FORTY SEVENTH ANNUAL REPORTS FOR THE YEAR 2016

The Permanent Committee of Lodge Accountants No. 194 has pleasure in presenting the

Forty Seventh Annual Report on the working of the Lodge for the year ended 31st

December,2016.

INSTALLATION

Bro. Rajendra Kumar P was installed as the 47th Master of the Lodge Accountants No. 194

by W.Bro. R. Guruswamy at the 621st Regular (Installation) Meeting (By Dispensation) held on

Friday, the 22ndJanuary, 2016 in the august presence of R.W.Bro. Arvind Prasad

Chitra, R.W. The Regional Grand Master of the Regional Grand Lodge

of Southern India. The Worshipful Master then appointed and invested his officers for

the year 2016.

The Installation Meeting was attended by about 105 brethren including, Ruling Masters of the

City Lodges and several distinguished brethren from other Lodges within and outside Chennai.

The meeting was followed by a banquet at the Freemason's Hall. The arrangement for the

fellowship and dinner were made in an exemplary manner by the host Bro Rajendra Kumar P.

MEMBERSHIP

There were 164 Subscribing Members and 3 Honorary Memberson the rolls of the Lodge at

the commencement of the year. The year saw the Great Architect calling 1 of our dear

Brethren to his eternal abode. During the year, there were 6 initiations and the year concluded

with 169 Subscribing Members and 3 Honorary Members.

MEETINGS

During the year, in addition to the Installation Meeting, 10 Regular and 3 Emergency Meetings

(including 1st & 2nd Stage Ritual Working Competition) were held . Apart from this there were 2

Emergency Meetings held for memorial service. The details of the Meetings are annexed

separately. 6 Candidates were initiated, 4 were passed and 4 were raised to the Sublime

Degree of Master Mason.

The Ritual Working at all meetings was, as in the past, shared by many junior brethren to

whom appropriate portions were allotted. The Lodge acknowledges with gratitude the

involvement, participation and guidance of the Past Masters in the ritual working.

ATTENDANCE

The Lodge continued its fine track record by maintaining good attendance at its meetings. The

average attendance of Brethren at the meetings was 30. It is notable that the Officers

displayed their commitment by attending the meetings. 24 Past Masters attended the Past

Masters Meeting held on 22.12.2016. It is pertinent to note that the following Brethren have

registered 100% attendance:

The Lodge also notes with satisfaction its participation in the First Stage of Ritual Working

Competition for the year 2016 at the 628th Emergency Meeting (By Dispensation) held on 29th

July, 2016.

The Lodge participated in the Second Stage of Competition at the 635th Emergency

Meeting(by Dispensation)held on 29th December, 2016 and the results of which is awaited.

The Lodge expresses its deep sense of gratitude to the Past Masters for their zeal and untiring

efforts in training and motivating the brethren for the ritual working competition and in

particular to R.W .Bro. R. Venkatesh , R.W. Bro. S. Thirugnanamurthy, V.W. Bro. Vijay

Vasudevan, W.Bro. G. Prabhakar, W.Bro. R. Radhakrishnan and W.Bro. R. Guruswamy for their

guidance during the rehearsals for the competition.

RITUAL WORKING COMPETITION – 2015

Our Lodge was adjudged the“ Second Best Lodge in the Region”in the Ritual Working

Competition-2015 Stage –II and was presented with Lodge Ashoka Rolling Trophy.W.Bro. R.

Guruswamy was awarded for the “Best Master” Award in Chennai area under the ARGM

V.W.Bro. V.S Kylas. These awards were presented at the Half Yearly Regional Grand Lodge

Meet held at Yercaud on 14th August, 2016.

PAST MASTERS’ MEETING

The Past Masters’ Meeting was held on 22nd December 2015. W.Bro. B.S. Purshotham

(P.M.2006) occupied the Eastern Chair and with the assistance of his team of officers of 2006,

initiated Bro. Darmesh Kumar in an exemplary manner. The efforts taken by W.Bro. B.S.

Purshotham is commendable and the ritual was conducted in an excellent manner by the Past

Masters.

OUTSTATION TRIP

The outstation trip for the year was organized by the W. Master W.Bro. Rajendra Kumar P to

Kumarakom in Kerala from November 12th to 14th, 2016. About 30 members including the

brethren and their family members participated in the outstation trip. A congenial atmosphere

prevailed during the entire trip and this gave an opportunity to the junior brethren to mingle

and become familiar with the senior brethren and their families. The participants enjoyed the

scenic locations of the resort and had a fun time during the boat ride in Asia’s largest lake –

“The Vembanad Lake “.The evening games and entertainment programme and fellowship was

thoroughly enjoyed by the family members.

PERMANENT COMMITTEE

V.W.Bro. Vijay Vasudevan and W.Bro.G. Prabhakar were elected to the Permanent Committee

for the year 2016as per Bye Law No.4. The Permanent Committee met regularly every month

to deliberate and transact business relating to administration of Lodge and ritual working to

be conducted at the forthcoming meeting.

GRAND LODGE MEETING

The Annual Grand Festival of the Grand Lodge of India was held on 26thNovember, 2016 at

Varanasi wherein large number of our brethren attended the meeting.

RGL MEETINGS

The 54th Annual Investiture Meeting of the Regional Grand Lodge of Southern India was held

on Saturday, the 27thFebruary, 2016 at Kodaikanal and was well attended by large number of

brethren of our Lodge.

The Half Yearly Meeting of the Regional Grand Lodge of Southern India was held on

14thAugust, 2016 at Yercaud. There was a good representation of our brethren participated at

the meeting.

UNIVERSAL BROTHERHOOD DAY

The Lodge actively took part in the Universal Brotherhood Day celebrations organised by the

three ARGMs of Chennai Areaon Wednesday, the 24thJune, 2016 at Freemason's Hall, Chennai.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS

On 15thAugust 2016, the Lodge participated in the flag hoisting ceremony organized by the

three ARGMs of the Chennai Area. Participation was coupled with Charity.

FINANCE AND ACCOUNTS

The financial position of the Lodge continues to be satisfactory. All the registers and accounts

have been properly maintained and the subscriptions from all members are received in full

and all dues have been settled upto 31st December 2016. The audited statements of accounts

are appended to this Report.

RETURNS

The Returns to the Grand Lodge of India and the Regional Grand Lodge of Southern India

have been submitted in time and dues there on have been paid promptly.

W.BRO. K.A. ARJUNAN ROLLING TROPHY FOR THE BEST JUNIOR MASON

This trophy instituted by R.W.Bro. Y. Sathiamurthy is awarded to the best Junior Mason who is

selected from the initiates of the previous year. For the year 2016, Bro. Prasan Kumar Tara

Chand has been recommended for this award.

CHARITY PROGRAMMES DHANYA DHAN

Our Lodge continues to support Dhanya Dhan scheme by contributing towards cost of

rice and pulses to an orphanage run by Seva Chakra and by donating to Sivasakthi

Kakkum Karangal, a home for mentally challenged,

OTHER SPONSORSHIP

Our Lodge continues to sponsor breakfast to the inmates of Sri Ramakrishna Mission

Students Home on the Installation day. Consecration day lunch to the inmates of Little

Flower School for Blind.

Our Lodge also contributed donations to organisations, students and others towards

various charitable activities as detailed below.

As in the earlier years, the pioneering effort of our Lodge, a Masonic Diary for the year 2016

with the photographs of all brethren along with their spouse’s photos and setting out the

dates of the meeting of Craft, Mark, Lodges, Chapters and Conclaves in the city of Chennai

(under all constitutions) was brought out. This is the 43rd consecutive year of its publication.
