• Storage - A nonvolatile, electronic space on a magnetic or optical disc that the computer can use to store information and data for use at a later time.

The Role of the Operating System

• Gives special instructions on how to act like a computer

• A collection of programs that tell it how to function and how to manage its own operation

• Creates an interface between you and the machine
