WORLD DAY OF THE POOR Bishop Fabbro Launches the

Pope Francis Fund for the Poor Inspired by Jesus’ preferential love for the poor, as well as by the example set by Pope Francis, Bishop Fabbro has chosen the Thirty-Third Sunday as World Day of the Poor. November 17, 2019 is the day the Pope Francis Fund for the Poor will be formally launched. Thanks to the sale of surplus land adjacent to St. Peter's Seminary, Bishop Fabbro has committed one million dollars on behalf of all the faithful of the Diocese. The money will be invested in an endowment fund and proceeds earned will be given annually to agencies that directly serve the needs of people who are underprivileged. The agencies will be carefully qualified through a grant application process. The endowment will be a continuing source of assistance for those in need, as well as a reminder that we are truly missionary disciples of Christ. Bishop Fabbro invites each of us to join in this collective effort by making a donation to the Pope Francis Fund for the Poor. If you wish to give, please give online at www.dol.ca.

PRAYER FOR THE POOR

God of Justice, open our eyes

to see you in the face of the poor. Open our ears

to hear you in the cries of the exploited. Open our mouths

to defend you in the public squares as well as in private deeds. Remind us that what we do

to the least ones, we do to you.

Amen.

THE BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE

You will notice a BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE at each worship site near the sanctuary. Please take time to write the names of a loved one in these books as we will remember them at each of the Masses we celebrate

during the month of November. It is a beautiful way to remember and honour our loved ones. Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. AMEN.

THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Overcoming difficulties

Reading I Malachi 3: 19-20a (messenger of the covenant) Reading II 2 Thessalonians 3: 7-12 (qualifications of various ministers) Gospel Luke 21: 5-19 (the cataclysm to come)

Key Passage: Jesus said, “You will be hated by all because of my name. But not a hair of your head will perish. By your endurance you will gain your souls.” (Luke 21: 17-19)

Adult: When bad things happen, how do you deal with them?

Child: Have you ever worried about something that might happen? What can help you worry less?

CELEBRATE THE HARVEST DINNER Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Celebrate the Harvest Dinner. We were blessed with generous donations for our Silent Auction from many businesses and parishioners. We are very grateful for the support and

donations of the venue, wait staff, linens and more from Four Diamond Catering, the Armoury, Chatham and Suit Your Fancy. We were able to raise $5,844.85. These funds will make possible much Ministry to our Youth and their families.

A big thank you to Vocati, our singing priests Fr. Jim, Fr. Comiskey, Fr. Rocheleau and Fr. Roy, for sharing their gift of voice and song to entertain us. To our event committee who worked tirelessly to make it all happen; we could not have done this without you!

HEALTH AND SAFETY I know that none of us are aging or experiencing health issues, but our life span is increasing due to modern medicine breakthroughs. That does not necessarily mean our bodies are not at risk of the unexpected or incidents. It has been

discussed with the Parish Team, parishioners, as well as the finance committee members and it has been deemed prudent to purchase defibrillators for the parishes not having one. Blessed Sacrament and St. Agnes have one each. St. Joseph, St. Ursula, Our Lady of Victory and Spirit and Life Centre do not. Donations would be appreciated to help with this project. The life saved by their presence could be our own. Thank you for listening and for your possible donation.

PLEASE NOTE If you get an email from any of our team or staff asking you to give money, please DO NOT answer the email and call one of the offices to let us know and we will

notify the Diocese.
