiasts, promise to be rich! WORK: In the village of Issandolanges you will work on the restoration of the chapel. After an initial work of cleaning and sorting of stones, the purpose of the workcamp will be to reconstruct
the bases of the walls to find the initial plan of the chapel. You will also reconstruct one of the walls of an ancient house. Traditional methods of masonry will be used. LOCATION: Small rural Commune, Novacelles is part of the Arlanc villages community located in the middle of the Livradois‐Forez regional natural Park. Around 100 km away from Clermont‐Ferrand and 50 km from Puy en Velay, it is a region that knows and wishes to preserve its natural and built heritage. CONC 121 MONTREUIL SUR EPTE 06/07 – 27/07 RENO 18+ 15 VOLS PROJECT: Montreuil‐sur‐Epte is a small village situated in the department of Val‐dʹOise in the Regional Natural reserve of French Vexin. Country ʺof shadows and lightsʺ, Vexin is a place of tradition and the cradle of the impressionism, near Paris. Lovers of arts and culture are invited to come to follow the way of the impressionists who climbed towards the hills of Vexin on the Oise and Val‐dʹOise before getting down again on the Seine towards Claude Monetʹs waterlilies... a real green breath near Paris. HISTORY: French Vexin shelters a heritage outstandingly well preserved which survived for its major part the destructions of the Revolution and which justified the classification of the plateau in conformance with the classified sites. French Vexin indeed counts not less than 120 churches and 80 castles, partially or totally classified historic monuments. WORK: It is in this context of culture and history that you will be welcomed in Montreuil‐sur‐Epte. You will be involved in an action of saving and valuation of the Church Saint‐Denis. Peopled with more than 600 inhabitants, the village extends over more than 10 km2. The territory of the village is populated since the prehistory as gives evidence of it the discovery of cut flints. A few considerable historic sites are remarkable (church Saint Didier, two washhouses, the station of Rhus and an big archeological site of 50 ha). French Vexin shelters a heritage outstandingly well preserved which survived for its major part the destructions of the Revolution and which justified the classification of the plateau in conformance with the classified sites. French Vexin indeed counts not less than 120 churches and 80 castles, partially or totally classified historic monuments. WORK: It is in this context of culture and history that you will be welcomed to Epiais Rhus. You will intervene on an action of cleaning and renovation of the public pond of Chantereines right in the heart of the village. Your missions will consist in clearing surroundings of the pond and renewing the walls around it (depointing and repointing with lime plaster). Less than 20 km from the heart of Paris, it is yet a green town along the Marne, the gateway to the countryside. For the fourth consecutive year Chelles will host a group of international volunteers. This year we will focus our actions on the urban environment to help this town to create new solidarities! Convinced that sustainable development is a source of collective welfare, convinced that the workcamp is a real way for social cohesion, we immediately was captivated by this project. WORK: With a technical leader, you will create some spaces in the town to improve the local population surroundings. You will organise some awareness workshops for locals and children too. The village is close to the Regional natural reserve. The chapel, from 1850, will be restoring to become a room of theatrical repetitions and meetings for inhabitants. WORK: You will work on the restoration of the floor of a chapel. LOCATION: In the south‐west of Sarthe, between Angers and Le Mans about 45 km away from each town. ACOMMODATION: You will be accommodated in tents in a football stadium. Sanitary facilities are situated in the changing rooms. If you have tent, you can take it. Please bring a roll mat and a sleeping bag. TERMINAL: Meeting‐Point at the train station (Gare SNCF) in Sablé sur Sarthe. CONC 154 JUIGNE SUR SARTHE 08/07‐29/07 RENO 18+ 12 VOLS PROJECT: It will be the 3rd year that Concordia has a partnership with the village. Juigné sur Sarthe is a charming little Middle Age village that dominates the Valley of Sarthe River. The centre of the village has a church with a 12th century bell, a priory and typical houses from weavers. The municipality, proud of its patrimony, has started to work on the protection of the sites by restoring different walls. After an archaeological site, pre‐historical background of the walls was discovered. The village collaborates last year with Concordia in order to restore the town walls, at the entrance of the village. It will help to improve the living conditions of the inhabitants, who wait for you with open arms! WORK: You will continue and finish pointing the wall in a traditional way. LOCATION: In the south‐west of Sarthe, between Angers and Le Mans about 45 km away from each town. ACOMMODATION: You will be accommodated in a collective lodging in the football stadium. CONC 182 WIMEREUX 6/7‐27/7 RENO 18+ 15 VOLS PROJECT: The fort of la Crèche is an old military base in front of the sea between Boulogne and Wimereux. There is a French governmental organization called “Le Conservatoire du Littoral” which takes care of the coast with the objective to protect it. Since some years they work with a local association (in charge of the protection of the Fort of la Crèche) to give value to the military base in order to open it to the public. Now it is our turn to help them for the fourth year in this task. The association is waiting for us impatiently to help them in the works inside the military base. WORK: The volunteers have to secure the military base and also to give value to the remaining fortifications. The work will be also inside the barrack buildings (scratching out of walls and then coating and painting) if the weather is bad. LOCATION: The fort of la Crèche is situated in Wimereux, in Pas‐de‐Calais region. It is possible to see the English Chanel coast when the weather is good. ACCOMODATION: under tents in the public campsite. MEETING POINT: Boulogne sur Mer train station. REQUIREMENTS: Please bring your own working gloves. Tetanus vaccination is mandatory. CONC 213 ST IZAIRE 06/07 – 27/07 MANU/ENVI + 18 12 VOLS PROJECT: the village of St Izaire is a very nice village of the Aveyron region, an area very rich in historical heritage, crossed by the river “Le Dourdou”. During seven years, the volunteers made various works like clearing vegetation and doing basic masonry in the village and particularly around the castle. The town council decided to do a break during one year in 2010 and Concordia is back in 2011. Notice that you will be very welcomed by the inhabitants who are very friendly. WORK: Depending on the request of the needs of the village, you will have to do some basic masonry by installing some barriers along a parking and to clear the vegetation along the river. LANGUAGE: English LOCATION: You will live in St Izaire which is quite an isolated village, in south of France, between Millau and Albi, in the beautiful area called Aveyron. CONC 216 CASTELNAU DE LEVIS 15/07 – 31/07 CONS + 18 12 VOLS PROJECT: this is the nineteenth year that Concordia organises a workcamp in Castelnau‐de‐Levis. The groups were used to restore the weak parts of the castle, a pigeon house and various parts of heritage buildings in the village. Notice that the local population is very friendly and that an important bond is formed each year. WORK: this year, you will carry on the renovation of some weak parts of the castle by doing masonry.

CONC 013 BOUVESSE‐QUIRIEU 05/08 ‐ 26/08 RENO 18+ 12 VOLS PROJECT: Located in the north part of the Pays des Couleurs, on a rocky promontory, the old border between the Dauphine and the Savoy is under restoration since 1993. The Community of Communes of the Pays des Couleurs has started rebuilding the castle and the lower village with a church and fortified house. The goal is not to rebuild everything but to make visible the structure of the site as it worked a long time ago. This is the sixth consecutive year that the Community of Communes makes a partnership with Concordia to enhance this site. WORK: As the previous years, you will help to make some renovation work on an old path of the archaeological site. In addition, you will make some construction works to lay a path to the site. SITUATION: Located in the northeastern department of Isère, le Pays des Couleurs includes 18 municipalities, (22 000 inhabitants). Bouvesse‐Quirieu has 1 285 inhabitants and overlooks the Rhone Valley and the northern plain‐Isere. It is situated at 54 km from Chambery and 70 km from Lyon. You will be able to explore the nearby village of Morestel, the City of painters through its square tower of the 11th century and its painting galleries, the medieval village of Crémieu. You are going to discover the country of stone, between the museum Montalieu and the traditional houses. ACCOMODATION: You will stay in an old school in the hamlet of Le Bayard (250 inhabitants) in Quirieu. Camp beds, kitchen in a covered playground situated 500m from the working place. CONC 039 SAINT AULAYE 29/07‐13/08 ENVI / FEST 18 + 15VOLS PROJECT: On the threshold between Périgord and the southernmost Angoumois, Saint Aulaye is a dynamic small town situated on the banks of the Dronne, proud of its XIIth century castle and its Roman church. For the third year, the municipality of Saint Aulaye calls upon Concordia in order to improve a pedestrian path which was open last year by the volunteers, between the heart of the village and its surroundings. From the 5th to the 7th of August, the village organizes its 16th Spiced Music Festival, and the volunteers are expected to help organize it. WORK: Led by a technical leader, you will continue the work done last year and take part in the improvement of the pedestrian path. You will put in a guardrail and do traditional masonry work. During the festival, you will take part, along with the local population, in the organization and the logistical management of the event. CONC 040 CHATEAU DE LAXION 05/08‐19/08 RENO/FEST 18+ 15 VOLS PROJECT: Laxion castle is located not far from Thiviers, capital of the “foie gras” and is situated on Corgnac sur lʹIsle, village well‐known for its medieval architecture. The castle from the XVth and XVIth centuries is registered like an historical monument since 1946. After 2 fires in 1998 et 2008, it is now in restoration. That’s why the association “Save the Laxion castle” involves Concordia in the project in order to restore a stone wall and to take part in the organisation of the medieval festival in august. This project’s aim is not only around technical enhancement of this wonderful site but also to encourage the meeting between local population and volunteers. WORK: Led by a technical leader, you will take part in the restoration of a half dry stone wall. You will take part in the medieval festival to make sure everything goes well on the site the 6, 7, 13 et 14 of august. ACCOMODATION: You will live under tents and you will have the possibility to cook kebab and other grilled meat on the spot. Summary collective living conditions. SCAFFOLDING CERTIFICATE MANDATORY CONC 041 VANXAINS 2 05/08‐26/08 RENO 18 + 15 VOLS PROJECT: Vanxains is a little village in Dordogne, well known for its local fauna and flora. It counts few swamp sites important for the diversity of the flora, ideal for nature lovers. The partnership with the village is always very advantageous for all: restoration of the small local inheritance, enriching exchanges between international volunteers and local population, warm welcome assured … It is to perfect this dynamics that two workcamps will be welcomed again this year, in order to continue the restoration of the wall surrounding some parkland which belongs to the village and is used for cultural events during summer months. WORK: Led by a technical leader from Concordia, you will take part in the restoration of both faces of a stone wall surrounding parkland. Reconstruction, cleaning, renovation in the area where it is more or less standing. Traditional masonry.

