Transparency of environmental performances• external, as a means of communication to customers and other

stakeholders,

• internal, as a means of benchmarking and process improvement.

• seen as an enabler of:• new “green” logistics services, offering certified and measurable environment-

friendly transport options to customers,

• continuous improvement of operations based on environmental parameters measurements, leading to cost savings as well as meeting certification objectives,

• green supply chain co-design.

Key requirement at this level: availability of common approaches and standards for environmental performances assessment.
