Four Advent candles

Four candles are burning slowly

If you are very quiet you can hear them

speak.

The first one says:

”I am peace !

No-one is receiving my light.

I think, I’ll be going out."

The flame was getting smaller and all at once it went out!

The second said:

”I am trust!

I am very vulnerable there is no sense in my

carrying on to burn”.

After saying this, there was a gentle breeze and it went out.

Quite spontaniously the third candle said:

”I am love!

I have no more strength. People push me aside and

don’t realise how important I am. They even forget to love

those who are close to them."

...and then the candle went out.

..a child came into the room and saw that

three candles had gone out.

”oh, why aren’t you burning anymore?"

The child asked

..and was very sad.

The fourth candle began to speak:

Don’t be afraid, as long as I am burning , we can light the other candles

again ,

I am

Confidence!"

With joyfully radiant eyes the child picked up the candle ‘Confidence’ and lit the

other three candles again .

The Flame Confidence

should always

remain with us...

.... in this way we shall always keep