CONC 042 EAUX BONNES 05/08‐26/08 RENO 18 + 9 VOLS PROJECT: For the third year, we are organising a workcamp with Eaux Bonnes community in order to renovate and promote the beauty of its pastoral heritage. Deep in the Ossau valley, in the heart of the Pyrenees, Eaux Bonnes (“Good Waters”) unites three other villages: Aas, Gourette and Assouste. It is a famous spa and also the biggest skiing area in the department of the Pyrénées‐Atlantiques. WORK: Led by one of Concordia technical leaders, you will help to rehabilitate a pastoral shed (traditional masonry work). ACCOMODATION: In the ski resort of Gourette (more information will be send with the infosheet). Summary collective living conditions. LANGUAGE: French and English. LOCATION: Eaux Bonnes is situated 50 km south of Pau and 10 km away from the spanish border. The Gourette ski resort (where you will be lodged) is located at 1350 meters high. CONC 043 GERE BELESTEN 05/08‐26/08 RENO /ENVI 18+ 17 VOLS PROJECT: For the third time the village of Gere Belesten hosts an international workcamp. Previous experiences had been appreciated by both the local population and the volunteers. The small village, which is located within the confines of the valley dʹOssau astonishes with its nature and the impregnable view of the Pyrenees mountains. WORK: Led by a technical leader, you will participate in the rehabilitation of a watering place: juncture and cleaning of the paving (traditional masonry work) and cleaning of the excess vegetation located at the entrance. ACCOMMODATION: Under tents at the local camping. Precarious collective living conditions. LANGUAGE: French and English.
LOCATION: Gere Belesten is a very small village, which is located in a valley (Vallée dʹOssau) about 30km south of Pau. TERMINAL: At the train station (SNCF) of Buzy‐en‐Béarn. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Bring a sleeping bag, a sleeping mattress, working clothes, solid shoes for the work and longer walks (rubber boots and mountains hiking shoes are recommended). Donʹt forget warm clothes as well as swimming clothes for those who like to step in the mountain river. SPECIAL NOTES: It will take around one hour by car between the camping and the place of work which is more elevated in the mountains. Most of the time you will go to work by car but you will still have a lot of walking to do. This camp is therefore recommended for those who like hiking and nature. CONC. 070 ESCUROLLES 03/08 – 24/08 RENO 18+ 12 VOLS Project : Concordia has been working with the community of “Bassin de Gannat” district since 1997. Many municipalities from this community have already hosted international workcamps. Based on small local heritage projects, these workcamps create loads of interest and expectations. As important as the work, the exchanges with the local population are the heart of this partnership. The second construction site of the season will take place in the village of Escurolles, for the seventh year. This small municipality has many historical buildings as its Roman church of the 12th century. Work: You will participate in the renovation of the walls of this Roman church, classified as a Historical Monument. You will use traditional masonry techniques such as taking off the old joints, making joints with lime (mortar), coating and brushing. You will also restore a pillar of outside support. Attention, you will work on small scaffoldings. Location: Escurolles (650 inhabitants) is located 50 km north of Clermont‐Ferrand and 10 km east of Gannat in Allier county. It’s a rural region rich in historical heritage (numerous castles and Roman churches). Accommodation: two places tents (bring your own sleeping mat) for sleeping and in the village hall which is equipped for group life. Toilets and showers in the soccer stadium’ changing rooms. CONC 071 DAVAYAT 03/08 – 24/08 RENO 18+ VOLS 12 PROJECT: In the 18th and 19th centuries, lime kilns, were very present in France. They assured production, which could be artisanal or industrial, for agriculture and construction. In Davayat, a small town of Puy de Dome, a local association is trying to save the remaining three lime kilns which were used until the beginning of the 1st World War. These ovens show us our recent history and activity of small industry that existed in rural areas. The volunteers of the association are waiting impatiently for you to discover their region and their town history.
WORK: you will work on the renovation of one of the three lime kilns by restoring a stone arch undergoing severe erosion. You will also stabilize the kiln (bowl of food and cooking) at the household level and the crowning. You will use traditional techniques with the use of stones and lime mortar. LOCATION: Davayat is a small municipality of Auvergne situated in the plain of Limagne, near the Volcanoes of Auvergne. About 20 km in the North of Clermont‐Ferrand. It’s a wine‐producing region which kept interesting traces of patrimony of the Gallo‐Roman times. ACCOMMODATION: under tents for two persons (bring your own sleeping bag) in the village near the youth center. Group life will be in the local youth center. TERMINAL: To Riom train station. CONC 073 03/08 – 24/08 SAINT GEORGES DE POISIEUX RENO 18+ 12 VOLS PROJECT: The partnership with the municipality of Saint‐Georges‐de‐Poisieux will strengthen activities of conservation and protection of its heritage, initiated by a local association, as the fountain “ L’Etang”. The original building with a wooden roof was built on a re‐emergence source. The water then flows into successive pools which were used as washhouse or drinking trough. This summer a first phase of work will give new life to this place surrounded by nature. The elected representatives, the volunteers of associations and inhabitants of the municipality will welcome the volunteers for this first international workcamp. WORK: Through traditional techniques of masonry, you will renovate the building of the former fountain‐washhouse by restoring the outer walls: making joints with lime and construction of covering filler. You will work then on the renovation of tanks, by removing the vegetation and strengthening the present elements of masonries. LOCATION: Saint‐Georges‐de‐Poisieux is rural district of the Berry situated in the South of the department of Cher. Berry is an important agricultural region with a rich history. Placed in 70 km east of Châteauroux and 150 km in the North of Clermont‐Ferrand this village tries to keep its picturesque side. ACCOMMODATION: At the local stadium. CONC 091 KERFLEAU 27/07 – 10/08 CONS 18+ 17 VOLS Project: Kerfleau is a union of about ten associations who work in the fields of the social and united economy: fair trade, sustainable development, solidarity, etc. Our common objective is to set up a long term partnership and it is one of the reasons of this workcamp. On the other hand it consists in the support to the local associations with the organization of a music festival. This project is lead in partnership with the local associations and inhabitants living there. Work: masonry, installation of wooden panelling, earthenware stone floors. Language: French, English. Location: Breal Sous Montfort is a very charming and small city (4500 hbts), located in the countryside, 18 Kms away from Rennes (capital city of Brittany). CONC 155 MONTFAUCON MONTIGNE 22/07 – 12/08 RENO 18+ 12 VOLS PROJECT: Maine et Loire is a noteworthy department thanks to about 1,200 castles and manors, and above all thanks to the marvellous edges of the Loire river and the vineyards as far as the eye can see. In Les Mauges, part of Maine et Loire, about 20 km away from Beaupréau and close to Cholet, WORK: You will work on the restoration of a wall by renovating and building the wall in a traditional way. LOCATION: 25 km in the North West from Cholet, 95 km in the south from Angers. ACCOMODATION: You will be accommodated in tents in a football stadium. Sanitary facilities are situated in the changing rooms. If you have tent, you can take it. Please bring a roll mat and a sleeping bag. TERMINAL: at Cholet train station. SPECIAL REMARKS: For more information, have a look at: www.monfautcon‐montigne.fr CONC 156 PARCE SUR SARTHE 05/08‐26/08 RENO 18+ 12 VOLS PROJECT: It will be the 2nd year that Concordia has a partnership with the village. On the edge of the Sarthe River, the village of Parcé sur Sarthe presents many buildings from the 15th and 16th centuries. It was destroyed at the end of the Hundred Year War and rebuilt with stones from the former fortifications; therefore the old walls are Parcéʹs history keepers. The centre of the village is composed of many narrow lanes decked out with flowers along which you can see old buildings
as well as the Saint‐Pierre tower, the salt cellar, many water wells and crosses. If you venture on the footpaths, you will admire the outline of a landscape of gardens and water from the panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Sarthe River. As you look around, you will spot the water mill, nestled between the stony village and the misty banks of the river. Just outside the village, there is the site of “Les Tourettes”: a long time ago, ladies used to watch from these towers their husbands who were hunting in the valley. WORK: You will continue the restoration of “Les Tourettes” in a traditional way. LOCATION: In the south‐west of Sarthe, between Angers and Le Mans about 45 km away from each town. About 10 km away from Sablé, Parcé is a small lively town, where many traditional festivities take place in August. ACCOMODATION: You will be accommodated in tents on the camp‐site on the edge of the river with view on the old water mill; cooking and eating under a big tent outside. The municipality wants to move the forge and to reconstruct it in the village square. The forge will be more visible. Moreover, some historical researches about this building were realized. This workcamp is in line with a project led during two years. WORK: you will restore a part of the forge: building walls in a traditional way. LOCATION: In Normandy, between Cherbourg and Saint‐Lô. This little village, situated in the centre of Poitou, will charm you with its hospitality and its country atmosphere. You will have several opportunities to organize hikes in the region. There, you will discover the local heritage with its numerous fountains and its wild nature. Especially in the “Marais Poitevin” you will enjoy a marvellous landscape. The network of intergenerational associations will welcome you with its local traditions. People speaking French and interested in local culture are welcome! WORK: You will work on the renovation of roof structure of a chapel. LOCATION: Limalonges is located in the department of Deux Sèvres, about 60 km south of Poitiers and north of Le Marais Poitevin.

