The brief of the contest and course was to use the material glass in innovative ways for a pavilion containing a café.

This project got first prize in the national contest ‘Nya ögon på Glas’ (new eyes on glass) and was constructed in 1:1 in spring 2014. We also won ‘Concrete Designer of the Year 2014’ in Sweden. Later on it was sold and constructed as a windshelter at a pire in Gothenburg. We were part of the change.

Första anblicken av cafet är långa, tunga och obehandlade betongbalkar som verkar flyta i luften. Vid närmare granskning av caféet ges den överraskande upptäckten att balkarna löper stadigt över flertalet glasskivor. Glasskivornas transparens gör att besökaren automatiskt får en genomsikt och överblick över de separerade cafédelarna.

En starkt iögonfallande orange möblering markerar mötesplatsen och förstärker genomsiktligheten

Formen och placeringen möjliggör ett möte från allaomkringliggande rörelseriktningar. Den runda utformningen tillåter servering från två sidor.

Plan arbetsyta 1:50

Cafét grundar sig i formen av kurva med tre rumsligheter. Väggarna är uppbyggda av likformiga transparanta glasskivor och bär robusta balkar av betong. Rummen definieras av det tunga bjälklaget och de bärande glasenheterna.

Här finns plats för 32 sittande gäster. Servering från två sidor. Möjlighet för upphängning av information finns på de konvexa utsidorna. Projektorer ersätter, den enligt programmet specificerade, 42 tums skärmen och visar rörlig information. Genom detta blir alla caféets ytor aktiverade.

THE CITY WITH MOVEMENTS BACHELOR THESIS 2015The project is based on investigation and discover of the landscape, building and their correlation.

In the first quick subsmission the brief were only to work in section, scale 1:100 and directly go into a small scale without knowing what the end result would be.

The process and the parts of a lasercutted section resulted in interesting series of room and spaces. Investigated the different interspaces that were created of negative and/or positive pieces.

What happens when you layer several sections upon each other?When you push the sections <----> to the right or left the correalation between them change the openness and closeness of spaces in between. How does it affect the city and it’s landscape and the movement of the people?

THE INTERSPACES?

what if layered? what if layered? DOUBLE IT UP.

NO, TRIPLE IT UP!1 + 1 = SOMETHING MORE...Starting to investigate how the intersections and shapes create and affect the movement and area of living. Analyzed what weak forms, forms with five or more corners, are giving to the percieved impression.

Forms with more then four corners are harder to figure out how they are shaped. It leads to an unexpected landscape and city. What happens with the intesections and citylife if you layered them upon each other in different ways?

5 moduls are created. The moduls can be linked to each other and gives the possibility to create different forms and bigger moduls so it can house larger activities.

To get the moduls to correalate every modul have at least two corners with an angel of 60, 120 or 180 degrees. Every modul need to have at least three constructive pillar to get a stackable, buildable and expandable structure. Stairs, elevators, slides, funicules etc. connects the different levels and moduls.

MOVEMENT EVERYWHERE!The moduls have sunken into the ground at some places wich extinguish the ground zero plan wich increases playfulness and an unconsciouness view of the cityarea.

When the forms are linked to each other and intersect in one anothers pillars they support one another and the overall construction becomes solid.

FINAL ISOMETRIC

EXAMPLE! An assambled way to put the moduls together.Activities is spread out over the site. Offices, greenhouse, housings, sport, view-point etc. is mixed and generating a flow of movement overall. You can also se that the moduls and the ground floor imbricades each other. Step out on a roof instead of the ground!
