Dear Fathers and Brothers, Greetings to you from Carmel Bhavan! We, the St. Paul’s Province, are very sad at the loss of two great priests- Rev. Fr. John Bastian Vithayathil and Rev. Fr. Frederick Mundathanath. Both of them served the Province from its infancy. Rev. Fr. John Vithayathil, a man of simplicity and hardwork, lived a committed religious life spending most of his time to financially help the province toiling in the agriculture fields. His love for the Congregation and his hard work and simplicity can be emulated in our lives. Rev. Fr. Frederick Mundathanath, the first Provincial of St. Paul’s Vice Province left an in- delible mark in the glory of our Province. His love for the members of the CMI was unparallel. His welcoming nature was evident to everyone who had an opportunity to be with him. He was an efficient administrator as the Provincial, Vicar Provincial, Councillor, and Superior. Being the rector of the aspirants at Kalamassery and Mysore, he contributed in the formation of our future religious in the Congregation. We are indebted to him for what we have and what we are. Let us emulate the great virtues of these two great personalities who showed us the true spirit of religious life through their committed service to the congregation and to the people. I grateful- ly acknowledge the great service of Rev. Fr. Joseph Edakkery, the Superior of St. Paul’s Carmel, Thandavapura and Rev. Fr. Joseph Parathappilly, the member of St. Paul’s Carmel. May God bless you abundantly for your service to our Priests in their difficult times. Now I would like to bring to your attention the present scenario of our province. God has been showering his abundant blessings on us for the past two years. We are indebted to be grateful to Him for His abundant blessings on the Province. We have grown much in every aspect of our life. We have grown both spiritually and materially. Our Common Annual retreats for the past two years and our resolution to continue it is a good sign that our members are serious about our spiritual life. Our Province was caught up in few financial constrains. By the grace of God we could overcome it. We were mired in dreadful loans. We have taken some drastic steps of selling some of the properties to overcome it. I thank you all in your cooperation for common pooling of our finances from schools and colleges. I request to continue your cooperation, so that further developments of our educational institutions can be realized without taking loans. Overall developments of the Province should be our aim. I take this opportunity to congratulate all our fathers who are working in our educational in- stitutions especially the principals. You brought laurels to the institutions by bringing excellent results in the board exams. Qualitatively, our institutions are yet to create an indelible mark in the society. I take this opportunity to thank provincial councillors for their hard work and contribution in their respective departments. I thank all the members of our province for their hard work, love and concern for the province. God bless you all. Fr. Provincial’s Message St. Paul’s Province Mysore

  • Good Communication-Better Understanding-Best Relations

Human beings have a compulsive urge to communicate with each oth-er. Mutual understanding is not only based on communication but also is the core of human relations. There can be no mutual understanding without com-munication; mutual understanding is the core of human relations. Communi-cation is like birth, death, breath and wanting to be loved- a part of life itself. Man is a communicating animal; he alone has the power to express in words. Sight, sound, touch, smell and taste are the modes of exchange of messages. The story of man’s progress is the story of his progress in communication skills. The degree to which a civilization or culture progresses is reflected in the state of its communication process. Communication is a two-fold process between two parties- the sender and the receiver. It involves an exchange and progression of thoughts, ideas, knowledge and information towards a mutually accepted goal or direction. Mutual acceptance, respect to oth-ers, forgiving each other, readiness to love everybody are prerequisites for proper communication. God is the best communicator, source of best understanding and bond of best relations. Being united to Jesus the eternal communicator of the Father let us build a community of communion. Fr. Emmanuel Ayankudy CMI Secretory to Dept. of Education and Communication

Final Profession A perpetual ‘yes’ to the will of God! May 25, 2013 was a day of radical decision in the lives of six young brothers of our province. On that day with strong minds and affectionate hearts these young re-ligious surrendered their will and wish at the Altar of Christ. It was the day of final profession. Bros. Tom Kunnumpurath, Jinto Plackoot-tathil, Saneesh Pathickal, Shijo Panjickal, Saitto Puthuva and Abin Changemcheril committed them-selves to the service of God. Congratulations and all the best for their fu-ture mission…

  • Fr. John Bastin Vithayathil17/07/1938 - 31/05/2013

Fr. John Bastin Vithayathil, one of the pioneering missionaries of our prov-ince slept in the Lord on May 30, 2013.“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Fr. John was an embodiment of the above words, who throughout his life worked in the vineyard of the Lord faithfully. He was an ardent missionary who was blessed because he

gave up himself for the betterment of the Province, especially in our estates without taking into consideration of his health. The only thing he was determined to do was his selfless service to the province. He also worked among the migrant Christians in different places, extending the services of His Ministerial Priesthood.Let us with a sincere and thanksgiving heart remember the wonderful contribution of Fr. John and pray for his eternal rest.

    Obituary

    Fr. Frederick Mundathanath29/07/1931 - 12/07/2013

Fr. Frederick Mundathanath one of the architects of our Province left us for his eternal rest on July 12, 2013. “Love knows its depth only at the time of separation.” This was clearly evi-dent during Fr. Frederick’s funeral when many people from different re-

gions of Karnataka, where he set his footprints, paused in to pay their last respects to this great missionary. Fr. Frederick’s mission and vision united together transformed the face of the mission in Karnataka to great heights. He with his dedicated and committed life made the erstwhile Mysore region into a province and became its first shepherd to lead. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. (Mathew 16.25)May this great soul rest in the hands of the Lord. May he be rewarded with eternal rest.

A journey seeking the Pastures. A shepherd is always in search of the pastures for his sheep. Certainly, it was a journey to prepare the pastures. Yes! Rev. Fr. Provincial left to the USA and Argentina in search of the mis-sion possibilities. He left to USA on July 4, 2013. The main aim of his journey is to visit and study the mission possibilities and opportunities of those lands. Indeed, he is preparing the way for the future missionaries of St. Paul’s Province. Dear Father, all the best! May success follow your paths…