CONC 159 SAINT LÉZIN 23/08 – 01/09 RENO 18‐25 YO 12 VOLS French‐speaking camp PROJECT: It will be the 8th year that the village of St Lézin will host an international workcamp, thanks to a partnership between Concordia and “Un pas de côté”, an association which offers cultural and artistic activities in the Aubance cultural centre in St Lézin. This year, you will work on the restoration of a wall in the town centre. Each weekend, artistic activities will be organized with the associations and the inhabitants to create together a show, which will be exhibited at the end of the workcamp. Food will mainly consist of regional biological products. WORK: You will do works of traditional masonry. LANGUAGE: French. LOCATION: St Lézin is a little village of 700 inhabitants, situated in the department of Maine et Loire between Cholet et Angers. ACCOMODATION: You will be accommodated in a collective lodging in St Lézin youth centre, in eco‐constructed cabins built by volunteers during previous workcamps. CONC 186 MOYVILLERS 03/08‐17/08 RENO 18+ 15 VOLS PROJECT: The village of Moyvillers and its 500 inhabitants are very enthusiastic with the idea of hosting this second workcamp. They are delighted to welcome and meet international volunteers. The small village wants to finish the embellishment and the protection of the surrounding area. All the more promotional actions of workcamps are led in the territory. WORK: Volunteers will work on the base of the church; define and extract old joints from stone walls. CONC 188 NEUFCHATEL EN BRAY 03/08 – 24/ 08 RENO 18+ 15 VOLS Project: It is the third time we organise a workcamp in this village of the “Pays de Bray”. The community is very keen in the safeguard of their heritage and so is ready to take an active part in the workcamp’s life by the organisation of entertainments for volunteers. This workcamp will carry on last year job: to maintain and restore the St. Radegonde Chapel. It is situated in an industrial and commercial area; but two steps of a legendary miraculous spring. The purpose of the council is eventually to make a space for meetings and exhibitions. The restoration of the St Radegonde chapel is a wide project with many others actors all the year long. Concordia’s workcamp is one of the hight light of this on‐going project. So be ready to meet very motivated and friendly locals. Work: In this workcamp you will carry on the safeguard of the chapel. The works will be to define and restore the joints of the chapel. This wall is build with a mix of stones, bricks and silex. Some works will be carried out on the legendary miraculous spring. Location: Neufchâtel in Bray is a small town located between Rouen and Amiens near Dieppe, in the heart of the beautiful county of Bray (a huge typical area of mixed woodland and pasture where there are cows to produce the famous cheese: “Neufchâtel”). CONC 189 RAINFREVILLE 03/08‐24/08 RENO 18+ 15 VOLS PROJECT: This is the first workcamp in the small village of Rainfreville located between Yvetot and Dieppe. The objective is through the conservation work on the local small heritage buildings to bring liveliness in the place. The volunteers will clean, restore and embellish an old barn located in a path to make it a pleasant stop for the walkers. WORK: Cleaning and removing old and unsteady parts of the barn and replace the coating of the wall in the traditional cob way. LOCATION: Rainfreville is located between Yvetot and Dieppe. ACCOMODATION: Under tents and a municipal hall for the collective life. MEETING: Meeting at Longueville sur Scie train station. Special information: It will be in a rural and isolated village. Nature lovers are very welcomed! CONC 191 PNR THIERS SUR THEVE 05/08‐26/08 RENO 18+ 15 VOLS PROJECT: This is the 2nd workcamp in Thiers sur Thève near the forest of Chantilly and Ermenonville. The village would like through the renovation of its small church to host volunteers and by this way to contribute to develop the heritage and the local life. It’s a small village which maintained its rural characteristic. WORK: The work will be to define the outside walls of the church and to renovate some joints.
The volunteers will have to cut stone if it is needed. LOCATION: Thiers sur Thève is situated in the centre of the regional natural park Oise Pays de France, near the Val d’Oise department and the town of Senlis. You will be in the centre of the Chantilly’s forest with its castle and its horse facilities. ACCOMMODATION: under tents with a community centre for the daily life. MEETING POINT: Orry la Ville train station. Special remarks: Scaffolding certificate. CONC 193 BERNAVILLE 17/08‐31/08 RENO 18+ 12 VOLS PROJECT: This is the first time that the village of Bernaville organizes a workcamp with Concordia. The municipality wants to save this old cross in stone located in the center of the village. In the past it was a in the middle of a traffic roundabout but since several years some protective measures have been taken to protect it from the cars. The volunteers will carry on the protection and the strengthening of its base. WORK: The volunteers will renovate the cross in stone by fixing the masonry joints, strengthening the base of the cross and eventually doing some stone cutting. LOCATION: Bernaville is in the north of Amiens in the Somme County near the Pas de Calais county’s border. ACCOMODATION: Under tents. MEETING: Meeting at Church Bus stop in Bernaville. CONC 219 COUPIAC 03/08 – 17/08 CONS + 18 12 VOLS PROJECT: For the third year, Concordia will organise a workcamp in Coupiac in partnership with a local association. The purpose is to continue the restoration of the walls of an old cemetery located in a little forest 1 km from the village. WORK: this year, you will carry on the restoration of small walls with the technique of dry stones. LANGUAGE: English LOCATION: Coupiac is a very nice village between Albi and Millau, in a very touristic and rich region in terms of heritage. ACCOMMODATION: Under tents just besides the village in an old camping with facilities (you may bring your tent if you have one) TERMINAL: Toulouse or Albi then St Sernin sur Rance (bus stop) Special requirements: only 2 buses per day. CONC 221 MONTCLAR 17/08 – 31/08 MANU + 18 14 VOLS PROJECT: this is the first time that Concordia works in Montclar, a small village in the Aveyron region, an area which is very rich in historical heritage. The aim is to clean ruins of a chapel
situated in a hamlet which has been restored since few years. The inhabitants will be very welcoming and will help the volunteers to discover this area. WORK: it will be very various and related to the ruins. You will have to clear the vegetation and to improve the area. LANGUAGE: english LOCATION: in the village which is quite an isolated village, in south of France, between Millau and Albi, in the beautiful area called Aveyron. U02 Plein la Bobine (La Bourboule) 06/06‐ 22/06 Fest/Kids 10 +18 French speaking camp The project : Festival Plein la Bobine 2011 = cinema + children + science ! You like one of these themes ? You are interested by 2 or 3 of them ? So, this workcamp is for you! The AFFE (local organisation for a film festival for children) organises every year the festival “Plein la Bobine” for children from 3 to 12 years old which aims to develop programs of visual education in connection with cinema. Every year has a different theme (in 2011 : the Science), celebrates a country (Sweden) and gives free hand to a partner (a Croatian organisation of a cinema festival). Cinema‐addict and interested by sciences, come to discover the festival Plein la Bobine ! Works : You will participate in the setting up of the festival: installation of the scenery, the exhibitions, the equipment, preparation of badges, posters, signposting. One part of your work will be linked to the often young public : welcome, seating, etc. You will also help in leading workshops and activities for children groups. All takes place in the casino of the town. Activities : On your arrival, leaders will propose several activities; but your ideas are welcomed and everything can be discussed. So be imaginative, the workcamp is a place for having fun! We don’t expect you to do activities on your own, you will live an experience in a group and things are planned within the group. Location : You will be based on the La Bourboule spa town (at an altitude of 852 metres), in the middle of the Nature Park of Auvergne Volcanoes. La Bourboule stretches on the banks of the Dordogne River crossed by many bridges and has a splendid sequoias wooded area. You will be located near the hiking paths and you will enjoy the activities organized by the municipality for the spa users. U03 Laskar Théâtre (Mauzun) 10/06‐ 22/06 Fest/Kids 5 +18 French speaking camp The project : Clowns, circus, an incredible brass band, capoeira and maybe a beard lady ! If you dream of this mix, come to join the Laskar Theatre : a clown company between theatre and circus tradition. With a small group of international volunteers (5 persons), you will integrate into the troupe who is preparing the second edition of the Cirque Printanier (Sping Circus Festival). The aim: to spread the circus and theatre arts in the country. Those who want to be initiated to the circus and clown art are welcome ! Works : You will integrate the small clowns troupe and as such you will participate in the setting up of the second edition of the Cirque Printanier (Spring Circus Festival) : installation of the big top and various equipment, helping to the general logistics link to the shows (signposting, ticket booth, security…). A number of historical pieces has been found on the site: tools, pottery, coins... You will work with local volunteers from all backgrounds as well as with people under professional training. Works : The person in charge of the archaeological project will guide you. The excavation takes place every day; however you will alternate 1 day of work and 1 day off with half of the group, so as to get some rest. On rainy days (if ever there are some!) you will carry out cleaning of the founded objects. This is a work that is sometimes challenging, but quite exciting if you are fond of archaeology. Its ruins are hidden behind trees and ivy. Its race is still visible at some places. There are also some trace of the barrage which allowed the water to run through the mill.
