Welcome to St. Louise Parish! · The most current liturgy guidelines will be announced prior to Mass. · Your financial contributions are still needed and welcomed! A collection basket will be passed during Mass.

Here is a QR code if you would prefer to donate online:

Gloria: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory. Lord God, heavenly King. O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,

you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

Profession of Faith: I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,

he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Holy, Holy: Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory.

Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Prayer for Pastoral Planning: Lord Jesus, we give you thanks for your ministry on earth, in which you proclaimed the Kingdom of God and conversion of life. We give you thanks for your passion, death and resurrection by which you manifested the perfect love of God, offering all who believe in you the gift of eternal life. We thank you for your promise to remain with us always as we faithfully carry out your mission.

As members of your Mystical Body, the Church, we come to you seeking the gift and guidance of your Holy Spirit.

Help us to become who you call us to be and to accomplish all you ask of us according to the will of the Father.

Grant us the grace of knowing you, loving you and serving you in all our brothers and sisters. Grant that our faith in you may permeate every aspect of our lives. Help us to shed all worldly ways that we may live the Gospel with truth and integrity. Grant that we may be more perfectly conformed to you and live as your witnesses in the world today. Amen.

Mother of the New Evangelization, pray for us!

¡Bienvenidos a la parroquia de Sta. Luisa!

Credo: Creo en un solo Dios, Padre todopoderoso, Creador del cielo y de la tierra, de todo lo visible y lo invisible. Creo en un solo Señor, Jesucristo, Hijo único de Dios, nacido del Padre antes de todos los siglos: Dios de Dios, Luz de Luz, Dios verdadero de Dios verdadero, engendrado, no creado, de la misma naturaleza del Padre, por quien todo fue hecho; que por nosotros, los hombres, y por nuestra salvación bajó del cielo, y por obra del Espíritu Santo se encarnó de María, la Virgen, y se hizo hombre; y por nuestra causa fue crucificado en tiempos de Poncio Pilato;

Dear Friends at St. Louise, WOW! Here we are already, the fourth week of Advent! This weekend we hear the story of the Visitation – Mary’s visit to Elizabeth. How many times have two (or more) pregnant women met to give support to each other? In this very human encounter, God’s salvation breaks through in a beautiful and mysterious way. How often do we ourselves experience God “breaking into” the human encounters of our lives? As many of you know, before my arrival at St. Louise, Fr. Tom Belleque was pastor here for 12 years. After serving for seven years at St. John the Evangelist in Vancouver, he is now at St. Anthony in Renton, where I was pastor for 15 years before coming to St. Louise. Fr. Tom and I have been friends since our days of seminary formation. Those are all human and ordinary things. And then, there are things that are not so ordinary. On January 12, 2010, a 7.0-magnitude earthquake brought the people of Haiti to their knees. I remember hearing the reports on the news early that morning, and little did I know that an event so far away would have such a personal impact. A young American woman, Molly Hightower, was killed in that earthquake as she volunteered in a hospital in Port-au-Prince run by Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH, also known as “Friends of the Orphans”). Many people here at St. Louise who were involved with NPH felt Molly’s death profoundly and organized a memorial service for her at St. Louise; I attended the service, since Molly’s grandparents, John and Annette Hightower, were parishioners at St. Anthony and I wanted to show them support in their time of loss. God got in the mix of all that (like God does) – we at St. Anthony had been wrestling with the idea of starting a sister parish relationship somewhere, the earthquake and Molly’s death put Haiti on our hearts, and so we ultimately established a sister-parish/school relationship with St. Anne’s in Hyacinthe, Haiti. I went on two trips to Haiti with St. Anthony parishioners, one in 2012 and the other in 2013. Establishing and growing the sister-parish relationship with St. Anne’s was an amazing experience that brought tremendous life and excitement to St. Anthony Parish.

Fr. Gary’s article continues on page 3...

Queridos Amigos de Sta. Luisa: ¡Wuau!

Scripture and Reflection for December Fr. Gary invites our Small Christian Communities and your families and friends to read and reflect on the following Scriptures during the month of December. Reading #1 Isaiah 40: 3-5 Reflection Questions

· How do you prepare for the way of the Lord? · How do you pave the road for others?

Reading #2 Luke 24: 15-17 Reflection Questions

· How do you recognize the face of Jesus? · When have you failed to recognize the face of Jesus

in your brothers and sisters in Christ?

...Fr. Gary’s article continued St. Anne’s pastor, Père (Pe) Josue, and Fr. Frank Rouleau, who directs “Outreach to Haiti,” have come numerous times to St. Anthony, and on several of those visits stopped by to see me after I moved to St. Louise. Pe Josue would gently nudge me on those visits and ask, “When will you bring people from St. Louise to visit us?” It seems that the time has come! I called Fr. Tom after Tropical Storm Grace hit Haiti earlier this year, just to see if there would be anything that St. Louise could do to help. Fr. Tom said, “As a matter of fact, there is!” Pe Josue and his parish are now ready to build a high school. Supporting that in addition to the parish and the existing school is too much for St. Anthony to tackle alone. How could I say “no” to Fr. Tom when the Lord had been preparing me for some time to say “yes”? I need to put together a team of people who could work with the “Standing with Haiti” committee at St. Anthony. Might you be interested in serving? If you are, please let me know at [email protected]. I can guarantee you, you will not regret that you did. Aren’t we all glad that Mary said “yes” to God’s wild idea? Blessings in these final days of Advent! Fr. Gary Zender

Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God (Not a Holy Day of Obli-gation): Saturday, January 1, 9AM (English) (Anointing Mass moved to January 8) Please note we will not have a 5PM Vigil Mass on Saturday, January 1. Small Christian Communities at St. Louise During this prayerful season of Advent, we invite all of our pa-rishioners to prepare for Christ's birth by participating in a Small Christian Community. These groups exist to share the Good News of the Gospel and reflect on the teachings of Jesus. After the isolation of COVID, gathering with other parishioners to share the Word can be a renewing experience. Listed on our website at www.stlouise.org are groups that are currently active in our parish. Please reach out to one of the group leaders if you would like to join us.

Pope Francis is asking us to collaborate with the Holy Spirit to tell him about our journey as disciples at St. Louise. and how our journey together could be improved in the future. What is a synod? In Church terminology,

the word “synod” means a meeting of the faithful to discuss the doctrinal and pastoral needs of the Church. It comes from the Greek word that means “meeting,” but its roots have the conno-tation of going along the path or way with one another. The pur-pose of the Synod is primarily about listening. First, listening to the Holy Spirit. Second, listening to one another. Our Listening Sessions at St. Louise will begin on January 9

after the 5PM Mass. There will be a variety of dates and times to choose from. Please register on our parish website to attend. Pope Francis is counting on the Holy Spirit and us to develop innovative ideas to re-energize the Church and help us become better disciples. Let’s do all we can to actively participate. Thank you and may the blessings of the Holy Spirit enliven us.

Luisa a visitarnos?” Padre Gary Zender
