Date I

Based on the pumping programme to date the fluoride levels have remained fairly consistent between 7 and 15 mg/l with an initial reduction to levels between 7 and 8 mg/l but rising slightly over the summer 2018 months as groundwater levels dropped. Fluoride levels have dropped again since pumping recommenced in Nov 2018.

The fluoride levels at SE 1 - MP (Sump 1) are very similar to those identified in MW 18 - the closest shallow groundwater monitoring well.

I . I t - Lead results are well within the initial ELV (ELV 1).

Lead levels in the closest shallow groundwater monitoring well (MW 18) are at 0.063 mg/l (Nov 2018) - i.e at similar levels to those currently being monitored at SE 1 - MP (0.04 mg/l).

Arsenic levels are well below both ELV's. Arsenic is not a cause of concern for this area of the site and is currently only identified in BR 2 which is located on the eastern boundary of the site.

Antimony levels are well below both ELV's. Antimony is no longer a cause of concern across the site as it is not required to be monitored in any of the groundwater monitoring wells.

Aluminium results are well within the ELV.

Aluminium levels in the closest shallow groundwater monitoring well (MW 18) are at 0.177 mg/l (June 2018) - i.e at similar levels to those currently being monitored at SE 1 - MP (fluctuating between 0.3 and 0.4 mg/l).

The recent monthly results for the other parameters are provided in the tables below.

Conclusions - PumDinP from SE 1 - MP

Pumping from SE 1 - MP to the foul sewer has been successful in reducing aluminium levels in the shallow groundwater at this location.

It has also maintained reduced levels of arsenic and antimony.

Lead levels appear to be fluctuating with the seasons but are lower compared to historical levels.

The results over the past 15 months also indicate that parameters such as BOD / COD / S S / TPH / Ammonia and pH are not an issue for the site or any downstream treatment plant activities.

Page 5: FQ15&-Q1 Bdy $El- - Environmental Protection AgencyIn terms of Fluoride, the levels have fluctuated between 7 and 15 mg/l and are similar to those levels identified in MW 18 and MW

In terms of Fluoride, the levels have fluctuated between 7 and 15 mg/l and are similar to those levels identified in MW 18 and MW 27 - the two closest wells to SE 1 - MP.

The pumping regime had shown some improvement in the fluoride levels at this location until water levels reduced during the summer months. However, recently fluoride levels have come back below 1 0 mg/l.

I t is considered that the elevated fluoride levels in this area are not having any significant impact on offsite levels (in groundwater and surface water) as well as downstream treatment plant facilities.

Recommendation

Based on the 15-month pumping programme completed to date and the associated monitoring results, it is proposed to open discussions with the Agency about the option to cease pumping from this sump and also to start the process for submitting a Licence Surrender Application for the site.

Yours Sincerely,

Peter Pearson