Your mission will be to valorise this place, to clear the mill of brushwood, to discover its architecture and to understand its layout all along your work. Works : You will participate into the valorising of this ancient mill, located at around 13km from The Palacret. Covered by luxuriant vegetation, your role will be to cautiously remove what is in the way so that the mill will be visible again for visitors. Some walls will have to be consolidated to avoid rain seepage. So you will participate to different kinds of work : wood clearing, earthwork, masonry work... We are waiting for you to bring your own creative ideas to enrich the project ! The Cerey is the urban and sportive park where, along the days, are scheduled sports or leisure animations, artistic workshops, theatre performances, concerts, etc. With a group of people in a professional integration course, you will help manage the logistics of the event. Your ideas and talent will have their place in the creation of surprise animations. The town aims at reaching the largest number of inhabitants, whatever their age or social status, and to give them access to a large range of sportive or cultural animations. Works : You will be part of the organizing team and participate to the 10 days of the « Mon été au Cerey » event. Works : Volunteers will build 2 wooden dugout canoe. How ? Hollowing out a tree trunk and pruning it in order to give to the wood the shape of a canoe. During the camp, volunteers can participate and lead archeological workshops for children. At the end of the camp, the dugout canoes will be launched on the lake. This town full of character near Rennes has preserved many elaborate, half‐timbered merchant houses. The town is dominated by the high towers of its medieval castle which is a classified historic monument. There are two faces to the castle, that of a powerful fortified castle built in the 12th century with its imposing towers, and that of a less austere mansion with conversion work and renovation completed up to the 18th century. A part of the castle accommodates the present‐day town hall. The workcamp will continue the renovation work on the moat of the castle. Works : You will participate in the restoration and the repointing of the moat walls using the traditional lime. The heritage service of the town continues its action of raising the awareness of the heritage of Langres, centred around the stone, with actions of animations for the children (initiation into the stone cutting), of insertion and voluntary construction projects for young people. Bring your own stone to this fascinating project intended to reawaken and embellish this site ! Works : You will participate in the reconstruction of the sleeping bridge of the famous Lunette 10, (small fort in front of the citadel), you will repair the joints (between stones) and will participate in the creation of arcs. You will learn the art of stone cutting, the masonry and the manufacturing of mortar. You will be asked to carry heavy loads. The technical leaders will inform you about safety regulations. After the exciting first year of works in 2010, let’s experience this wonderful adventure in the “Bois Gamat” peat bog. This remarkable natural area next to the beautiful city of Laval, has been damaged for years. The municipality wants to restore a part of it with help of international volunteers and supported by an ecological organization (Mayenne Nature Environnement). You will achieve works needed for the conservation of the peat bog. Your program: maintenance of the peat bog in order to facilitate the biodiversity, maintenance of the banks of the brook bordering the wood… Your intervention will allow environmental protection. At the end of the workcamp you will exhibit photos taken during the workcamp and share your
work with the local population. A particular attention will be paid to ecological respect and sustainable development all along your stay in Laval. Works : You will realise works necessary for the conservation of the peat bog of “Le Bois Gamat”. Your program: maintenance of the peat bog in order to facilitate the biodiversity, maintenance of the banks of the brook bordering the ʺBois Gamat”. Your intervention will allow nature conservation! The second part of the work will focus on creating a path from the area next to the peat bog until a farm on the other side of the peat bog. Local people would have the opportunity thanks to that work to know better the surroundings and discover natural sites during their walks alongside the path. It is a theatre, music and dance ʺecofestivalʺ in the middle of the natural site of the Blanhac mills (village of Rosières). This year again, the team will welcome international volunteers in order to help organizing the festival and to take part in the activities. You will be fully integrated within the life of this young and dynamic organization and you will have the opportunity to meet the artists invited and to develop increased awareness of ecoresponsability during the festival. Works : You will participate in the logistics of the event. You will welcome people (around 1000 visitors), take in charge the reception (ticket booth, refreshment bar…) and take down the facilities at the end of the festival. The place has remained uncultivated for about 60 years now. Works : The goal of this workcamp is to rebuild two dry stone walls using rock debris of the place. You will also renovate a path leading from one of the shelters in the wall to the Crany tower and you will clean the stairs of the tower. The project :Plunge into the World Cultures ! You will take part in the organization of the 36th edition of the festival Les Cultures du Monde : during 10 days around 400 musicians and dancers from all over the world will share their performances in a multicultural context. The National Association Cultures et Traditions is the organizer of the festival and attracts every year a large number of local volunteers before (involved in the preparation of the project) and during the 10 days of the festival. They will welcome you and be your guide. This workcamp is a great opportunity for you to meet new people and new cultures. Works : You will be fully involved in the organization of the festival « Cultures du Monde » (from 21th to 31th of July 2011): creation an installation of decorations, putting up stands and stages, working at bars and catering, welcoming the public, tidying up and cleaning the festival sites. It dominates the plain of Lorraine and offers an infinite panorama on the old traditional orchards. On the south side, the visitor discovers the vestiges of a fort built by the count of Vaudemont. Reconstructed in 1741, the basilica of Sion celebrates the cult of Mary which is the object of pilgrimages even today. A Virgin overhangs the impressive tower of 45 meters high. La Margeride also has numerous heritage treasures and its history is made of old legends. You will discover the wonderful landscapes and very typical villages of the region. The nearest town is Saint‐Flour, 14 kms away from Ruynes en Margeride. Accommodation : You will sleep in 2 places tents and a big collective one will be used as a cooking place and bathroom fittings. The Allier general council manages the sensitive natural area of the Bouble Gorges and has begun the reopening and the maintenance of abandonned fields (meadows, wineyard terraces), filled with weeds. Located below the Chantelle village and its abbey, it is also a great place for walking and for raising public awareness on natural heritage. For this, the several workcamps will aim at renovating a small cottage in stones and low walls linked to former pastures. The project ʹs goals are : ‐ Safeguarding built heritage attesting of past agricultural practices ‐ Helping the future re‐opening of past pastures and thus preserving pasture‐related flora ‐ Making people rediscover the ancien canal. Local volunteers will be part of the team: they will tell you about and make you discover their region ! Works : You will work to safeguard the built heritage on former pastures. It will consist of several stages : renovation of a stone cottage covered with vegetation, rebuilding of low walls, repairing an old gate. Volunteers will participate to different kinds of work : weed clearing, removing broken walls, traditional masonry (lime), carpentry and roofing, lime slab making, painting and small mending of the gate. Nowadays, the old outbuildings of the castle shelter a distillery where you will find local brandies and liquors of quality. Works : You will participate in the reconstruction of several parts of the castle, more precisely the tower. Activities : You will do masonry work with the help of a technical coordinator. Location : Beaufremont is a town in the Vosges department in northeastern France. The village, hung up the hillside, overhangs a rather big area around which weeping willows on a falling ground betray the past presence of the banks of a pond. This fort, called also ʺThe Eye of the witchʺ, is an ancient part of a dungeon, celebrated for its beauty overhanging the town, such an enormous wheel on top of the mound. This site is the heart of a project of touristic and cultural development. Come and join the young people of Thann for this project ! Works : For this year, you will work with the masonry before re‐jointing, to re‐strengthen the ancient facings and for the excavation. You will clean the wall while paying attention to the vegetation which can be an element of support for the stone. A path needs to be rehabilitated, as well as a low wall of dry stones which needs to be restored.

The project lead by the ʺRacine et Patrimoineʺ organisation and the municipality of Mezeray which owns the potter workshop, is to rehabilitate the site in order to create an educational space linked to pottery. It is also the maintenance of local memory for arts and crafts. Works : Works are to be made in order to avoid a deterioration of the pottery kiln next to the workshop. Works will focus on the pottery kilnʹs roof and the “alandier” (the part near the opening of the oven). Chimneys will be rebuilt with earthstones. Those workcamps take place within the context of a long‐term project of restoration and improvement of the reception sites for groups and outside activities of the centre. Located in the gorges of the Tarn, the EPMM organization welcomes groups for outdoor activities. Over the last two years, the volunteers have made redevelopment works around the centre. Works : You will continue to work on a stairway made of stones. These various installations allowed the farmers to diversify their agricultural activities in order to survive in this very isolated place. These tools are now out of use and we are planning to repair them in order to revive the history of the farm and to develop educative activities for our publics. The work will consist in re‐building the greenhouse frame, constructing a shelter above the hydraulic ram and laying a concrete slab to put the still with lavender. It is also planned to create footpaths with wooden steps to make these installations accessible for the visitors. This workcamp also offers the opportunity to organize walks in the mountains, to discover the rural way of life and to visit the region. In July, you will be able to get involved in a cultural and musical event named “Festiv Alpages en Pleine Terre” that we are organizing at the Faï and “Café du people” in Veynes. SJ07 | Jaligny‐sur‐Besbre | 28.05 ‐12.06 | RENO PROJECT (12 vols, 18+): Jaligny (650 inhab.), at the edge of the river « la Besbre », with an old castle built in the middle‐ages, organizes its first international work camp. Your project consists in renewing the roof of a public shelter, close to the covered market where the famous « Turkey Fair » takes place every year. You will have to fix the roof structure as well as to cover it with new tiles. The town council also aims at creating contacts and animations with the inhabitants, namely the youngsters. ACCOMONDATION: Inside a public house LOCATION: Jaligny‐sur‐Besbre / Allier / Auvergne NEAREST TRAINSTATION: Moulins SJ04 | Leucate Pond | 30.05 ‐17.06 | ENVI PROJECT (15 vols, 18+): The Leucate Pond is a pond situated at the border to the Mediterranean sea. It has two sources of fresh water but is also connected