The Archdiocese of Mobile’s Office of Youth Ministry is sponsoring a trip to Indianapolis for the National Catholic Youth Conference November 17-20, 2011

The National Catholic Youth Conference is an exciting three-day experience of prayer, community, and empowerment for Catholic teenagers and their adult chaperones. The schedule includes keynote addresses, workshop sessions addressing a wide variety of topics and opportunities for liturgy, reconciliation, prayer and worship, recreation and other special activities. In 2009, 23,000 attended in Kansas City.

Registration must be done through our Archdiocesan Office of Youth Ministry. $575 will include bus transportation, conference registration, hotel accommodations at the Hilton Indianapolis, breakfasts and a t-shirt.

Brenda Martens, Co-Youth Minister from Corpus Christi, will be attending and would like any interested high school students from Corpus Christi parish to contact her regarding fundraising to help with the costs for this remarkable event. First payments are due soon, so do not hesitate. Visit: http://ncyc.nfcym.org for details, videos, schedules and more. Contact Brenda via email at [email protected] or contact Janet Masline at the Office of Youth Ministry at [email protected].

WORLD YOUTH DAY!Saturday-Sunday, August 20-21

A World Youth Day Celebration is being hosted here in Mobile for all High School (and their youth ministers/chaperones) teens from throughout the archdiocese. Plans are still being "firmed up", but we plan for a fun yet prayerful night of interaction with the Sisters and residents, praise and worship music, talks, Mass, Adoration, Reconciliation, a service project and social time, culminating with watching live footage of the arrival of the Pope to Cuatro Vientos Airfield in Madrid in the PopeMobile and the Closing Mass for World Youth Day. This will be a wonderful way to experience WYD here in our archdiocese! Registrations will be limited to 110 teens and will be taken through the Office of Youth Ministry. There will be a small registration fee for the teens to help offset the costs. You will receive more information soon! SAVE THE DATE!

A Prayer for the NationAlmighty God, you have given us this good land for

our heritage. We humbly ask you that we may alwaysprove ourselves a people mindful of your favor and gladto do your will. Bless our land with honorableendeavor, sound learning and pure manners. Save usfrom violence, discord and confusion, from pride andarrogance, and from every evil way. Defend ourliberties and fashion into one united people themultitude brought here out of many nations and tongues. Endow with the Spirit of wisdom those to whom in yourname we entrust the authority of government, that theremay be justice and peace at home, and that throughobedience to your law we may show forth your praiseamong the nations on earth. In time of prosperity fill ourhearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble do notallow your trust to fail. Thomas Jefferson

Prayers from the Mass for

Independence Day

Father of all nations and ages, we recall the day when

our country claimed its place among the nations. For what has been achieved we give you thanks. For the work that still remains we ask your help.

All-powerful Father, we rededicate ourselves to your

service, and to the works of justice and freedom forall. As you have called us from many peoples to be onenation, help us to give witness in our lives, and in ourlife as a nation, to the rich diversity of your gifts. Grant that under your providence our country mayshare your blessings with all the peoples of the earth.

Loving Father, your son Jesus spoke to people a

message of peace, and taught us to live as brothers andsisters. His message lives on in our midst as a task forus today and a promise for tomorrow.

We thank you, Father, for your blessings in the past

and for all that, with your help, we must yet achieve.
