In the wide world of giving, there are a few nonprofit organizationsthat everyone has heard of–the ones that are nearly ubiquitous bynow. These are the enormous organizations that receive millionsand millions in donations each year to help their cause.

UBIQUITOUSThese organzations–while more often than not outstanding

organizations that help millions of people each year–often allowother, smaller orgs to fall out of the spotlight..

Unfortunately, those nonprofits that do fall through the cracks eachyear receive less than stellar volunteer and donation efforts, making

the goal of helping others more difficult.

THROUGH THECRACKS

The New York basedorganization helpsyoung womendevelop moreconfidence anddevelop their voicesthrough series ofpublic speakingsessions, writingworkshops and oneon one work withmentors.

GIRLSWRITENOWGirlsWriteNow is anonprofit mentoringservice for femaleswho are involved orwish to get involvedwith writing.

The organizationmatches writers of alltypes–poems, stories,creative fiction,etc–with a mentorwho can act as awriting coach, aworkshop leader anda creative writingcompanion.

Rather than dispose of those crayons, donatethem. The Crayon Initiative takes damaged andunwanted crayons and recycles them into newones–donating all of them to hospitals, schools,etc that are in need.

THE CRAYONINITIATIVE

If you have kids, grandkids or nieces andnephews, chances are you've got a box (orfive) of crayons laying around the housesomewhere.

And, chances are, at least half of them arebroken or otherwise damaged.

Drive Change is a nonprofit organization thatallows young adults who were recently releasedfrom prison or jail to take jobs at food trucks inNYC, cooking up food for patrons while theylearn marketable life skills.

Despite makingincredible stridesboth as a sex and anorganization, Ms.Foundation forWomen isn't doneyet–not even close.They continue tolead the charge forequality in the formof educating theworld on women'ssafety, education,health and economicissues.