to the sea by two channels. This sea‐pond is maintained by different organisms like the syndicate RIVAGE which works for the protection of this particular biotope. The work will consist in removing invasive plants that threaten the balance of the pondʹs biotope: “the witchʹs claw”. There will be visits and information meetings for participants in order to discover and be sensitized for this exceptional environment. ACCOMMONDATION: In tents on a camping site LOCATION: 40 km from Perpignan and Narbonne, at the sea side. The closest train station is Leucate‐La Franqui. SJ08 | Melle | 06.06 – 27.06 | ART PROJECT (10 vols,18+): Melle is a small, nice and attractive town, situated in the center of the region Poitou‐Charente. Melle has an important heritage, its romanesque churches (one is classified by Unesco), Silver Mines from the Middle Ages and arboretum with more than 1800 vegetation species. The town of Melle has been organizing the Contemporary Art Festivals since 2003 for French and International high‐leveled artists. During this art workcamp the volunteers will participate in the creation of an important piece of art by the artist Mona Hatoum. They will as well help the other artists and participate in the organizing of the festival. The volunteers can enjoy the numerous cultural activities (concert, jazz festival, tourist attractions...) An excursion will be organized to discover the region (towns, sea...).Interaction with the local population and the artists will be possible. SJ10 | Open air Cultural centre, Faï | 11.06 ‐ 01.07 | CONS PROJECT (12 vols, 18+): The Faï residential centre hosts a unique musical ensemble: in front of the imposing rocky cliff which unfolds on 2km above the farm, two gigantic trumps made of wood and concrete were built with the help of an engineer acoustician. The trumps allow to “make the mountains sing” by projecting music onto the cliff which reverberates its musical echoes everywhere in the valley, such as a natural cathedral. Thirty meters down below, an open air theatre has been fit up since 2008. It can host up to 400 spectators on terraces carved in the slope
field that faces a wooden pontoon constructed on stilts at the surface of a small artificial lake. This year, the work will consist in extending this pontoon in order to have a real stage to host the artists. This workcamp that takes place at the beginning of the warm season offers the opportunity to organize walks in the mountains, to visit the region and to discover the “fête de la musique” (musical festivals) taking place in June. This year the town hall wishes to finish the work of beautifying the church square. The volunteers will have to develop the surrounding area of this church into a place suitable for gatherings and conviviality. The technical objectives will be to dig out and remove the joints in a part of the outside lower wall and then to fill them again with lime mortar, to canalize the rain water and to carry out landscape work. The inhabitants of Vallet are motivated to make the workcamp a project of interaction and rich intercultural exchanges by organizing visits to the region (the ocean, cities).The volunteers will be able, with the workcamp leaders, to organize their own leisure time and activities. The work will consist in the renovation of a retaining wall, called « la Prugnerette », along a path on one side of the village. Youʹll be guided in the work by a dynamic town employee and probably some villagers will come and help. Some young mentally handicapped people will join twice a week to work together with you and to share some leisure time. During the free time you will have the opportunity to discover this beautiful countryside area, including the Gorges de lʹAveyron river, and some surprisingly well‐preserved medieval villages such as Saint‐Antonin Noble Val, Caylus, Cordes sur Ciel, Najac...One festive event of the Occitan summer seminar (Lenga Viva) will take place in Verfeil during this period and will enable you to enjoy and get a little bit more acquainted with this local culture. Jouarre is a small town, known for its rich historical heritage. The volunteers will finish the restoration of the wash‐house of the town (cleaning and gouging), supported by the youth and the inhabitants of Jouarre. They will
participate in many local animations and will also have the possibilty of discovering Paris and the local cultural heritage. It includes a large historical and architectural patrimony. Your mission will be the renovation of a brick and stone wall in a little park as well as the archway wall along the youth club. This workcamp is organised in partnership with the MJC, local Youth and Culture Centre, and will give you the possibility to meet the young inhabitants of Verdun and to share some leisure time with them. Youʹll also have the opportunity to discover some architectural treasures of the town and its surroundings, such as for example the well‐known Grand Selve Abbey. Visiting the near‐by farms will enable you to taste and enjoy many local products. NEAREST TRAIN STATION: Dieupentale SJ18 | Bocage Sud | 04.07 ‐ 23.07 | ENVI/RENO PROJET (12 vols, 18+): The region of Bocage Sud, which is 25 km away of Moulins, invites volunteers to take part in a traveling work camp in order to discover the area. Successively, the group is going to visit the communities of St Hilaire and Noyant‐dʹAllier. In St Hilaire, he volunteers will work on the renovation of cemetery (traditional masonry). In Noyant‐dʹAllier, a village marked by its history of mining and the presence of a large Asian community, they will landscape and maintain a part of the hiking trail and work in the renewing of the Mine Museum and also at the school. ACCOMMONDATION: Inside a public house LOCATION: St Hilaire et Noyant‐dʹAllier / Allier / Auvergne NEAREST TRAIN STATION: Moulins SJ21 | Vendeuvre | 06.07 | 27.07 | RENO PROJECT (12 vols, 18+): After the recent overtaking of the ruins of “le Château de Bonnivet” by the municipality of Vendeuvre, they have decided to organize a new International workcamp to renovate a part of the site. The idea of the town hall is to put new value to the site by renovating and maintaining it with international workcamps over the years. The technical objective of the work is to clean out the plants in the walls and to do the restoration afterwards. An other project during the workcamp will be the renovation of a traditional bread oven. In their freetime the volunteers will participate in all sorts of activities, organized by an association of Vendure (cultural, sports and trips around the region). The inhabitants and the local associations are looking forward to the volunteers arriving and hope for and international workcamp rich of cultural exchanges.

This little dynamic town is very sensible about their local heritage and are concerned about the tourist development. “La Maison de la Foret”, eco‐museum, works on promoting the local heritage by organizing hikes and exhibitions. The work consist of renovating an old tile‐oven on “The path of discovery” at “La Maison de la Foret”. The technical objectives of the work: cleaning around the oven, re‐build parts of it with traditional limestone and bricks like the walls and the arch of it. The inhabitants of Montlieu la Garde are motivated to turn this workcamp into a place of meeting and intercultural exchanges and have arranged trips around the region (the ocean, cities). The volunteers, with the workcamp leaders, will be able to organize their leisure time activities as well. ACCOMMONDATION: In a school LATION: Montlieu la Garde, 55 km from Bordeaux, 75 km from the ocean NEAREST TRAIN STATION: Montendre SJ23 | Lesdiguières castle, le Glaizil | 07.07 ‐ 28.07 | RENO PROJECT (12 vols, 18+): Some kilometers away from the road N85 that links Gap to Grenoble, under the mountain named Faraud, stand the ruins of Lesdiguieres’ castle, at the entrance of the hamlet of Lesdiguieres. The castle was built between 1571 and 1580 by François de Bonne, the future duke of Lesdiguieres and last Constable (“supreme commander”) of France. In order to preserve and highlight the ruins of this edifice, it is planned in 2011 to reconstruct a portion of the surrounding wall and to make visible the stonework situated at the entry of the castle. This workcamp offers the opportunity to discover some techniques of traditional masonry, to take part in the “fête du Connétable” (a village festival on the theme of the Renaissance period) and to meet with the local population. The volunteers can also organize walks in the mountains, sportive activities and touristic visits and go swimming in the lakes and rivers around. ACCOMMONDATION: In tents, at the holiday center called “la Tuile aux Loups”, 5 km away from the workcamp site. LOCATION: The hamlet of Lesdiguieres is situated on the municipality of le Glaizil (Hautes Alpes), 30 km from Gap NEAREST TRAIN STATION: Gap SJ26 | Albias | 09.07 – 29.07 | RENO PROJECTS (15 vols, 18 +): Albias has been built in the XIIIth century, on the shore of the Aveyron river, in the heart of the regionʹs farmlands. A national road, connecting the famous towns of Montauban and Cahors, dating from the XVIIIth century crosses the village. The centre, made of brick and stone buildings is being renovated by the municipality. The workcamp will consist in several small operations on one of the main squares. The volunteers will restore a little wall, a brick fountain, the Cross and Virginʹs statues pedestals, paint these statues and repaint the walls inside the church. A couple of retired masons will help you on these tasks partly based on the villageʹs Christian heritage. Youʹll be welcomed by a dynamic and motivated municipal team, as
well as friendly inhabitants who will guide you in the village, to discover its heritage, its park on the river shore, and its summer events among which outdoors cinema. The leisure will also consist in going hiking, bicycle riding, canoeing, but also on a cultural side, visiting Montauban and its famous Ingres Museum... NEAREST TRAIN STATION: Montauban SJ30 | Ronchamp | 09.07 ‐ 30.07 | RENO PROJECT (16 vols, 18+): For the second year Ronchamp is hosting a workcamp in cooperation with the community of the village and the local organizations. The aim of this camp is to regive value to the ruins of an old fountain named Sainte Marie besides the road that leads to the chapel « Notre Dame du Haut ». The volunteers will participated in the reconstruction of the place. Another work will be the cleaning and painting of old coal lorries. As Ronchamp is candidate to become heritage of UNESCO in 2012 the work accomplished by the volunteers will directly contribute to this aim ! Different activities already prepared by the inhabitants of Ronchamp are waiting for the volunteers during their free‐time and will give them the opportunity to get into contact with the local population as well as the discover the cultural heritage of the region Franc‐Comtois. This house, which hosts young people between 12 and 25 years old, needs a complete renovation. Plastering and painting on the outside, painting in the inside. The work will be shared with the local youth, who are invoveld in the citizen workcamp of the town. The volunteers can participate in various activities with the young of the town (visiting Provins, Paris, meeting workcamps, sportive activities...). The area of Montjean is a beautiful wooded parc, classified as sensitive nature space. The volunteers are going to restore its town wall out of meulière stone. They will be initiated in the traditional technics of masonry (sticking stones, gounging based on chalk). Two days per week, the workcamp will host the children from the leisure time center. PROJECT (15 vols,18+): La Redoute de la Butte Pinson is a fortification dated to the end of the 19th century. This construction is situated in the middle of a futur regional parc, 110 ha wide. Since six years, the young people of the workcamps participate in the restoration of the area with the aim of opening it to the public. This year, by doing installation, planning, clearing off plants and planting, the volunteers will participate in the embellishment of the place. A coop and an enclosure will be also installed. The youth services from four parnter towns will come and support the volunteers and many