Hisense, one of Chinas leading TVmanufacturers, is us ing the newPS461 in several digital TV modelstargeted at the Australian, Europeanand North American markets.

The PS461 incorporates ParadesQuickPort technology, which pre-authenticates all four HDMI inputchannels using on-chip HDCP (high-bandwidth digital content protection)cipher engines and encryption key.This reduces delay to less than onesecond when switching between anyof the four active HDMI receivers.The highly integrated device also

includes on-chip non-volatile memoryfor four HDMI or DVI EDIDs(extended display identificationdata), reducing the need for externalmemories to save system bill-of-materials cost.

Parade worked very closely withleading TV OEMs, like Hisense, todevelop our new HDMI switching IC.With an advanced engineering teamand intimate knowledge of consumerneeds, Hisense is deliveringinnovative DTV designs to the globalmarket, said Jimmy Chiu, VP ofMarketing at Parade Technologies.Our design goal for the PS461 was

to meet Hisenses rigorousrequirements for fast switching timesand very low power consumption.

The PS461 consumes a maximumpower consumption of 1 Watt. Thedevice incorporates a switchingregulator, which enables the chipscore logic to run at 1.2V whileconnected to an external 3.3Vsource. This capability reduces bothpower consumption and bill-of-materials cost.

A complete solution for TV OEMs,the PS461 is compliant with HDMI1.4a and has achieved 3D CTS(compliance test specification)

certification. Transmitting data ratesup to 2.25 Gb/s, the chip supportsUXGA, WUXGA and 1080p at 60fpsdisplay resolutions with 8/10/12-bitdeep color. The device integrates aCEC (consumer electronics control)buffer for transmitting controlsignals between the TV monitor andvideo input systems. The device alsofeatures on-chip adaptiveequalization, which automaticallycompensates for signal loss overcable lengths of varying lengths.

Price and Availability

The PS461 is in production now, andis available in a 100-pin halogen-freeTQFP package.

The PS461 is available for $1.55/ea.in high volume.
