Blue Jay Project Beginning in mid-November 2016, a group of 4-H’ers, headed by Ms. Rebekah Clark, came together in service of our community in Texas City. Blue Jay Oaks is a newly re-developed, affordable housing complex, meant for families to have a better place to call home. Mr. Steve Matero, founder of DSW Homes of Galveston County, called on Rebekah and her fellow 4-H members to utilize their knowledge of gardening, food, and nutrition to build and plant community gardens for Blue Jay Oaks. These gardens are meant to bring both a sense of fellowship to the new community and improve the lives of the residents at Blue Jay by providing home-grown fruits and vegetables. We commend the 4-H’ers who were involved in this project, as they truly embodied the spirit of 4-H through their hard work and dedication. Great work!
Volunteer 4-H’ers include: Rebekah & Faith Clark; Brianna Causer; Yvette, Wendell & William Smith; Zion, Eden, and Serene Woods; Ryan Butler; and Miky Alcorn.