excursions are planned with the local youth (Paris, trip to the seaside, auberge espagnole). The volunteers will be accomodated in a school about five minutes from the place of the workcamp. For this first workcamp, the volunteers are going to create together two frescoes to repaint the hall of the community center and the wall of the football stadium tribune. The topic of the frescoes is the solidarity and the peace between peoples. They will get help from the local youth, with whom they also can descover the local heritage and visiting Paris. Formerly used by the inhabitants for their daily consumption, the sources are now in a bad condition. The volunteers will also have the possibility to plunge themselves in the thermal history of Cusset, which is located in the radius of Vichy. PROJECT (12 vols, 18+): The village of Vaunieres welcomes young people of every place and of every country and bring them to work together on cultural, environmental or building projects. To host cultural events we have a party room in one of our buildings, but there is no insulation so that it can only be uses during summer. In this work camp you will work on plastering walls with a “Lime/Straw” plaster, and on little internal building modifications. You will be accommodated in a tent with a kitchen access and you will participate in the daily life of the home with other groups. It is an ideal time to meet people from all around the world and you will meet some groups of young French people too. In the middle of the Alps it’s a good place to discover flora and fauna and mountain life. You can also visit some of the tourist attractions of the area. The narrow centre streets are still flanked with brick archways and the municipality has recently discovered an ancient pier which has been active until the French Revolution. This village is situated in an orchard area, with apple and prune trees. Welcome by a passionate and dynamic municipal team and guided by a friendly duet of retired mason and carpenter, you will restore this ancient pier brick wall. During your stay youʹll share some leisure activities and visits with the warm‐hearted inhabitants and associations. Youʹll have the opportunity to discover the magnificent architectural heritage of the surrounding villages and towns such as Moissac, Castelsarrasin, Auvillar, Belleperche Abbey... Another pleasant leisure activity is to go hiking or bicycle riding along the shores of the famous Canal du Midi. ACCOMMONDATION: In A dormitory at the ancient school LOCATION: Saint‐Aignan is located 20 km West of Montauban. NEAREST TRAIN STATION: Montauban SJ39 | Monteils | 16.07 – 06.08 | RENO POJECTR (15 vols, 18 +): Monteils is a dynamic little village which contains a rich built heritage. The work will consist in restoring a low wall with standing stones, which is typical of this area of the Quercy region. Originally, the stones were flat and standing up vertically in a line in order to mark the boundaries of the fields and paths. You will work together with a retired mason who will also tell you the history of the village. During the workcamp youʹll have the opportunity to meet the many associations of Monteils and to share some friendly moments with their members. In the leisure time youʹll be invited to participate in the local summer celebration, and you might as well visit the Hat Festival in Septfonds, nearby village. You will also have the chance to go hiking, swimming in the river, visiting farms, to savour the sweet rhythm of life of the Quercy region and the Gorges de lʹAveyron. SJ40 | Bocage Bourbonnais | 20.07 ‐ 10.08 | RENO PROJECT (12 vols, 18+): The municipalities of Bocage Bourbonnais bents on a valorization and political animations of its area. That is why it organizes every year an international work camp in order to invite volunteers to this beautiful region, where the dynasty of “Bourbons” is born (these were kings of France in the XVIth and XIXth century) The work takes place in two different communities. In Vieure, you will have as your mission to renovate the exterior walls of an old building situated next to the church (masonry). In Autry‐Issards, the project is to develop a point of recycling to encourage the local population into discovering the advantages of recycling the garbage. During this one week the festival attracts about 30 000 visitors. The team helps with the installation, animates the stands and the festive moments and assists at the dismantling of the festival. This work camp is challenging and demands a highly implication of the volunteers. ACCOMMODATION: Inside a public house LOCATION: Souvigny / Allier / Auvergne NEAREST TRAIN STATION: Moulins SJ43 | Bilhères en Ossau | 23.07 – 13.08 | RENO/ENVI PROJECT (12 vols, 18 +): BilhÈres is a mountain village in the middle of the Ossau valley in the Pyrenees, which is famous for its sheep cheese and its amazing mountain panoramas. This workcamp is dedicated to a hiking path linking the village to the Houndas Chapel, 2 km away. You will participate to the restoration of the pavement and dry stone walls lining along the path as well as clearing of the brushwood and creating cobblestone gutters to evacuate the rain water. As the path is much used during summer, you will also work on the marking signs for the hikers. The works will be guided by local people. You will receive informations about mountainʹs dangers in order to behave cautiously in this environment. You will discover the situation of pastoral farming by spending one week‐end on the high pastures and one‐day hikes will unveil one of the most beautiful Pyrenean valley. You will be hosted in a farm on the hills above the village, 15 mn away from the working place. ACCOMMONDATION: In tents with access to a kitchen, dining room and bathroom. Situated at the entrance of the vineyards of St Pourçain and in proximity of
Souvigny (Medieval Festival from the 30th of July until the 6th of august), you will have numerous occasions to discover the cultural and historical wealth of the Bourbonnais. Some youngsters of Moulins will participate with you during the work camp. In the gorges of the river « la Bouble » (Sensitive Natural Area), you will work on a path along the gorges of the river Bouble, really touristic site classified under “Sensitive Natural Area”. The community hopes to also contribute to a maximum of animations during the time of the work camp. Her privileged situation actually happens to be an excellent point of departure to discover the region of Vichy and Saint‐Pourçain. Two rivers cross the village, dominated by a very old castle, at the crossroad of three provinces, Tarn‐et‐Garonne, Tarn and Aveyron. Laguépie is hosting Citrusʹ activities all year long. This summer the project is to build a traditional bread oven, open to all villagers, near the Viaur river shore. This work will be guided by a retired mason, granted as « Best Craftsman of France ». Heʹll share his passion for stone building, his funny jokes, and maybe his bread baking secrets..!! The free time will give you the opportunity to go hiking to discover some nearby medieval villages such as Cordes sur Ciel and Najac, to visit Laguépieʹs essential oil distillery, to swim in the river, to go canoeing, and most of all to enjoy this well‐preserved nature of the Gorges de lʹAveyron. ACCOMMONDATION: In tents LATION: Laguépie is located 100 km north‐east of Toulouse and 40 km west of Albi. NEAREST TRAIN STATION: Laguépie SJ50 | Footpaths and rivers, le Saix | 01.08 ‐ 21.08 | ENVI SJ51 | Footpaths and rivers, St Auban d’Oze | 01.08 ‐ 21.08 | ENVI PROJECT (12 vols, 18+): Le Saix and Saint Auban d’Oze are two little villages (70 to 90 inhabitants) located in the Buëch valley, a very rural area of the South Alps. The villagers are anxious to protect their environment and to preserve the biodiversity as well as improving their way of life. They also want to improve the attractiveness of their villages for holiday makers. During these workcamps, the volunteers will clear the rivers (cut down trees, select species, remove dead woods etc.) to prevent floods. They will also reopen and clear a footpath that starts from le Saix and climbs into the mountains towards the mountain Aujour. This workcamp is a good opportunity to discover the rural lifestyle, meet with local farmers and families. One of Solidarites Jeunesses intercultural centres (the Faï farm) is situated a few kilometers away. Throughout the years, we
have developed a strong partnership with these villages: organization of festivals, workcamps and cultural evenings. The volunteers will take part in the organization of the annual local festival of the villages le Saix ad St Auban d’Oze. There are also many opportunities to visit the region and get the most out of your stay (swimming, trekking). Situated in the south of the Saintonge Boisée department, the town‐hall wishes to organize a project to make a whole trail of international workcamps. This year, there is a tile furnace to renovate. The work will be like excavating, to discover and re‐build the already existing part, only by the help of traditional methods and material from the region. The volunteers will meet the inhabitants by collecting evidence about the history of the structure. The town‐hall has a strong will to discover the region with the volunteers. They have arranged tours for the volunteers, tourist tours, cultural visits and sportive activities, etc. Exchanges between the local population and the volunteers are possible too for example trough the international dinners or the the game “generations between”. This association has a small place giving the possibility to exchange and create of contact between different artists. Together with a professional, the volunteers will build an extended wood frame to expansion the floor of the room. They will also work on an already existing stair way. The volunteers will exchange and discover different handcrafts with the members of the association “le café des Arts enʹtelle” : Ceramic, Weaving, Sewing, through worshops of exchanges of knowledge. The inhabitants and the association of Matha are looking forward to this time of
meeting and intercultural exchange. The trips around the region (the ocean, visit of cities,museum) have already been arranged. The working aim of this camp is the restoration of the road pavement besides the basin of an old fountain. This work will be accomplished using old traditionnelle methods. The volunteers donʹt need to have special knowlegde to participate in this work. The afternoons will be spend to discover the region in company of the local population. The workcamp offers as well the possibility to get to know what it means to live togehter with a bunch of people coming from other cultural backgrounds and to organise this experience for the best of everyone! NEAREST TRAIN STATION: Vesoul SJ62 | Beceleuf‐Rochard | 06.08 – 27.08 | RENO PROJECT (12 vols, 18+): Beceleuf is a small village near to “Marais Poitevin” which has already participated in several summer workcamps. Rochard is an old farm which has been transformed into a hostel to host groups of trekkers/backpackers and campers by an association. The place, situated between the shores of a river and a lake is very peaceful and respecting against environment. The objective of the work is to renovate the roof of the hostel. Another project is to work with traditional masonry and also to carve stones. The leisure time activities take the biggest part of the workcamp. Trips around the region, the village festival, concerts ,astronomy, music and traditional dancing arranged by the camping club, are some of the activities which the volunteers are invited to join. state of mind and the dynamism of the former participants we wish to renew this positive experiment. Such tokens of our architectural as low stone‐walls need repairing. The volunteers will work on the restoration of dry‐stone walls (without mortar).They will be taught environmentally ‐friendly methods and traditional techniques. The ʺcommuneʺ and its inhabitants will regularly organize events, outings, visits and activities that the volunteers are more than welcome to take part in. The workcamp will give the participants an ideal opportunity for meeting new people and exchanging cross‐cultural interests. But the existing trails lead to other villages and other places and there are few possibilities of returning to the same point in the evening without making a round trip. Last year a loop trail has been started to have a walk around Le Quigouret, one of the surrounding peaks. This year it’s the return portion on the other side which will be done. It will bring you to design, draw and create a pleasant family hike. This site offers the opportunity to meet young people from around the world to discover the rural lifestyle, achieve an average hiking mountains, visit some tourist attractions in the region and share many festive moments with all the other young welcomed in Vaunières. ACCOMMONDATION: In tents LOCATION: Vaunières hosting centre is located 7km far from St Julien en Beauchêne village (Hautes Alpes), 40km from Gap and 200km north from Marseille NEAREST TRAIN STATION: Lus la Croix Haute SJ66 | Massat | 09.08 – 29.08 | RENO PROJECT (15 vols, 18 +): Massat is a mountain village in the middle of the Pyrenees in a beautiful landscape surrounded by peaks, forests and pastures. The local Mountain Authority, in charge of these naturals spaces, wishes to enhance the mountain cattle breeding culture and its built heritage. The workcamp will start with a few days bivouac on the pastures to evaluate the needs of restoration on a few shepherdsʹ stone huts in order to prepare a promotion project. The work will also consist in clearing of brushwoods and restoring a couple of stone huts. The second week will take place down in the village to do some maintaining work in a public garden and to prepare the marking signs about mountain breeding sensitisation. The last week will take you back to the pastures to install the signs along the paths. This workcamp requires a great respect toward nature and cattle as well as cautious behaviours. SJ67 | Chalais | 09.08 ‐ 30.08 | RENO PROJECT (12 vols, 18+): This town in the south of Charente has a rich heritage like for example itʹs church built in the eighteen century. The building are being renovated by the association of the protection of the church St Marie and the town of Chalais. The work of the camp consists of renovating the stone walls inside of the church and also the fine work of the stone floor. Chalais, a dynamic city, organizes different events during the year as the International Show Jumping (horse riding). The volunteers will take part in the organizing of this event. Trips around the region (visit cities, the ocean, castles...) have already been arranged. The volunteers will be able, with the workcamp leaders, to organize their own leisure time and activities. This summer the office of mayor and the association want to continue the restoration work together with a groupe of international volunteers. The work will be physical straining but it is not necessary to have a special knowledge to participate. The free‐time will be dedicated to discover the region and the local population of Nozeroy. The volunteers will participate in restoring the stables of the castle (traditional masonry) they will also participate in the organization of a local fair that will take place the first weekend of September. This centre is located on a hill above the village of Saint‐Martin‐Laguépie, surrounded with fields and meadows, in a magnificent countryside landscape, made of hills and deep valleys. This project consists in three works to be done by small groups simultaneously. The first is to create a few elevated gardens designed for old people in wheelchairs to enable them to do some gardening comfortably. The second work consists in renovating and building a retaining wall and the third is
to install the sound insulation in the dining room, with natural materials. All along this project, youʹll have the chance to meet not only the Foyerʹs team but also the old people, the children, the farmers, the associations who come regularly to share some friendly moments together. In the free time, you will have the opportunity to discover the area and taste the local culinary speciality, to visit the essential distillery, as well as the medieval villages of Cordes sur Ciel and Najac. This little town in the Tarn province, among farmlands and woods is led by a dynamic and welcoming municipal team. The work will consist in restoring a pigeon house dating from the end of the XVIIIth century and situated at the outskirts of the town in a fallow field. You will be guided in the work by a passionate Canadian retired architect, a mason and a carpenter, both retired as well. The free time will be the occasion to meet the inhabitants, the local youth and the associations, and share your culture with them. You will also have the chance to go hiking in the countryside, to discover the neighbouring villages and towns, such as Graulhet well‐known for its leather‐craft tradition or Gaillac and its famous vineyards, and to taste typical local products. NEAREST TRAIN STATION: Lavaur SJ73 | Ile dʹAix | 05.09 – 26.09 | RENO PROJECT (12 vols, 18+): Ile‐dʹAix is a small island in the Atlantic Ocean that has already hosted several international workcamps. Marked by an eventful maritime past, this island is home to several places of historical significance, in particular Fort Liédot (listed as historical monument). Today, only a small part of the Fortress is accessible. This year, the tourist path around the Fort Liédot will be expanded with the help of the volunteers. The work consists of renovating different parts of the Fortress: the low‐stonewalls at the terrace, the facades and the exterior stairways. The masonry will be done in accordance with the old French traditions. The volunteers will also organize intercultural activities with the local school children. They will be able to practice in various activities, such as fishing, tennis and sailing with local clubs. The volunteers will also help the local association with organizing the Heritage Days. This town of 3000 inhabitants wishes to promote its castle. The idea of the town hall is to make a charming path around the castle. Today the tower of the castle is not accessible.
The technical objective of the work is to clean out the plants in the walls and to work with traditional masonry to renovate the walls. The communicative aim will be to exchange cultural wealth between volunteers and the residents of Montendre through intercultural activities in schools or in the castle. The volunteers will also participate in the day of national heritage (opening of all the buildings of French heritage, free entry for everybody). The town and La Maison des Bateleurs expect moments rich in exchange; conviviality and sharing. In the autumn 2010, we built terraces in order to extend the garden and we also planted some fruit trees. September is an important time for harvesting and also it’s a time to make stocks for winter and prepare the surfaces to be planted in the following year. This is the first step of a long term project aiming at improving the quality of our meals and developing creative cooking activities with the groups coming on holiday at the center. During this time you will also build a wood stock to tidy and dry the wood for winter. This work camp offers the opportunity to meet with young people from all over the world, discover a rural way of life, make walks in the mountains, visit some touristic places of the region and share many festive moments with all the young people who stay at Vaunières. ACCOMMONDATION: Bedrooms of 5 to 6 people LOCATION: Vaunières hosting centre is located 7 km far from St Julien en Beauchêne village (Hautes Alpes), 40 km from Gap and 200 km north from Marseille NEAREST TRAIN STATION: Lus la Croix Haute SJ79 | Discovery footpaths, Serres| 12.09 ‐ 02.10 |ENVI PROJECT (12 vols, 18+): The “Syndicate for hiking activities” is in charge of the promotion and renovation of non‐motorized paths (mountain bike, horse riding and trekking paths) in the Buëch, a region of middle height mountains located in the South Alps of France. We are doing our second workcamp this year in partnership with this Syndicate. The work will mainly consist in cutting the vegetation along the paths, painting signs to mark out the walks and doing some masonry work on difficult junctures in order to make the walk easier for tourists. This workcamp will take place in two different areas: it is a “travelling project” which implies moving the camp at least once during the workcamp. You will work most of the time in the mountains and there will be plenty of time to discover beautiful views and explore the wild nature. The work itself is accessible to anybody but beware that walks in the mountains will be necessary every day to get to the work site! The volunteers can also organize sportive activities, international meals with the local inhabitants and go on touristic trips at the week‐ends. Mountain climate (snow, cold, changes in temperature) is tough on a lot of the buildings and structures. Therefore we have to perform regular maintenance to keep them in good condition. You will work on the South‐West face of the main building to fix plastering and “génoise”, and do repair work on part of the roof. You will be accommodated in a house and participate in the daily life of the home with other groups. It is an ideal time to meet people from all around the world and you will meet some groups of young French people too. In the middle of the Alps it’s a good place to discover flora and fauna and mountain life. You can also visit some of the tourist attractions of the area. The region is very famous for this walls this is why it is so important for tue municipality to take care of them. Work 4 to 5 hours a day, in the morning, 5 days a week. LOCATION: Located at the south of the “Monts du Beaujolais”, at 40 kms from Lyon, Pommiers is part of the most important places for Beaujolais wine growing. LOCATION: Montmorin is a small rural village of 518 inhabitants, formed by 40 hamlets. The village is located, for one part, in the region of Buttes and the other part is in the Regional Natural Park of Livradois‐Forez. Montmorin has a great build heritage, for exemple the Montmorin castle, built in the 12th century, partially destroyed now. It is classified “Monuments Historiques”. This village will delight those who love nature and old stones. You will be proposed some activities during your stay (visits, excursion, and hiking). You will be proposed some activities during your stay: visits, excursions, hiking… you will take part to the bread fest, the traditional local fest. As for its countryside, it is characterized by very diversified landscapes (edge of river – Rhône and Véore ‐, agricultural and fruit‐bearing zones, hills and woods). The teenagers of the MJC will be happy to share some leisure activities with you (sports, visits…) and some other local organization as well. The cottage is situated at the foot of the ski resort of Val Louron, with views overlooking the valley. NB: Accommodation in shared house, which requires an effort of everyone. You will restore the dry‐stone wall: stone selection, rebuilding of the destroyed parts using the traditional technique. You will be under the supervision of a professional; he will make you discover this traditional technique of rebuilding. You will also upkeep the footpath. Inhabitants of Bagnols will also participate with you; this will create a lot of exchanges. You will work during 5 hours the morning, 5 days per week. ACCOMODATION: You will be accommodated under tents at the campsite located in the center of the village. The campsite has a swimming pool; you will have an access to it. LOCATION: Bagnols counts 532 inhabitants and is 860 metres of altitude. This genuine village of the Haute‐Auvergne is located in the Regional Natural Park of the Volcanoes of Auvergne, on the Artense plateau. It is in a green region, among woods composed by fir trees, beech tree and oaks. Before, the roofs of the Bagnols’ houses were made in thatch; a huge fire burned them and made them disappear. Bagnols is 8 km away from La tour d’Auvergne and 64 km away from Clermont‐Ferrand. You will participate in the creation of a boardwalk on the banks of the lake and a ramp to the beach for the disabled. For this work: resistant clothing and closed shoes are compulsory. This work will be carried ou in small groups. NB: the workcamp will end on August 2nd, volunteers will help prepare and participate in a meeting with associations of the town (Beach Fest), during the weekend of 31st of July and 1st of August, and will present international workcamps. A Conservatory Orchard exists in Tours‐sur‐Meymont; it is the one with the greatest varieties in Auvergne. The village is 50 km away from Clermont‐Ferrand. You will clean and clear two paths and a land area which belongs to the municipality. You will have to rebuild and renovate a wall with the traditional technique. Thus, on this pitch, you will sow plant seeds and plant flowers with the senior citizens of the village. On the 23th and 24th of July, you will help with the organisation of the local celebration of the sheepdog competition. You will also help to clean after the celebration. Hours of the work will be variable (work during the week end for the organisation of the competition). ACCOMODATION: You will be accommodated in a meeting hall. Masonry work and maintaining of the built heritage in the old city (rebuild a stone stairs, repairing walls, cleaning of the site next to the castle). Work 4 to 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. Located in between Privas and Valence (20 km), the small city has all the advantages of the countryside (nice landscapes, quietness) and all the qualities of a town (shops, public transportation, cultural events…). The MJC (House of Youth and Culture) is very active and the local youth will be implied in the welcoming of the group: they will organize activities, sports or excursions (sea), barbecues, street drawings workshops... for the volunteers group. JR11/200 CREST Valence 24/07‐11/08/11 FEST , Age: 18‐30 16 VOLS WORK: Guided by volunteers of the association organizing the Festival and by persons in charge of the engineering department, you will participate in the stages and platforms installation, in the support of the Festival promotion (posters; distribution of leaflets in the area), in the cleaning after each performance (scene, outside space, toilets…). You will have to participate into the waste management by using the recycling bin (glass/paper/...etc) You may also be asked to prepare the rooms for the artists and participate to some after scenes. NB: some tasks are repetitive but essential; organizers of the festival rely on your motivation to help them before, during, but also after the festival; hours of the work will be very VARIABLE according to the needs; little time for leisure or for the group life. You will also help organising Village Feast. You will help with the implementation and the organisation of this event. Your work will be divided in two parts : manual work and organising the cultural event. ACCOMODATION: In the municipal appartments, in dormitories, with kitchen and sanitary facilities available. It is a former mevieval town, located in the heart of Cahors vineyards, it is built

Possible free time activities (at your expenses and in agreement with the camp leader): swimming pool, canoeing and kayaking, visits to surrounding castles, hikes. Nearest town is Cahors, rich in history. Other activities, at your expenses, are possible. TERMINAL: CAHORS SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 1 / At the end of the workcamp, no transportation will be organized by our association. You will then have to arrange your own means of transport to return to the train station. 2 / Our association does not provide a car during the workcamp. 3 / Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them the E111 form (for the refunding of medical expenses in your country). 4 / Do not forget to bring : a sleeping bag, warm clothes (a sweater and rain‐coat), a bathing suit. The first one is in the centre of the village; you will convert an alley into stairs: clearing of rubble stone, sorting and cutting of the stones, building of the steps. The second location is the site of the former castle now destroyed. From this site, you have a great view on waterfalls. The work: clearing, cleaning, securing the installation of guardrails and make the ruins nicer (clearing and stones repositioning. The goal is to make the ruins nicer in order to keep the natural and authentic aspect. It is not a rebuilding.). you will be under supervision of workers from the municipality. You will work 5 hours per day and 5 days per week. ACCOMODATION: You will be accommodated under tents on the sport ground. Bathroom in the locker rooms. Mattresses provided by our association. You will go to work by foot (10 minutes maximum). Egliseneuve d’Entraigues is 960 metres of altitude, bring warm clothes and sleeping bag. You will cook in a room of the locker room; there are a refrigerator and a cook; dishes and kitchenware will be provided. There are shops in the village: minimarket, bakery, butcher, café. LANGUAGE: ENGLISH / and : French LOCATION: Egliseneuve d’Entraigues is a lovely village of 600 inhabitants in the Massif du Sancy and located in the Natural Regional Park of the Volcanoes of Auvergne. Egliseneuve d’Entraigues means “between water” that perfectly fits to the village: there is a large number of lakes and waterfalls. One of them is famous: the Entraigues’ waterfall with à 18 metres fall. The village also offers a great view on the Dores (Sancy), Cantal and Cézallier assembly lines. It is located on a land that nature lovers and cheese enthusiasts will enjoy! Walks in the nature and “between water” on the program. Egliseneuve is 60 km away from Clermont‐Ferrand. JR11/06 FESTIVAL COUVRE FEU Nantes 18/08‐02/09/11 FEST , Age:18‐30 15 VOLS WORK: Led by the set directors of the association organising the festival, you will participate in setting up and setting donw the festival. This includes the installation of circus tents (where concerts take place), close the site with barriers, arrangement of parking lots, dressing rooms, refreshment stands and restaurants ... during the 3 day festival you will participate in welcoming the public and site maintenance. . The week following the weekend’s festival will be dedicated to dismantling, equipment storage, cleaning and restoration of the site. Note: tasks a little repetitive but essential festival organizers are counting on your motivation to help before, during and after the festival but also, work schedules will VARY A LOT according to needs; little time for leisure but the atmosphere is very festive. Volunteers from this site must be especially dynamic and enthusiastic. And of course must be a fan of music! Time for leisure will be made available to any departure of the mission. ACCOMODATION: You will stay as all the other volunteers (400 people) and organizers of the festival, in tents at camping site. Toilets and showers on site. Enjoying the beach and water sports, beach resorts, charming as Pornic and Saint‐Brevin‐les‐Pins, large sandy beaches dotted with fishing. Walks along the coastal footpath in Bourgneuf Bay, along the Loire estuary, or in swamps and thickets of the hinterland. This year, you will continue the work started last year: brushing of the wall, removing of plaster and clearing, replacing of the stones, replastering. You will be guided by a technical leader of our association (mason). You will work during 5 hours the morning, 5 days per week. LANGUAGE: ENGLISH / and : French LOCATION: Billom is a village of 4 800 inhabitants, located in the Regional Natural Park of Livradois‐Forez, 20 minutes away from Clermont‐Ferrand and from Thiers. Originally druidic center, its intense development enabled this gallic village to become one of the first important
town of Auvergne, in the XII°century and to build its fortifications. The medieval area and old documents are not enough to describe this welcoming town. Billom is 25 km away from Clermont‐Ferrand. Jeunesse et reconstruction has a partnership with the association “les yeux ouverts”; with them, you will organise a educational hiking for local youth on the topic of the environment. Bring documents from your country about the environment and its place in the country. CONC 016 Ugine 08/07 – 22/07 RENO/ENVI 18+ 12 VOLS
Project: The town of Ugine has already hosted six international workcamps on its territory in the late 90s on the restoration of the ramparts. Thanks to a technical training and a workcamp in 2009, another one in 2010, a new dynamic has been created in the town who wants this year to set up a similar project on its territory. In 2011, you will again have the opportunity to invest in various technical activities and participate in many sports and leisure in a unique mountain environment. Work: At the time we print the program, the work is not yet exactly defined. But no doubt that Jean‐Luc, an employee of the municipality, will be there to supervise you, to share his knowledge and enable you to participate in different works to improve living environment of the town of Ugine.
Accommodation: Individual beds in an old primary school located in the village centre – showers at the gymnasium at 5 minutes by walk. Language: English and French. Location: Ugine is a town of 7500 inhabitants located in Arly vale in Savoie, at the border of the Bauges Massif Natural Park few kilometres far from Albertville. Based in a mountain territory, ramblers and adventurers, this work camp is made for you! Terminal: Albertville train station then take the bus to Ugine. Special requirements: Very important: bring working gloves, good walking shoes, warm clothes and sleeping‐bag. Backpack is compulsory. Be careful: You must be able to ride a bike: the village and its inhabitants will lend you bikes to facilitate your moves for work and activities.
CONC 017 Vanoise National Park – Pralognan la Vanoise 24/08 – 07/09 ENVI 18+ 12 VOLS PROJECT: The Vanoise National Park is the first protected natural space that has been created in France in 1963. The park which has been already our partner in 2006 and 2010, would like to host one more time an international work camp in Pralognan la Vanoise. Supervised by the park technical guards, you will have the opportunity to learn a lot with them about wildlife and the extraordinary geology of the area. Hikers and adventurers, this work camp is made for you! This workcamp is a PATRIMONITO project!
WORK: You will work on a path usually called « Route du sel et du Beaufort» a historic and commercial path between France and Italy. You will do some works on the damaged paths; build some steps and also some stone constructions to restrain the erosion. Everyday, you will use the
minibus to access to the mountain, and then you will have to walk 30 to 40 minutes (flat path) to join your work camp. A work camp made for mountain and nature lovers!!! ACCOMMODATION: In a group shelter in Pralogan, la Vanoise. LANGUAGE: English and French. LOCATION: Pralognan la Vanoise is located 25 km away from Moutiers in the middle of the Vanoise National Park, in a wonderful mountain environment. During the summer time, this small village multiplies its population by 10 and becomes one of the most tourist places in Savoie. TERMINAL: Go to Moutiers train station then take the bus (Transavoie) to Pralognan la Vanoise. Airport: Paris and Chambéry‐Savoie. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: The work requires a very good physical condition! Bring with you sunglasses, a hat, a bottleneck, working gloves, good walking shoes, a torch, a good sleeping bag and warm clothes. The evenings could be cold up to the mountains! Back pack compulsory. CONC 162 BOULOIRE 06/07 – 27/07 ENVI + 18 15 VOLS Project: Bouloire is located in a big agriculture region between the rivers Dué and Tortue. The centre of the village has a lot of old built heritage. The castle, from the XV century, is what is left of the medieval fortress. We can also find a roman church renovated on the XVII century, a chapel, etc. Firthermore Bouloire offers a flourishing cultural life: a theatre and a theatre company, a music school, a youth house, a social centre. The historical and natural patrimony is also surrounded by dynamic! This year you’ll work on a humid area. Work: you’ll clean the riverbanks and bring beauty to it! Situation: in the department of Sarthe, the village is 30Km from Le Mans, 15 Km from Ferté Bernard. Accommodation : in tents. If you have one tent you may bring it! Don’t forget your sleeping bag and the mattress.
